all is here! In my [not so] humble opinion, it's the best part of the year. Especially in Ohio. People often joke about the weather here; it's often changing, sometimes we'll go through two or three seasons in a single day! But, I still insist that fall in Ohio is the most beautiful fall you'll ever see. So, this is story of a beautiful fall day in central Ohio!
Two best friends spent a day together acting like tourists in our hometown. This story is told in two parts, as follows...
PART 1 A walk through Lynd's Fruit Farm in Pataskala, Ohio; a fall staple for many city dwellers. Lynd's is only a short thirty-minute drive from Columbus and it's a gorgeous day trip. Lush fields, apple groves, and pumpkin patches served as our picturesque backdrop.
PART 2 A walk through Uptown Westerville, the center of our hometown. My best friend, Susan, and I grew up here. As we walked through the streets, we reminisced about the things we did here as awkward [and somewhat unruly] teenagers. We did all this with an amazing soundtrack by our side. The songs of one Bruno Mars were our muse. So, there it is: a perfect fall day of apple groves, beautiful weather, old architecture, and Bruno Mars. Struttin' Through Fields
T
he groves at Lynd's Fruit Farm are a regular stop for many in central Ohio. On a sunny fall day, there is hardly a better place to be. And so, my best friend and I set out for the farm bright and early on a Saturday morning. It was a crisp day, but the sun was out and, as I already mentioned, Bruno Mars was on
our playlist. We were hyped up before we even stepped out of the car, yet we got our strut on and set out for the fruit groves. The lighting was perfect! Bright and sunny, only a few puffy clouds covering the sky. Trees were so ample, the fruit was literally falling to the ground. And, while we did do a little apple and pear picking, we just wanted to soak in the scenery*.
Maybe I romanticize the autumn weather too much, but I honestly can't get enough of it. Especially on sunny days before daylight savings hits. If there was some grant program that allowed me to live in this season for an eternity, I would apply for it right now! There you have it — two friends, great weather, great tunes, beautiful setting. I dare say that we have started a new annual tradition.

his is our hometown. I was not actually born here, but all of my formative years were spent in Westerville. A lot of firsts happened in these streets and so I have the great pleasure of calling this my second hometown. And, so on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, we set course for the little neighborhood we like to call
Uptown. Bruno Mars was still by our side* as we strolled through the streets and enjoyed the
last bit of fall sunshine that day. Uptown Westerville has this wonderful "small town charm." And on a crisp fall day, it feels like a scene from a movie. Picturesque doesn't begin to describe it. We've both been through these streets hundreds of times before, but this time felt like the first time. It wasn't long before we started to reminisce about the things we did as (somewhat) unruly teens. Those stories of things that would have made us die of embarrassment back in high school, were filling us with a weird pride that day. Like this sense of "look how far we've come!" and "we've got a ways to go."
*And I should mention, we did definitely keep singing "Uptown Funk" all afternoon.
