M AGAZINE M KOVAH magazine was born to be a platform for and by the people. A magazine that enlists the world community to give their thoughts, ideas and opinions. We are here to highlight and showcase those in the arts, business, politics and general community. Our magazine is being built to be a global voice and example of inspiration. A magazine of diversity. A magazine consistent with informing, educating and elevating the mindset of people. We are inspired by those who reinvent themselves. We are all in the truest essence a family of one with a variety of perceptions, understandings and passions. What effects one will eventually effect the other. Please review this video as it is one that drives me to create a media platform of significance and historic value.

Why I star ted
?
I started MKOVAH because I was inspired to create something that would give me a sense of purpose. Many people dream but not until you have actionable dreams. Dreams that you impose upon yourself to actually bring to life. Then all you are really doing is having a random fantasy. Many people do not challenge what they desire. Often people are satisfied with their jobs, relationships, and just day to day. They often forget that inclusive of those things there lies a grand purpose for us all. I am driven and drawn to the things that impact people. I love photography. I also love the journey of building. One day I was binge watching POWER on Starz and something hit me. I am spending nearly 12 hours committed to watching a television show. What am I doing for myself. I am fascinated by the success, style and downright flavor of the show. However, when and how does that really benefit me. I came to the realization that I was living through what I was watching vs being the story and plot in my own life. I went in my son's room and looked at him. I thought. "What kind of legacy can I leave him by watching a t.v. show?" My job he cannot inherit. All of the moments, hours and days wasted not building something I can call my own. Something my son can say "this is our family business." I realized then that what God put in me I was wasting. I immediately started mental planning and then putting to paper my next moves. The magazine became the outgrowth of my thoughts. It would allow me to reach people from all around the world. It would allow me to grow the photography and build a successful social media business. The magazine would be the platform by which I could connect people. I could build my network. I could provide a centralized place where people could express their talents, concerns and passions. A diverse and global publication. One that I can constantly grow and one day by my "CNN to the World." So, now, I am implementing my game plan. Building a global social media platform for fashion, news, entertainment and everyday people who don't have the clout to have their voices heard on mainstream media. M INDFUL OF EXPECTATIONS We often only see the world from the eyes of "look at them over there." We applaud and are in awe of people of perceived greatness. We are fascinated how they speak. We are excited by how they present themselves to the world. We look at their successes and we fantasize about ourselves in the same situation. We joke about being rich. How we would live life to its fullest if only we had the same opportunity, or won the lottery. It is o.k. to really admire and look up to people in our mind whom are great. However, take this note, the same people in order to be the way they are came to a conclusion a long time ago. Maybe when they were a dishwasher. Maybe when the college degree was only landing them low paying jobs. Maybe even when everyone said stop dreaming and "Get Real." They came to a conclusion or better yet realization. They could not limit their expectation of themselves, nor allow the expectation of others to be a wall between them and their dreams. The people you see as great, successful, or just beyond phenomenal are no different from you. The only difference is their real EXPECTATION of themselves. Say what you will about how bad you want something. Proclaim to the world, "if only I had this or that in my life." How that would be the "secret" sauce to push you over to being great. When you realistically only have a limited expectation of yourself. You program yourself so well to "Talk" a big game but your mind and body do exactly what you really expect from yourself, basically nothing but DREAM or Fantasize. What is it you have put off in your life? What is it you have convinced yourself you can't do because your lack of money, skills or general know how? What have you just totally ignored? The career advancement, new business, relationship with that person you so adore or is it just that you've convinced yourself there is nothing special about you. Change your "Self Expectation" and you will literally change your life and you too will be GREAT! By

