strain review by DJ STONE

Type: Indica-dominant Hybrid Grown in: Hydro Yield: Medium LA Confidential has dark green, dense buds with very dark red hair. Small leaves wrapped around the buds with crystals. Does not look very appealing to the eye at first glance. There is a mild smell in the jar at first opening. However, when it’s broken up it smells very strong, like a freshly ran over skunk and pine trees. Hints of diesel fuel exhaust.

FLAVOR AND EFFICACY

LA Confidential is a great medical strain for pain relief, insomnia, appetite stimulation, and general anxiety. This menacing looking strain is a pure Indica descendant of O.G. and Afghani. The scent of LA Confidential is sweet and piney and both of these traits carry over to the taste. This is extremely potent medicine and should only be used when you have no plans for the next few hours as it will induce serious couch lock. One may find themselves hanging onto the bong for dear life only to look down and see a barely burnt bowl. LA Confidential is a very resinous strain great for making hash and other concentrates. It tastes how a fresh pine tree forest smell’s after in rains all day. Hints of skunk on exhale. Thick vapor that is not harsh. Night time use is recommended. Immediately felt my eyes drooping after the third hit. The indicia genetics can be felt immediately. Provides instant soothing relaxation and strong anti-anxiety effects. Strong zooted effect provided great concentration for the first hour. Felt dazed and confused after the first hour, concentration was gone after that point. Good strain for insomnia and anxiety.

Protecting your garden from unwanted guests, whether human or insect is of utmost importance. An insect invasion can destroy a crop faster than you can say “no meds. First line of defense is bug protection, they can get in the smallest opening, no matter how secure you believe your grow space is, insects can find a way in. To protect against bugs like thirps and spider mites there are several products on the market. The best way to go is the organic products, they are safer and better for you. South County Hydroponics has ladybugs, predator mites, and destroyer mites. Let these lose on your garden and you can be almost worry free. Sometime offense is the best defense. The benefits of using natural methods of pest control as opposed to harsh poisons is obvious. Cannabis tainted with chemicals can do more harm than good. Chemical-free medicine is more safe and effective. Next line of defense is human security. Surveillance cameras and alarms can do wonders to keep your garden safe from thieves. Alarms work great most of the time, however who will answer the alarm if your are away? The thieves will be in and out by the time you get back, and then what will you do? Have a confrontation with possibly armed thugs? Cameras are great, especially hidden cameras. DVRGear.com has some incredible products. Cameras with motion sensor activation, others you can record video and watch it from your computer or cell phone. DVRGear. com also stocks special cameras for grow rooms that operate on infrared light for when you are in dark cycle.

Hemp Legislative Update August 2011

With hemp becoming such a hot commodity as the next “super food,” many are asking why American farmers can’t grow it. In the War on Drugs, industrial hemp can be considered collateral damage in that there is no logical reason to prevent our farmers from growing this versatile and environmentally friendly crop. Law Enforcement’s fear that hemp will interfere with their prosecution of marijuana laws are unfounded. In Canada, problems relating to hemp have been almost nonexistent. H.R. 1831 was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives in early May by Ron Paul and 22 original cosponsors. Three more cosponsors were added soon thereafter, so H.R. 1831 appears to be gaining momentum. It was referred to the House Committee on Energy & Commerce as well as the Judiciary Committee. A public hearing is needed to showcase hemp’s utility while also emphasizing the folly of its prohibition. Several hemp bills have been introduced over the last few years without a public hearing which is congress’s way of stifling the debate. The prohibitionists know they can not win a debate on this issue, so they refuse to allow it to take place. 29 states have introduced some type of hemp legislation and 9 states, including Oregon, North Dakota and Kentucky, have removed the barriers to its production or research. This state by state approach could eventually attain critical mass whereby the government will again recognize hemp as a legitimate agricultural crop.

