Statistical data and infographics could be used to form a dynamic flag. Measuring data that links England, Wales and Northern Ireland, we aimed to create a colour coded info-flag.
Collecting data
Through research we looked into dividing by county and found land mass to be a promising data set. We also measured the UK’s total industry output ranked by contribution to GDP. We also considered how a flag could change over time using population as our example.

Visualising data
Beautiful Meme : Redsign the Union Jack
We found the data hard to process visually, especially in the constrants of the flag. The concept of an adaptive flag was strong but in order to execute well we need to further our research.

During our research we descovered Italian naval flags which used adjacent squares of different flags in their construction. The UK is a set of islands, each with individual pride which could benefit from a format like this.
