Usta so začetni del prebavnega kanala.

No matter how sexy and suggestive, the human mouth is primarily the instrument of eating; even its role in lovemaking has the quality of a sensual devouring of the lover. The mouth is the beginning of the alimentary canal. Every parts of the mouth contributes to the elemental function of digestion. However, the mouth participates also on the other spectrum; the most sophisticated aspect of human life, the precision of language. Moreover, the mouth carries breath, as life, spirit, soul, word, creation. Our mouths are equipped with the extraordinary number of nerve endings, and a large portion of our sensory cortex is dedicated to the mouth’s multiple activities. What is the mouth not able to do?

temperance or by following the rule of a modest measure. From the biblical references on sins, where gluttony is only one of many on the scale of anomalies of wantonness and pathology of an individual, especially in the contemporary Western society they are often supplemented by the extremes on the other side of the spectrum. They are well depicted exactly in the example of individual’s relationship towards food, its place in the society and related rituals. Art reflects contemporary society with all its particularities and does not forget to deal with the mouth as the cave of consumption in doing so. Creators address orality in their works as a form of a mediated or an experiential experience; they expose the differences between the edible and inedible; the relationship to the object of consumption; the roles of tasting and compensation. They offer an experience: a complex or a simple one, a rational and/or an experiential one. 5

S svojimi deli nas bodo počastili Sorour Darabi (nagrada strokovne žirije – Zürcher Theater Spektakel 2016), Chris Haring/Liquid Loft (prejemnik prestižne nagrade zlati lev za najboljšo predstavo na Beneškem bienalu 2007, dobitnik nagrade za profiliranega umetnika v polju uprizoritvenih umetnosti s strani avstrijskega Zveznega ministrstva za umetnost leta 2010), Anna Dankova, Ana Romih, Beno Novak, Ivan Mijačević, Aja Zupanec idr. Upamo, da boste zbudili svoje čute in okusili festivalsko ponudbo; ob umetniški tudi kulinarično in vinsko! Jasmina Založnik in Mojca Kasjak

Sometimes also by restructuring the performative space into a meeting space for a temporal but connected community. They achieve this in a very efficient way, by setting up a common table with food and drinks that we can all prepare, get to know, taste and share together. We will be honoured to see the works by Sorour Darabi (expert jury award – Zürcher Theater Spektakel 2016), Chris Haring/Liquid Loft (Golden Lion for best performance at the Venice Biennale 2007, he received the Outstanding Artists Award for performing arts from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Arts in 2010), Anna Dankova, Ana Romih, Beno Novak, Ivan Mijačević, Aja Zupanec and others. We hope you will awaken your senses and taste the festival offer; besides artistic, also culinary and wine treats! Jasmina Založnik and Mojca Kasjak

PREDSTAVE/PERFORMANCES

Četrtek/Thursday, 19. 9., 20.00, Lutkovno gledališče Maribor/Maribor Puppet Theatre

Anna Dankova: GOLEM gibalna predstava/movement performance Bolgarija/Bulgaria

Golem is a movement-based performance which explores the contemporary world constituted mainly by the free market and the global informational flow. The widely spread epidemic of consumerism is the crazy centrifuge of resources in terms of material products, emotions, sexual drives, desires. The performance ascetically chooses the simple routine act of chewing a gum for its only means of theatrical exploration. The project interprets the eternal dream for Paradise and circles around the trinity “emptiness – consumption – pollution” in the context of the ancient Jewish myth for Golem.

Ana Romih in/and Beno Novak: KONCERT TELESA/BODY CONCERT plesna predstava/dance performance Slovenija/Slovenia

Telesi iščeta skupen jezik, kar ju združuje in hkrati ustvarja razdaljo.

Body Concert speaks of two individual views on the theme of the sound of the bodies and the search for harmony between them. It is a physical performance where two bodies meet with the question of whether the body has a melody and how the body can be used as an instrument through movement. Searching for a common language, which brings them closer together and, at the same time, creates a distance.

Sorour Darabi: FARCI.E plesna predstava/dance performance Iran, Francija/Iran, France

Fotografija/Photo: Mehrdad Motejalli

This work investigates gender in a comprehensive and visceral way, from its biological (de)formations (the body), to its cultural constructions (sexual identity) and linguistic definitions (the gender of words and objects). With her/his words: “In my native language, Farsi, the word gender “‫”سنج‬ (jens), has two very different meanings: applied to human beings and animals, it refers to their biological sex, as in most languages. But, applied to things and objects, it refers to the material they are made of, for example, the “gender” of this table is wood. So, I have always thought about gender in terms of material, rather than sexual identity.”