The California Hemp Farm Bill (SB 676), which creates an eight year, five county pilot program, is steadily winding its way through the legislative process. Five primarily agricultural counties (Kings, Kern, San Joaquin, Yolo and Imperial) were included in the pilot program. If everything goes as planned, the bill will be on Governor Brown’s desk for his signature shortly after Labor Day. Vote Hemp, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the acceptance of industrial hemp, is an excellent resource for people looking to do more. VoteHemp.com is chock-full of news, information and several specific ways for people to take action at the local, state and federal levels. Among other things, you can sign up for the Vote Hemp Action Alert e-mail list or download sample letters that you can send to your legislators. One thing you can do is contact your elected representative and ask them to co-sponsor H.R. Bill 1831 and/ or ask them to hold a public committee hearing. VoteHemp. com has sample letters as well as a handy online utility that tells you who your representative is.

pretend that it doesn’t exist or call it a niche market. Of course, if you refuse to allow farmers to grow it, hemp can hardly become anything more than a niche market. Or can it? Canada’s legalization of hemp in 1998 has helped create the burgeoning hemp food industry. 30,000 acres of hemp will be cultivated in Canada this year and sales of all hemp products are topping 400 million dollars a year. That’s a pretty big, and growing, niche. Another way to help re-legalize hemp is to buy hemp products whenever you can. As the hemp industry becomes larger, more people will begin to appreciate hemp’s benefits and better understand why it should be legal to grown in America.

The government takes a similar “Catch-422” approach to industrial hemp that it does for medical marijuana. First,

“The air quality has improved immensely”
“I am writing to inform you of how satisfied I am with the air filter system that your company sold to Duffy’s Bar. The air quality has improved immensely and our clients have mentioned that there is a noticeable difference. Thank you, again.”-Brant Read,Owner, Duffy’s Bar, Quebec “Extremely pleased with the units”
“We use two units in an in vitro fertilization program and need to filter out biological and particular matter and odors (airborne organics). We routinely test the lab for biological contaminates (bacteria) using culture techniques, and particulate materials by microscopy examination. While we do not test for airborne organics per se, their effect on the culture of our embryos would be readily apparent if there was a problem. Since we started using the units we have had no problems with airborne interference with culture and have had no positive tests for bacterial contaminates. While we still have minor dust problems (which come from our house air supply) they have been greatly reduced by having the freestanding filtration units in the room (I would estimate about an 80-90% reduction). Overall, we are extremely pleased with the units.” Dr. Sam Prien-Texas Tech University,Texas “Major improvement in the health of the care giving personnel”
“When we decided to improve the air quality in our day center, we purchased an air purifier on the advice of personnel at the Lung Association. There was such a major improvement in the health of the care giving personnel as well as the children at the center, the directors decided to buy eight more units (one for each class). We are more than completely satisfied with the results of these purifiers and would highly recommend these units to anyone with children in their charge .”-Suzanne Latreille, Seattle

BY Matt@Compassion RI While hanging out with some patient friends one day, I listened to some guys trying to convince me that “Kush” is an actual strain of cannabis. They told me, “There’s indica, sativa, and then there’s Kush!” I tried to explain that there are four cannabis strains: hemp sativa, sativa, indica, and ruderalis. There is often a fifth category, afganica, added as an indica subset. Kush is just another type, or cultivar of cannabis like haze, skunk, or diesel. This made me very unpopular and I left soon afterwards. In the weeks following I have thought hard about how strongly so many people feel about Kush plants. I mean, Kush could be considered an indica subset just like afganica? Regardless of how it’s classified, what’s so special about Kush? I decided to do some extensive research… According to Wikipedia: Kush refers to a subset of strains of cannabis indica. The origins of Kush cannabis are from landrace plants mainly in Afghanistan, Northern Pakistan and North-Western India with the name coming from the Hindu Kush mountain range. “Hindu Kush” strains of cannabis were brought to the United States in the mid-to-late 1970s and continue to be available there to the present day. With this mystery solved I had writtenoff the idea that there could be some “other Kush” out there until recently. Many of the 1000 Watts staff attended the 2011 Cannabis Cup in Denver this spring where they had the opportunity to visit much of the area as well as to meet many people. Of the many people met, there was one that stood out from the crowd as someone that I had to follow up with, a man said to be the original breeder and creator of the Bubba Kush cultivar. Being a huge medical cannabis researcher and connoisseur myself, it seemed so appropriate that my search for the real