M KOVAH M agazin e pr esen t s Social Ch at t er Per cept ion is Realit y; a look in t o Per spect ives Is perception reality? When we look at the word perception, we understand that it is an understanding a person develops. It is the impression and belief system formed based on their personal life experiences. There are an estimated 7 billion people on this planet who bring their perceptions to the forefront which shape and create their point of view, stance, and frame of mind. In other words their perspective. Some people are open-minded enough to consider another 's perspective. They are able to realize, understand and accept that their own perceptions may not be the only perspective about any subject. There are those who are able to incorporate information and experiences from many different sources to discover other perspectives, thus possibly changing their perception of the world. It is a wonderful thing to have people on this planet who are able to embrace new information and tolerate a new angle or approach to situations. How else would we formulate and test new theories of research about everything under the sun? How did psychologists delve into our psyche in order to understand why we behave the way we do? How could doctors develop new cures for diseases if they remained ignorant of new treatment? How could detectives search out and prosecute criminals without following clues and looking at cases from all angles? How could teachers develop new ways to reach the most challenging students if not by exploring how different children learn? Without scientists, there would be no cultural progression. Embracing a multitude of perceptions and accepting the perspectives of many, fueled the Renaissance. A period in history with great advances in politics, philosophy, art, music and religion. Many of which are still respected and recognized to this day. On the other hand, there are those who are convinced that their insight and perception are the only right way of considering things. This narrowed way of thinking is where all of our "isms" and phobias are born. Perceptions like Racism, Sexism, Classism, Communism, and Socialism, come from closed minds. Lack of understanding other perspectives promote irrational fears such as Xenophobia, Homophobia, and Islamophobia. All of these perspectives become dangerous when supporters of these attitudes become zealots who force their views with indifference and insensitivity for the perceptions of others.

Social Chat t er Although there are plenty of both types of people; the open and closed minded, somehow we as human beings have found a way to live together on this planet. We have not always been capable of living in harmony with one another however, as evidenced by protests, movements, wars, slavery and genocide. All deriving from a clash in perspectives due to opposition to one another ?s perceptions. The big picture, at the core of all of this is that we all want to be understood, heard, respected, and appreciated for our uniqueness. What a wonderful world it would be if we could accept and realize this planet is a richer place because of our differences. Beautiful symphonies are written because of a combination of different notes. Food tastes scrumptious when you add together a few different spices. Fashion is most attractive when designers put together various colors and fabrics. The earth shows off an array of flowers, birds, trees, insects and fish all for our enjoyment. Even our fingerprints are different though we are all human at the end of the day. As humans, we all possess the same fundamental needs for survival such as food, clothing, shelter and love. We need to give love to receive love. MKOVAH Magazine wants to know what side of the fence you are on. Will you open your mind and join us? Is there room for the perspective of others? Will you listen to the stories of others, or do you hold the belief that your perception is reality; the only way? Are you able to grow and flow or are you content to remain still and stagnant as the world passes by? Either way, we want to hear from you. Let?s start the conversation. Let?s create some Social Chatter. If you?re out there, we will reach you.

THE TRUM P EFFECT? PRESIDENT, DONALD TRUMP like it or not is our new President of the United States of America. He represents us regardless if we want him to or not. The reality is that any man in that seat of power truly bears a burden that most of us would not want. He is still the figure head of the mightiest country in the world. People are becoming more and more unraveled by his style of leadership. Though on the points of "America First" he is valid however, that's a little bit too little too late. We owe China billions. We have relied to heavily on foreign workers. Other nations around the world smelling the blood in the water. It's like he is positioning the country for some unseen agenda. My viewpoints on him is sometimes100% for and then he does something crazy and I am 100% against. I believe he means well but only in his reality of business. Politics at this level is a wait and see. In this country where the rule of law and the balance of powers will greatly limit Pres. Trump I honestly do believe he will push every corner to get exactly what he wants. The key thing to look for in the coming months and year is if he has what it takes to really fulfill that seat with dignity. Will he be able to rattle the American people with mixed feelings and emotions and push that toward economic and social change.
WWW.M KOVAHM AGAZINE.COM ISSUE 1 2017
Per spect iveV i e w s Will he keep the promise in full forward motion to build the wall. How will he deal with the billions in drugs that come from Mexico and other South American countries? What kind of deals or concessions are really on the table for the Arab nations. Considering the fact that the citizens known for the 9/11 and other U.S. targets came from countries not on the restriction. or travel ban. What will be the economic shifts? We know there is more to come and all we can do is cross our fingers and hope for the best. by Gar y Tillm an

