Positive living How much do you value yourself? No one can write anything that will help you, no words will touch the scars that you bear until you really love and value yourself. How many people have you helped – even if only fleetingly, by a random act of kindness freely given? How many people do you carry on your shoulders even now? What would you finish? What would you change? What would you want your life to have been about? When we are stricken by pain and illness we lament the loss of health and ability, but when we are able, when life just rolls on – we dismiss – or see past the whole thriving structure of what we live for and why in the first place we chose to do it. We take things for granted. Time is not endless. It’s limited. A whole lifetime is over in just a short while and we can see this in action for ourselves as we take a look back down the years, through our life and the time that’s been spent here. What we did with the hours, days and weeks, how they were used was entirely up to us. But we don’t think about this usage at all; time is just taken for granted as we use it. We imagine it will always be there. We see it stretch before us far ahead like a seeming abyss without limit or care; and it does, because time itself will go on and on – but not us… We are limited. Just like sands draining through an egg timer - our own time will one day run out. Every day you wake up is a gift – not a chore. It’s a prize that ought to be valued. Not because you’ve been asked to do it, but because you realise its value. You chose to be here in this time frame. You went through immense pain to be born. You’ve struggled for years to get to this point – but now you are here, what does it mean to you personally? Are you happy? Are you living and reaping the full bounty of your efforts? Every day do you live or do you simply live to get by? Every person birthed physically for reasons that only they know, for reasons of soul and development, improvement... What is your purpose? What have you gained from all you’ve been through? Why do you do what you do? Have you ever stopped to think, to take stock or reassess? Have you ever stopped to check where you’re going? If you don’t value your own time and effort – why on Earth would anyone else? Each day has a beginning and a definite end. We don’t think about it often because we know that another will come around tomorrow and the next day and the day after that... Yet life is not endless. It’s just a time slot within the total expanse of time for whole of the planet. If your own time ran out – what would you take back as your prize? As

your payback for having lived here right now? What have you learned? What have you achieved? What have you given freely or shared? Do you live a live script that you choose, program and write – or are you limited by what’s playing out? Do you feel trapped or supressed, over trodden or depressed? Nothing is gained from your sadness and worry – but more of the same day in and day out, because life can only mirror back what first you’ve sent out through your thoughts, beliefs and requests. For things to change – you must change. You must begin to alter what you think, how you act and what you do automatically, without really thinking or knowing what you do – within the space of your own mind and life. Expectations of struggle, no matter how true they’ve been for you in the past, must be laid down and turned on their head – for life to click into a new gear, to be able to start helping you… Nature looks after its own and you too are part of nature, part of life, part of a living, thriving picture playing out in real time. You are powerful. You create. You take live thought and energy and make it physically manifest and work for you! Do you value your own capabilities? Do you value your effort and time? Do you live your life’s dream – or are you just treading water, with the hope that one day – even after your passing, that someone will see the real you? Do you wait to be rescued? Are you waiting for help? Do you crave understanding or more recognition for the hard work and pain you’ve been through? All these things and more are now over, they’re behind you and gone. There’s no need to drag further anything you don’t need. There’s no need to spoil the day that you’re in… All your dreams have been met. You passed goal posts you set long ago. So what do you want now? What do you need? How do you want life to change or play out? Every day is a gift. Your life is very valuable and time is the most precious thing you own! So once again – How much do you value yourself?

This month we thought we would have a bit of fun with the review and look at our soapbox that we entered in the world famous Newport Pagnell soapbox race. With his slick yellow outfit Andy was ready to take to the road.
Our team was the yellow belly’s and apparently we came forth but I am not sure how as we lost more races than we won? We had a slight issue as a wheel fell off in the practise run that we did the Friday before the race so we had to draft in Roy pinks for emergency repairs and new wheels. Even that didn’t really help us as the wheel broke on the cart in the first race with help from Dave at Astons and his coat hanger we managed to get her back

on the road and finished another 4 races. It was a great morning out lots of fun and I would strongly recommend it next year and a big thank you to everybody that came out to support us.