story behind the bubba Kush would lead me to a dispensary, rightfully named, The Cannasseur. As I drove down Tennyson St. approaching the Cannasseur I couldn’t help but feel rather at home in the pleasant neighborhood dual zoned homes now housing various stores and businesses with inviting fronts prompting people to walk up and down the sidewalks in the pleasant Denver weather. Upon entering The Cannasseur, you’ll notice the bench and rocking chair on the front porch to the right and a small service will window to the left of the door that will remind you that you are at a place of business. Inside you will find an inviting, open pathway to the medicine counter and friendly staff including the owner Matt Berger, Bubba himself. The Cannasseur is comprised of a dream team including Bubba and two partners which are amazing master growers and genetic gurus and have turned The Cannasseur into one of the premier dispensaries in Colorado. They are incredibly good at cranking out ridiculously good hydro-organic cannabis. They have taken their Kush and hybrids and have maximized their genetic potential, growing some super strong, sticky medicine. After checking out the impressive Kush collection on deck I sat down with Bubba to discover the origins of the Bubba Kush. It was in 1992 that Matt and one of his current two partners were hanging out in Florida. They were two entrepreneurs who were enjoying the weather and opportunities in Gainesville when another of Bubba’s friends came up from Miami with a bag of ridiculously good sticky bud that he had picked up while down in Miami. After smoking out of the bag for a few days they noticed that there were a few seeds in the bag. The bud was so good they popped the seeds to see what they would get. As expected, the plants pro-

duced excellent bud. Having kept clones of the plants, Matt continued to grow the best of the plants which remained nameless until the older brother of his friend came to visit. The older brother said the buds looked like Kush berries that grow over in Indonesia. Finding the name kushberry unacceptable, Matt decided to call the plant “Kush.” Bubba continued to cultivate the Kush . While in New Orleans visiting with a friend who went to Tulane in 1994. His frat brother, who was from Northern California, was getting really nice bud shipped in from the Humboldt area. It was always really good stuff, but one day then received some Northern Lights that was stellar and just happened to have a few seeds in the bag. Of course, he kept the seeds and sprouted them, growing them out to see which would be the best. After careful selection Bubba found the plant that he would continue to cultivate. He recalled saying to his friend, “Now that’s some good bubba!” after they had tried some of the cured buds. Since “bubba” is a typical southern nickname and for a good friend or that a good fellow is often called, Bubba decided to name the plant “bubba” after himself and all his bubbas. He continued to grow the bubba, the Kush, and a purple indica along with an experimental Kush cross called kY. Fast-forward to 1996, Bubba moves to Los Angeles to reunite with his old friends and explore new opportunities. Of course, cuttings of all his plant genetics managed to magically show up in California where he continued to cultivate. Once in Cali, Bubba discontinued the kY and only kept growing the purple indica, bubba, and the Kush. These three plants began to gain quite a bit of popularity out west and Bubba began supplaying one of his friends whom we will call an associate of Cypress Hill. At the time his friend and Cypress Hill had been really enjoying the purple indica and the bubba when cont. on pg 19

they noticed a couple of seeds in the bag of bubba they had. Bubba knew immediately that it was from his Kush that hermaphrodited and pollinated his Purple Indica (rise of the Purple Kush) and of course, the Bubba. This was the birth of the Bubba Kush, with credit being given to Cypress Hill for discovering the seeds. Bubba eventually discarded the other crosses, but continued to cultivate the Kush and the Bubba Kush and has gained much popularity for it. Since moving to Colorado and starting The Cannassuer with his two partners, Matt continues to stay in contact with Cypress Hill and was at the “Spring Gathering” in San Bernardino, CA where they hung out earlier this year. So it turns out that there are now many Kush hybrids out, especially in California, that are actually from the Kush genetics that Bubba found in Florida back in 1992 as opposed to being from plants known to have genetics originating in the Hindu Kush region. I thank Bubba for taking the time to tell me the story behind the Bubba Kush. Bubba is definitely one of the coolest guys you’ll run into and the meds The Cannasseur are producing will really impress you. GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOOD POISON ON THE STORE SHELVES By Zat Nickatel A GMO (genetically modified organism) is the result of a laboratory process of taking genes from one species and inserting them into another in an attempt to obtain a desired trait or characteristic. This process may be called either Genetic Engineering (GE) or Genetic Modification (GM); they are one and the same.

mate a pig with another pig to get a new variety, but is not possible to mate a pig with a potato or a mouse. Even when species that may seem to be closely related do succeed in breeding, the offspring are usually infertile— a horse, for example, can mate with a donkey, but the offspring (a mule) is sterile.

