I’ll start off with the negatives. The changes that happened in my body: numbness in my fingers, pain in my lower back and hair loss, which is something which has affected me a lot because I’m wearing the headscarf all the time. I’m insecure about my hair and my hair falling out.

The positives are that I have gone on recognising what’s wrong and being able to take control.

Finding a way to listen to my body and understand what’s going on with my body has helped a lot; getting enough sleep, drinking water. When I feel a bit fatigued I go for walks.

Understanding what’s going on was the difficult transition for me, a lot of things were happening. I was on a group chat with Homerton Hospital and all the points were there. I’m like. “Oh yeah, that’s that and that’s that.” It’s nice to be able to pinpoint all the signs and know that it’s okay and to be able to work with the signs.

With the support from Homerton hospital I’m going to get a bit more advice and also be in smaller groups so its feels a little bit more personal so you can ask those questions and feel more comfortable.Yeah, I think there’s going to be a Whatsapp support group for the women involved.