National Care Home Open Day

he sun shone all afternoon as National Care Home Open Day was celebrated at Kents Hill Care Home on Friday 20th June. Residents and their families, visitors and staff enjoyed a delicious barbeque and a wonderful strawberry cream tea. Local MP Iain Stewart was guest of honour and took time to speak with many residents and their families. Other visitors included CQC inspector, Sally and local community support officers who certainly enjoyed the food!
The idea behind the National Care Home Open Day is to encourage local people to visit care homes in their neighbourhood and work together to develop better relationships between the home and the community. Manager, Carolyn Paterson said, “The event was a great success. All the staff went the extra mile and we had a lovely afternoon in the company of delightful friends and visitors who were introduced to our Home which we all are very proud of.”

MP’s Diary £2.9m MK Hospital A&E Expansion Having campaigned to support and fund our hospital for over 10 years it has always been an emotive issue. Both Iain Stewart MP and I have been working behind the scenes to spearhead the campaign for investment in our hospital. After success earlier in the year when we received the 4th largest health budget settlement in the country, further good news came in July over our efforts to upgrade facilities at the Accident and Emergency Department. With one of the most physically constrained A&E facilities in the country, I’m delighted that Jeremy Hunt the Health Secretary has indicated that MK Hospital could be in line to receive an additional £2.9m funding to physically

More importantly this extra funding for the A&E, will be a hugely significant vote of confidence in our hospital, especially at a time whilst we look at ways to work more closely with surrounding areas. Wheelie great success for hospital charity

atients at Milton Keynes Hospital have access to even more wheelchairs now thanks to a £3,000 donation from Skyline taxis. Staff from Skyline came into the hospital today (June 13) to see the new wheelchairs. They are delighted at the difference these will make to patients and visitors at the hospital.

Introducing...Secklow Sounds’ presents the ‘Grumpy old men’ ...A trio with a mission
W
hat began with a few gripes and moans on an occasional Saturday morning has grown into a full blown 2-hour live show that attracts a dedicated audience of regular followers.
These include many ex-pats living overseas in places as far apart as Australia, India and Canada who keep abreast of controversial home news and events by listening to the programme via Spreaker. The show is hosted by veteran presenter, Mike Barry who is joined by regulars, Bob Bluffield and Alan Mallyon. Each week the trio presents a lively show packed with debate, controversy, chat, argument, a little music and a certain element of frivolity. It is a show that pulls no punches by setting out to expose wrong-doing and to stand up for the causes of the under-privileged and those that have found themselves victimised by bureaucracy. The discussion frequently emphasises the marked lack of commonsense and forethought expressed by the big businesses, the police, legal system, local authorities and the Government and seeks to address issues that the ‘Grumpies’ consider are examples of political incompetence and crass stupidity. Mike Barry, a former mayor of Milton Keynes, has been a familiar voice on local radio for as long as anyone can remember; Bob Bluffield is best known as a former Woburn Sands based professional photographer now turned author; the third, and youngest member of the trio, is Newport Pagnell entrepreneur and

former local MK council ‘cabinet’ member, Alan Mallyon. The successful balance of the programme spawned a second show jointly presented by Mike and Bob to fill the Friday breakfast slot. Bob has been scripting ‘Pop and Rock Legends’ - a two-hour show that features the life and music of a different group or artiste. The show has been running since March and is growing in popularity. So far the featured artistes have included Dusty Springfield, The Kinks, Moody Blues, Eagles, Chris Rea, Marianne Faithfull, Brian Wilson, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Chicago and others. All shows are still available to hear online through Spreaker.com. The format occasionally changes to provide a pot pourri of several notable artistes that are likely to bring memories flooding back for some listeners. The ‘Grumpy Old Men’ is broadcast live from 08:00-10:00 every Saturday; ‘Pop and Rock Legends’ fills the same time slot every Friday morning.