GMO food has been just another dirty little secret the FDA and biotech companies have tried to keep from becoming common knowledge. American consumers are purposely being misled into believing that GM food is safe and adequately tested, this is not the case at all.

With genetic engineering, scientists can breach species barriers set up by nature. For example, they have spliced fish genes into tomatoes. The results are plants (or animals) with traits that would be virtually impossible to obtain with natural processes, such as crossbreeding or grafting. This is how the term “Frankenfood” came about.

Genetic engineering is completely different from traditional breeding and carries unique risks. In traditional breeding it is possible to

Because living organisms have natural barriers to protect themselves against the introduction of DNA from a different species, genetic engineers have to

find ways to force the DNA from one organism into another. These methods even include using viruses or bacteria to “infect” animal or plant cells with the new DNA. Current understanding of the way in which DNA works is extremely limited, and any change to the DNA of an organism at any point can have side effects that are impossible to predict or control. The new gene could, for example, alter chemical reactions within the cell or disturb cell functions. This could lead to instability, the creation of new toxins or allergens, and changes in nutritional value. Although there are attempts to increase nutritional benefits or productivity, the two main traits that have been added to date are herbicide tolerance and the ability of the plant to produce its own pesticide. These results have no

health benefit, only economic benefit. Herbicide tolerance lets the farmer spray weed-killer directly on the crop without killing it. Genetic engineers continually encounter unintended side effects – GM plants create toxins, react to weather differently, contain too much or too little nutrients, become diseased or malfunction and die. When foreign genes are inserted, dormant genes may be activated or the functioning of genes altered, creating new or unknown proteins, or increasing or decreasing the output of existing proteins inside the plant. The effects of consuming these new combinations of proteins are unknown. Currently commercialized GM crops in the U.S. include soy (91%), cotton (88%), canola (88%), corn (85%). Products derived from the above, including the oils from all four, soy protein, soy lecithin, cornstarch, corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup among others.

commonly known that organic food is much healthier. Most European countries won’t even import American food because it is known to be of such low quality. However in America the average consumer does not even know GMO food exist, or the risks involved in consuming them. Rhetoric from the United States government since the early 1990s proclaims that GM foods are no different from their natural counterparts that have existed for centuries. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has labeled them “Generally Recognized as Safe,” or GRAS. This status allows a product to be commercialized without any additional testing. According to US law, to be considered GRAS the substance must be the subject of a substantial amount of peer‐reviewed published

actly what big agribusiness has asked them to do and told them to do.” The Ag biotech company with the greatest influence was clearly Monsanto. According to the New York Times, “What Monsanto wished for from Washington, Monsanto and, by extension, the biotechnology industry got. . . . When the company abruptly decided that it needed to throw off the regulations and speed its foods to market, the White House quickly ushered through an unusually generous policy of self‐ policing.” This policy was heralded by Vice President Dan Quayle on May 26, 1992. He chaired the Council on Competitiveness, which had identified GM crops as an industry that could boost US exports. To take advantage, Quayle announced “reforms” to “speed up and simplify the process of bringing” GM products to market without “being hampered by unnecessary regulation.” Three days later, the FDA policy on non‐regulation was unveiled. The person who oversaw its development was the FDA’s Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Michael Taylor, whose position had been created especially for him in 1991. Prior to that, Taylor was an outside attorney for both Monsanto and the Food Biotechnology Council. After working at the FDA, he became Monsanto’s vice president.

“For example, they have spliced fish genes into tomatoes. The results are plants (or animals) with traits It is wise to avoid meat, eggs, and dairy products from animals that have eat- that would be virtually impossible en GM feed (majority of the GM corn to obtain with natural processes, and soy is used for feed), dairy products from cows injected with rbGH such as crossbreeding or grafting. The only way one can be certain to avoid all GMOs is to consume only USDA certified organic food.

