She has been featured in countless magazines to include, Modern Salon, Behind the Chair, Essence, InStyle, and Sophisticates Black Hair. Her work also includes celebrities such as Melanie Fiona, Nelly, and Keisha Cole. She has extensive styling techniques which really bring to life the creative art of hair styling. Powered by a motivation to not only succeed but set the examples other hair stylist can begin to understand their craft. Hair styling is more than just a quick up-do. It is valuing the craft as a critical part in the overall fashion and styling industry. Hair can make or break a shoot or editorial just like bad makeup, photography , fashion styling and model.

M K: Wh at in spir es you abou t bein g a h air st ylist ? Several things: I love to meet new clients and collaborate with them about their hair needs. It?s a partnership. We work together and discuss styles, challenges, how to maintain healthy hair, etc. And then I have the privilege of making it all come to life. I love to visualize a hairstyle? see it before I actually complete it? and then use my skills and inspiration to create it. I love to teach new stylists about the secrets to successful hairstyles, what great customer service looks like, and how to maintain longevity in this industry. I believe that the more you know, the more you grow. Plus, where I can, I want to make it easier for new stylists so they don?t make some of the same mistakes I did when I first started. I love to freelance, individually and on teams, for a variety of jobs? commercials, international fashion shows, television programs, personal styling, etc. When I go on these assignments, I always learn something different. I often get to experience new cultures and new challenges, which keeps things fresh and helps me continue to grow personally and professionally. M K: Tell u s w h at def in es you per son ally? Three words come to mind when I think of what defines me personally: Authentic. I always try to approach a project in its purest form. Yes, I?m influenced by what I see, hear about, and experience as a stylist. But for each project, I work hard to lay those influences aside, be in the moment, and create from a pure place. Visionary: I like to foresee how I can take something ordinary, like the color blue or a current hair trend, and then add my creativity to make it unique and whatever someone needs. Integrity: There are standards I stick to as a stylist? not doing a style if I don?t think it?s healthy for the hair, not doing a style simply for the money, putting clients first, and others. Working with integrity has given me longevity in this industry. MK: What are some personal goals or challenges you have achieved? Started and maintained a successful salon for 26 years. Opportunities to travel as a freelance stylist to experience different cultures and creative approaches. M K: Wh at m ak es you u n iqu e? (please be specif ic) My ability to be inspired by any and everything around me. Many people may walk by certain objects or scenes and not think twice about them, but I?ll see the same things and it will inspire me to create. That?s why I love to travel to other countries and explore their cultures, or sit on a park bench watching the movement and colors of the leaves on a tree, or sit under the Brooklyn Bridge to observe people. I?ve made a chandelier out of packing paper. Wigs out of rope. I love to create something out of what appears to be nothing.

M K: How is t h e h air an d beau t y scen e w h er e you ar e? Currently, the beauty scene seems somewhat manufactured. It?s not so much about your skill and ability as a hairstylist, but how well you market yourself and create a massive social media following. But that?s not sustainable. I think the hair and beauty industry is about to turn the corner, though, and go through a revolutionary change. I think the focus is going to shift to influencers who represent authenticity and substance? people that promote natural, healthy, beautiful hair.

M K: Wh at cit ies or cou n t r ies ar e you in t er est ed in explor in g you r cr af t ? Europe, Africa, Hong Kong, Australia, and Canada. MK: Why did you agree to be featured in Mkovah Magazine? I researched your magazine and liked the style, plus saw that it was fairly new. I saw it as a chance for me to help others move forward in our industry as so many people have helped me throughout my career.

MK: What inspires you to be a designer? BA: Since I was a child, my dream was to be a fashion designer. After I studied fashion and textile design in Milan, Italy, I changed my mind and I decided to be a bag designer. Because In Turkey there is no designer who is making bags with exotic skins. MK: Tell us what defines you personally? BA: Since the beginning I took inspiration from the past. I really enjoy mixing past, today and future. Being timeless is important for me. Almost every design, I am trying to add a paticular element from the nature. It could be a color, a pattern or a shape? MK: What are some personal goals or challenges you have achieved? BA: Since 8 year BEGART DESIGN is the only bag brand who is working on only exotic skins. People know that if they need handmade and exotic bags, they can com eand check our designs. Or we can make personal designs to customer needs. We are the only designer brand that we got invitation from Paris Premiere Classe Tuileries Fair during Paris Fashion week. So, we started to work with international shops. Now we are sending our designs more than 20 countries. MK: What makes you unique? (please be specific) BA: Working with exotic skins makes us unique. Because leathers like python, crocodile, stingray are hard to work materials. If the customer likes your handcraft, she/he will always be your customer. Loyalty is important for us. So we always select our materials from the top quality suppliers. And creating our designs in our atelier, making by hand in Istanbul.

ISTANBUL, TURKEY MK: Tell us about some memorable moments of your designer ambitions? BA: Three years ago when we were exhibiting our designs in Paris fashion week, one of my idol suddenly came our booth to saw my collection. I was paralyzed because she was Iris Apfel! This was the unforgettable moment of my life because she loved our unique designs? MK: What are the things in your city or country that inspire your creativity? BA: Well, ?am so lucky because I?m living one of the most beautiful city. Istanbul gives you the traces of the Ottoman Empire that are reflected on our day, and on the other hand, it presents the modern face of the world . MK: How is the designer scene where you are from? BA: Last 10 years, very creative designers are started to show their designs from different parts from Turkey. A lot of univercity add a branch for fashion and design. Especially young people needs courage while they are introducing their brand. So please support young designers! MK: What kind of feedback you are getting from fans? BA: Well, our fans likes our limitless colors! We always add new colors and materials to our designs. They always visit our stores? Even she has five colors already from one design, she would like to add the new color to her collection. And sometimes they send pictures while they are using and I feel so good when I saw their smiling faces with our bags. MK: Tell us about your content you put out. What is the general goal there? BA: I am always checking all around the world, customer needs, their feedbacks. If we introduce something new, I am trying to mix those elements on the new design. MK: Reflecting on your personal journey what advice would you give others struggling with getting into industry in general? BA: The most importing think is being patient. Because as you know market is so big and customer is limited. They need to focus on their target to be successful. And never give up! MK: Why did you agree to be featured in Mkovah Magazine? BA: I thought it would be nice to reach people who didn't know us or who haven't discovered us yet. Thank you for giving us space on your new issue.