This is issue #1 it will lay the foundation of what else is to come. The magazine will contain more pages as each section expands and develops. MKOVAH MAGAZINE will over the next 12 months grow to include MKOVAH CHICAGO, MKOVAH NEW YORK, MKOVAH LOS ANGELES, MKOVAH MIAMI, MKOVAH CANADA, and MKOVAH UNITED KINGDOM. We will not stop there but the 1st 12 months will be great and will lay foundation for a global publication. Incorporating video, editorial content, fashion, and the inspiration of people just like you. A magazine of DIVERSITY. A magazine which DEFINES its self. An organization that REACHES THE M ASSES. A movement that DOES WHAT IT WANTS. My vision is to have an international social media platform that binds us from all over the globe. Giving a voice to the voiceless. Building a platform that creates bridges. One that regardless of our differences will show and demonstrate how alike we all are. We all dream, love, suffer, and aspire to "BE" something greater yet often it takes that push or inspiration to get us to where we desire. MKOVAH is here to make global history. -

by Olivia Rosen ber g There are plenty more we chose but it is way to difficult to find your favorite. Though some on the team as a consensus felt these looks would be the best to feature. Fashion is an amazing thing. The varied cuts, color schemes, fabrics and even the mood of presentation is just amazing. A lot of money goes into a fashion week presentation. Imagine coughing up a measly $18,000 to up and beyond $65,000. Just to show your work. We are just talking about the venue. Let's not even start with getting trained models, skilled service providers like makeup and hair stylists. You have to pay for Public Relations and a slew of other pre and post marketing. Then let's say insurance. How can you have an event and not insure yourself and products. Then keeping adding it up and you bring in the cost of travel, food, and other random expenses. This is why designers need investors or some rich uncle with deep pockets. The business is brutal because just because you spent the money does not mean that the buyers, magazines, and others their to check out your pieces will give a care about your work enough to fall all out for it. Fashion is a heavy financial and personal ordeal. The real world of fashion design is about when the best meet the best and
every man (or woman) is for themselves. New models getting in the game and confusing fashion shows at the highest level with those on low budget level as equal. They often forget the business aspect. I ask models a lot do you think you are ready for fashion week? Do you think you are worth the added investment by a designer for an all ready expensive endeavor to choose you. You are too short, work ethic is shot, and you don't work to earn your spot. You think its just easy. Show up and tag you are it. The best training for a model looking to get into fashion week or any major fashion show is to invest in themselves. Learn the business side. Research and find designers who are on their way up. Develop a high fashion portfolio. Study and Practice your look and walk. Hone your skills and invest in hunting down real solid designers with the potential for the next level. There are many markets where High Fashion opportunities exist but don't overlook Lifestyle, Swimsuit, Lingerie, Avant Gard and types of opportunities. They have fashion shows as well. Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Miami in the U.S. will more than likely be common spots. However, try going overseas. Trust me , overseas models are coming to the U.S. for all kinds of opportunities. Why don't you steal a page from their playbook.

1540s, from Middle French persistance, from persistant "lasting, enduring, permanent," from Latin persistentem (nominative persistens), present participle of persistere (see persist). Often spelled persistance 16c. Related: Persistency.
I chose to write this at the end. It has been years since I have endeavored to do the magazine and even photography. I was driven to do what I am doing. All of us have a specific purpose in life. The things we must do regardless to whom or what. I knew I needed a certain attitude and focus. I mentally committed 18 hours a day to encompass my day job and the magazine. I knew like before there would be let downs. People who would say they wanted to help but really were more talk than show. I understood there would be people around me who had better "sight" than "vision". Meaning, looking at only what is in front and disregarding the vision. I knew that the sleepless nights would test me. The temptation to just watch t.v. , and do things that would have taken hours from me while gaining nothing. I had to focus on maintaining a balance in my health, my job and my 5 year old. I understood this and I moved forward. It is easy to just relax. It is easy to tell yourself I am "all good" and I have what I need. There are so many opportunities but opportunities available
are not always best for you to jump on. You have to know if you have the discipline and mental fortitude (or ) persistance to move it forward. I believe I am on a mission to fulfill my destiny. I created this magazine for those in the world who themselves are fighting and pursuing their passions. The magazine is specifically designed to feed into a specific game plan. It is not just thrown together. The magazine is only the beginning and it is laying the foundation to what is yet to come. A man who does not test the extent of his will to "Be" is not worthy of any benefits of life. Pleasure belongs to him who endeavors the most. Eliminate excuses, distance yourself from distractions and be prepared to have those closest to you to be your worse critic and naysayer. Remember, all of what creates agony and pain is often there to remind you how good things were without the agony and pain. You just have to remind yourself that without pain, agony, resistance, and doubt you can never truly test your will and to see if you really are prepared for what you say you want.