The only feeding study done with humans showed that GMOs survived inside the stomach of the people eating GMO food. No follow-up studies were done. Various feeding studies in animals have resulted in potentially pre-cancerous cell growth, damaged immune systems, smaller brains, livers, and testicles, partial atrophy or increased density of the liver, odd shaped cell nuclei and other unexplained anomalies, false pregnancies and higher death rates. In Europe and Australia it is mandatory for GM food to be labeled as such and it is

studies (or equivalent) and there must be overwhelming consensus among the scientific community that the product is safe. GM foods had neither. Nonetheless, in a precedent‐setting move in 1992 that some experts contend was illegal, the FDA declared that GM crops are GRAS as long as their producers say they are. Thus, the FDA does not require any safety evaluations or labeling of GMOs. A company can even introduce a GM food to the market without telling the agency. Such a lenient approach was largely the result of the influence of large agricultural corporations According to Henry Miller, who had a leading role in biotechnology issues at the FDA from 1979 to 1994, “In this area, the US government agencies have done ex-

threats to their health were more well known. Most people will never understand that the cheap processed food they eat is really little more than poison in a colorful package. Usually poor families are the hardest hit because they see inexpensive food in bright colorful boxes. For them it makes more sense to buy a huge box of GMO cereal, than a little box of organic cereal. This is part of the reason Americans are obese.

We all need to adopt a quality over quantity attitude when it comes to our food. USDA organic is the only safe way to go.

Growing with LEDs By Matt Have you ever considered growing with LEDs? Choosing an LED fixture could end up being just the right fit for your garden. LED is short for Light-Emitting Diode. Because they do not need to produce heat in order to produce light, LEDs are considered to be the most efficient lights on the market. There are many brands and types of LED lighting units out on the market. The LED units available come in arrays of either 3mm or 5mm LEDs, with the 5mm being reported as the most efficient. Both work well.

The most commonly available units will likely contain 3mm LEDs. I have used only the 90w round UFO type LED lights. I have 5 LED Grow Lights made by CALNURSERY.COM and 1 Original LED UFO. The Original is set at 630nm color spectrum and the others are all at 660nm which is heavier in the red spectrum. This is achieved by using a combination of blue and red LEDs. The result is a light that always looks to be some shade of purple or violet, depending on spectrum. Utilizing only light in

spectrums that plants use for photosynthesis, red and blue, is another reason why LEDs are so much more efficient than traditional lighting sources. The best way to explain LEDs is to compare them to what people are already using to produce excellent meds. The lack of heat and isolated color spectrum are what I consider to be the main differences between LEDs and the traditional HID lights that we typically see. Multiple stud-

ies have shown that large amounts, up to 70 percent in some cases, of the light emitted from an HPS lamp is emitted as heat. Rather than talk about how inefficient that sounds, lets focus on the fact that plants must somehow like this heat because we all know that HID light work very well. Day and night time temperatures play a big role in plant growth rates and development. Without the heat being produced from the light, it’s possible that your garden’s daytime temperatures may not be warming up the way they would if sunlight or HID light was being used. I always use LEDs on my vegetative plants, but have never used LEDs to flower plants other than when it was hot and I need to cut down on heat. I have always experienced great results even though flowering time seems to increase by about two weeks when using LEDs. This winter will be the first time I experiment with flowering plants under LEDs in cold weather. It will be interesting to see how badly I need to add heat to my garden and how it affects the crop. If heat is the first big difference between LEDs and HIDs, then light spectrum is definitely a close second. Understanding how to use the focused spectrum of the LEDs in your garden will take some getting used to. Everyone knows that cannabis requires intense light in order to flower and form thick, dense buds. This can still be achieved using the less intense LEDs. The confusion comes from LED companies marketing their lights as being replacements for HID

lights. This was what mislead me to buy my first 90w LED UFO as a replacement for the 400w HPS I was using at the time. Light comes in many colors, or wavelengths. To the human eye, the colors green and yellow appear much brighter than the colors red and blue which are the primary colors used by plants for photosynthesis. HID, incandescent, and fluorescent lighting were all originally designed to light rooms for human eyes to see, not for plants to grow. As a result, much of the light produced by traditional sources of light is not even absorbed by the plants or is emitted in the form of heat (infrared). This is the key to LED lighting. 99% of the light emitted by LEDs is absorbed and used by the plants. The big question is how much garden space will an LED cover compared to an HID.In my personal experience, 5- 90watt LED grow lights spaced evenly over the same area as two 400w HPS lights will produce the same yield provided that you give the plants an extra