“I heard of a short film in which the host made a meal for a family of four. The purchase price of ingredients did not surpass the sum that an average British family of four on the brink of poverty can afford to spend on a meal. I like to watch cooking shows. I cook for a few people more than in that show. At home, not by the sea as the chef on the screen. I dim the screen, I listen. I silence the sound and observe the colours and shapes of foodstuff that I know (not). But I do not smell nor taste them. Even if in some moments it seems as if I would. To get as close as possible to the insanity of 24-hourslong cooking travelogues, I obsessively record my kitchen adventures. I might notice the footbridge that leads across the precipice between the cracks in the image. Perhaps something might appear that is languishing at the bottom of the abyss that is gaping between the consumer’s armchair and the window into the world.” Ivan Mijačević

Aja Zupanec: KRIČEČE BLEŠČEČE/LITER OF GLITTER avtorska solo plesna predstava/solo dance performance Slovenija/Slovenia

Puhast, bleščeč svet, poln mehurčkov in sladkobe. Ženska pravljica, ki pod vprašaj postavlja romantične predstave in ideale srečnih koncev. Konec. Bleščeč? Kričeč? Samo da bo srečen, pravijo.

Fluffy, sparkling world full of bubbles and sweetness. A female fairy tale that questions romantic conceptions and ideals of happy endings. The end. Sparkling? Flashy? As long as it is happy, they say.

Chris Haring in/and Liquid Loft: DEEP DISH/GLOBOKA SKLEDA plesna predstava – koreografski film v živo; zadnji del niza Perfect Garden Series v sodelovanju z Michelom Blazyjem (FR) / dance performance - a live choreographic film; final part of the Perfect Garden Series in collaboration with Michel Blazy (FR) Avstrija/Austria

Zabava z večerjo se spremeni v pustolovsko vožnjo skozi dimenzije makro- in mikrokozmosa. Posnetki ročne kamere, ki jo usmerjajo performerji, v živo vodijo skozi bizarne paralelne svetove organskih objektov. Filmske metode v kombinaciji z izkrivljenim zvokom priklicujejo metafore baročnih vrtov, zemeljskih radosti in njihovega neizbežnega propada. Družba, utemljena na hlepenju in radovednosti, kričeče, a hkrati neusmiljeno slavi svojo minljivost v številnih dimenzijah realnosti, povečanih na filmskem platnu. Obilje narave neizbežno posrka vse gibe in človekovo vedenje v tem tihožitju.

A dinner party turns into an adventurous ride through the dimensions of macro- and microcosms. The live images of a handheld camera, directed by the performers, lead us through bizarre parallel worlds of organic objects. Methods of filmmaking, along with acoustic contortions, evoke metaphors of baroque gardens, earthly delights and their inevitable collapse. A society driven by longing and curiosity, flamboyantly but also callously celebrates its own transience in the manifold dimensions of reality, blown up on a big screen. In this still-life, all movement and human behaviour is inexorably absorbed by the opulence of nature.

When we deal with food today, we are often more interested in its looks than its taste. The aesthetics of food offer on social media revives and teases all our senses with the beauties of gastronomy and bodies. Cook books are still among the bestsellers while food blogs are incredibly popular, receiving countless views and likes. Food creation is trendy today, recipes feature always new combinations, ways and innovative approaches to preparation of food while giving a lot of attention to the catchy presentation of goodies for the wider public. The spectrum of tastes can be expressed through colours, perceived through the visual sense.

nje. Kaj narekujejo novi trendi?

Heightened awareness of consumers caused an expansion in the offer of biological products, which are mostly promoted as vegetarian, vegan, ayurvedic, etc. Now this is not only a la carte offer but the first choice for numerous heathy lifestyle enthusiasts. If you want to talk about gastronomy or at least experience real culinary pleasures, you should follow this trend. Good chefs are today almost more famous than supermodels. The first cooking show was presented by the BBC over half a century ago, in 1946, and even in that time they tried to feature certain specialties, new and exciting approaches and contemporary gastronomy is still looking for new challenges even today. Did the oral pleasures put the art itself in a shadow? Is it possible to speak of new gastronomic art? What are the reasons for the popularity and spread of gastronomic media presentations? What do these new trends dictate? 23
