ENIGMA AND THE FRAUNHOFER IFF SIGN PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT

Enigma GmbH and the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF have entered a partnership agreement. They will collaborate on jointly marketing and providing a service for the mechanical and plant engineering sector. The heart of the service offered will be an after-sales solution for compiling, distributing, organizing and providing service information for the operation of machinery and plants. The partnership agreement was signed at the conference “Plant Engineering of the Future” held in Magdeburg on March 2 and 3. On the occasion of the signing of the agreement, Asher Gabbay Vice President and General Manager for Europe and Asia-Pacific remarked: “It is an honor for Enigma to sign this partnership agreement with Fraunhofer IFF for a joint offering of an after-sales system for mechanical and plant engineering companies. Over the past few years, Enigma has established itself as the market leader in IT after-sales solutions by implementing maintenance services for companies such as DaimlerChrysler, Siemens ICN und Ford Europe. Now, with the Fraunhofer IFF support, Enigma is looking to expand its presence in Europe with a product and service tailored for small- and mid-sized manufacturers.” Prof. Michael Schenk described the benefits of the partnership from the perspective of the clients Enigma and the Fraunhofer IFF will shared: “Enigma will be the provider of a unique solution that links service information and makes it accessible. The role of the Fraunhofer IFF will be to integrate interactive 3-D sequences into the Enigma solution. This will generate a value added for our clients because they will be able to run their machinery and plants more efficiently.” Comprehensive documentation of machinery and plants is indispensable if their operation is to run smoothly and downtimes are to be prevented. It is also required by law. Archiving, managing and providing this information constitute an enormous challenge for many plant operators. Enigma and the Fraunhofer IFF have jointly developed the after-sales solution PMO, short for Plant Maintenance and Operation Services. Fraunhofer researchers engineered the application and use Enigma’s 3C software platform as the technology to run it. PMO makes it possible to make diverse information and documents, previously stored in different systems and formats and sometimes on paper and other times in data files, available in a standard solution. All information and documents are now available electronically and a wide range of search and filter functions allow accessing the data quickly. Depending on their needs at the moment, employees, service technicians and development engineers can also use mobile devices such as a laptop or PDA to access data. PMO makes it possible to use existing information and documents more

effectively and thus reduces operating and maintenance costs. Among other contributions, the Fraunhofer IFF is supplying virtual-interactive 3-D scenarios for PMO. Such scenarios allow visualizing complicated operations and complex plants for instance. Enigma is the only software company delivering a complete aftermarket platform that improves the profitability of the installation, operation and maintenance of complex equipment. Enigma creates a dynamic encyclopedia of service, parts and diagnostic information, captures technicians’ expertise and connects to vital corporate systems to manage an optimal service and support workflow. By turning service and support into business opportunity, Enigma maximizes customers’ profits through improved workforce productivity, parts logistics and equipment uptime. Enigma’s rapidly expanding list of customers includes: Bobcat, Bombardier Aerospace, CAT Logistics/MG Rover, DaimlerChrysler, Ford Motor Company, Goodrich Aerostructures, Ingersoll-Rand, Japan Airlines, John Deere, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Mazda, Nortel Networks, PSA, Rolls-Royce, SBC Pacific Bell, United Airlines, United States Army, United States Army National Guard and Volvo Cars. Enigma is a privately held company, headquartered in Burlington, Mass., with offices in San Francisco, London, Paris, Munich, Toronto, Tokyo and Tel Aviv.