two weeks of flowering time AND properly manage the decreased amount of heat. Less heat means less watering and different fertilizer regiments. Plants can’t be grown the same way with LEDs because the light efficiency is not based on watts and intensity, but on spectrum and ambient heat. These results came from an actual comparative grow that I did using Hashberry as the cannabis cultivar. The plants were grown during the summertime in 3-gallon pots of foxfarm ocean forest potting soil in a sea of green style. I have heard that even better results can be achieved through LEDs and hydroponic gardening. This will be my next experiment. I will keep you posted on the results. ~Cannabis has been used for medicinal purposes for millennia all over the world. It was in a variety of medications in the United States until the early 1940s and was considered by Dr William Osler {the father of modern medicine} ~ to be the best treatment for migraine headaches in the 1800s. ~ Because of its effect on the brain and peripheral nervous system, there are a wide range of both psychological and physical effects. Depending upon the medical condition, these can be seen as benefits. The immediate effect can be a dulling of the senses, decreased memory, and either an increase or decrease in the ability to concentrate. As a result, people are better able to manage pain; many with PTSD have fewer flashbacks and memories; and some with ADD claim that, along with their medication, it helps them focus. Like any medication, the effects vary from person to person and also depend on the type of marijuana (cannabis) used. Benefits of Medical Marijuana.

~Alleviates pain and often allows for a reduction of opiate use in people suffering from herniated discs, arthritis(Rheumatoid or osteo), traumatic injury, migraines, Fibromyalgia, and more. Stimulates appetite and relieves cachexia (physical wasting) in patients with AIDS , Hepatitis C and cancer. ~Relieves neuropathic pain from peripheral neuropathy (in people with diabetes or side effects from chemotherapy, radiculopathy, phantom limb syndrome and, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. Alleviates nausea and vomiting associated with cancer, HIV and Hepatitis-C chemotherapy. ~Decreases intra-ocular pressure in those with diagnosed glaucoma. ~Decreases muscle spasm as experienced with Multiple Sclerosis, paralysis (paraplegia/quadriplegia), and cerebral palsy. Sleep Aid for those who suffer from insomnia { including if it is from pain or side effect of medication.}

A WALK AROUND AMSTERDAM by-DJ Stone

Amsterdam's downtown area is very large. Containing many dams and canals, this is where the taxis and busses all merge. There is a large statue there mostly covered in pigeon shit. From Amsterdam center it's a three minute walk to Central Station, or a two minute walk to the red light district. It's a ten minute walk to the Van Gogh Meuseam or the famouse Oservatory. There are coffee shops on every corner, the shops that are Cannabis friendly have a little marijuana leaf by the door. You have to do you homework on coffee shops. There are some which just sell shwag, and others that have the cannoseurs covered. The Blue Bird Cafe is the best place for hash. They have a menu with 20-30 different kinds of hash with explainations and pics showing how each was made and where it comes from.

The Grey Area coffee shop is one of the best for Cannabis. They have won many High Times Cannabis Cup awards. The owners are local boys too! One from Rhode Ilsland and one from Viginia. The streetcar system is great in Amsterdam; you can buy a ticket for a day or a week. There are trains that only circle the city around the entire outskirts, or you can go right to the Van Gogh Meuseam or Amstel brewery. The food In Amsterdam is fantastic. Every cuisisne you can think of is available in Amsterdam, as well as pastry shops for when you get the munchies. Not really a red light district guy myself, but they have everything from a sex meuseam, to live sex shows, to ladies of the night. A lot of couples stroll the red light district at night.

“There is only one kind of freedom and that’s individual liberty. Our lives come from our creator and our liberty comes from our creator. It has nothing to do with government granting it. So when I say cut taxes, I don’t mean fiddle with the code. I mean abolish the income tax and the IRS, and replace them with nothing. Also, abolishing the Federal Reserve will allow Congress to reassert its constitutional authority over monetary policy. The United States Constitution grants to Congress the authority to coin money and regulate the value of the currency. The Constitution does not give Congress the authority to delegate control over monetary policy to a private central bank. As a libertarian, I say: Let’s cut the unnecessary wars. Let’s cut the foreign aid. Let’s cut all the empire building which costs trillions of dollars. The founders of our nation, some of whom grew hemp, would surely find that federal restrictions on farmers growing a safe and profitable crop on their own land are inconsistent with the constitutional guarantee of a limited, restrained federal government. Cannabis laws should be set at the state, not federal, level. I believe that the U.S. Constitution gives the fifty states the right to legalize hemp production and cannabis. The issue is a matter of personal liberty. If drugs are legal and people misuse them, then they do it at their own risk. Bottom line, I do trust individuals to make their own decisions.” Rep. Ron Paul, M.D.

It’s not what we buy, but what we buy into. When economic power is controlled by a select elite and used to manipulate political power and manufacture consent through propaganda; a society is created in such a manner hardly distinguishable from slavery. The status quo does not support anyone but the global two percent. Force and deception are not moral or rightful foundations for government; subverting natural law, criminalizing natural resources and suppressing natural cures. We are regarded across the globe as “the torturers of the 21st century”. The body politic has been invaded, our spirit has been possessed, our psyche is captured and Charon is ready to escort us to Hades. This ship is headed straight to Hell. Economic control through a centralized source is not just control simply by managing a part of a person’s life; it ultimately becomes the domination of all creative potentials that set individuals apart in talent and personal will. There can be no dispute about whether planning is to be done or not. It instead becomes a moral question; an ethical debate, a human rights issue, a daily struggle against the intentional assault on our basic right to fundamentally exist. Our commodities are used as weapons; air, water, food. Our natural herbal remedies are being held hostage and the only options they provide coincide with their carefully

crafted pharmacological euthanasia agenda.

The oligarchy determines which interests are to be served, which values are to be marketed and which are to be demonized, in short, what people should believe and strive for. The people become debt slaves through the perpetuated welfare/warfare; problem, reaction, solution; totalitarian tiptoe. Free choice becomes obsolete and forsaken. Just getting through the day without bureaucratic infringement, money problems, and lack of concentration is a constant battle. Life begins to resemble being stuck in constant traffic; listening to the same five elementary radio hits, breathing in poisonous fumes, tuning into the same programming. En route to the job you can’t stand in order to pay for the car you can’t afford, the house you don’t own, and the college degree you don’t use. This is not an argument against organization. This is about making a stand against the draconian predatory system by supporting a holistic grassroots movement. The view of individual liberty - the belief that each individual should be free to pursue their own destiny is considered one of the greatest achievements of Western civilization. The ideal democracy operates by is the belief that policies and changes emerge from an independent and spontaneous process; that individu

als are the driving force turning the wheel of fortune and determining their future.

The ability of the people to regulate and control their economic decisionmaking is to develop an awareness that encompasses free-will and open markets. When the state controls more than half the economy just about all economic entities become dependent on government. Large, domineering corporations make available the easiest opportunities for collectivist conformity. We need to make the philosophic foundations of a free society once more a living rational issue, and its realization a duty which challenges the creativity and imagination. “Was the government to prescribe to us our medicine and diet, our bodies would be in such keeping as our souls are now” President Thomas Jefferson Rep. Ron Paul M.D recently introduced the first bill ever in Congress to end federal cannabis prohibition and is the chief sponsor for H.R. 1831, The Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2011. Vote Dr. Ron Paul 2012

Mass Medical Hearings Recently our 1000 Watts founder DJ Stone spoke in Massachusetts at a hearing concerning the legalization of Cannabis. DJ’s poignant testimony was only one of many. A retired state police officer Karen, spoke. She believes her time serving the state was better spent on focusing on more serious crimes instead of arresting people for Cannabis. She also suffered a stroke causing hot flashes and confusion. She felt as though she was unable to be a great mom to her children. Out of an act of desperation she tried Cannabis, It made her more alert, and attentive for her children. Jack Cole, a New Jersey state police undercover narcotics officer. Has spent his entire life trying to make a more drug free community and has always promoted proper drug use. “To save lives we must end drug prohibition.” While he was in office over 1000 people went to jail and more than half were on marijuana charges. He believes that if this bill is passed there will not be a concern for an increase in recreational use. However, it will provide the police with more time to concentrate on more important crimes. Not only former police spoke, there were a host of professionals from all walks of life from doctors to AIDS advocates. Everyone is in agreement that Cannabis should be ade legal, and especially it’s a no-brainer that medical use should be fully legalized and encouraged. Many doctors are afraid of looking bad to their colleagues if they prescribe Cannabis. Maybe if they got the same money kick-backs they get from prescribing pharmaceutical poison, for prescribing Cannabis it would be much more widespread. The bottom line is: money talks, and Cannabis proponents are starting to convince lawmakers of the myriad gains possible from ending prohibition.
