MKThink uses data and analytics to optimize operational and cultural alignment, for increased productivity and asset value. We analyze data to gain insight into system dynamics and run scenarios on our 4Daptive analytics platform, to determine the “best fit strategy.

We create spaces to reflect and support both the brands and the people who define them. Our designs are driven by metrics beyond beauty and comfort to support activities and cultures, creating value for our clients.

Town School for Boys San Francisco, CA

Modernize and adapt to new technology, teaching, and learning methods The new Town School environment was carefully considered from re-thinking classroom spaces to creating new spatial typologies to support a dynamic curriculum. We restructured the daily schedule for maximial utilization and minimal latent space to complement the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) classrooms, collaboration space, and a new Commons area.

Town School for Boys

The roof of the school became a practice field for physical education, making use of the precious real estate in the tight urban footprint.

The STEAM corridor connects to the facility as a whole. A garage door can be opened to visually and physically link the space to its neighboring classrooms.

The atrium filters natural light to each floor and provides visual connectivity for students and administrators. This new Commons fosters a sense of community and advances the school culture.

Woodside Priory Performing Arts Center Portola Valley, CA

A state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center (PAC) for a top college preparatory school The new facility comprises three structures clustered around a plaza, including a flexible performance auditorium with retractable seating for 400, a black box drama theater, and a professional set production shop, as well as chorus and orchestra classrooms. The plaza is central, defining the primary campus entrance, providing both an outdoor living room and an alternative space to congregate, learn, and perform. Completed 2009 | GSF 20,673 sf

“THE WHOLE CULTURE OF THE PLACE SAYS ‘WE’RE LOOKING FOR BETTER IDEAS,’ NOT ‘KEEP YOUR FEET OFF THE FURNITURE.’ EVERY ELEMENT IS MEANT TO STIR INNOVATION...” –DAVID KELLY, IDEO

Stanford d.school

Stanford, CA

Three entities, one dynamic new space The Hasso Plattner Institute of Design, The Design Group, and the Center for Design Research would share Stanford’s new d.school. MKThink did an extensive ethnographic study utilizing videos, interviews, and surveys, providing a foundation for an innovative design to accommodate these creative disciplines in one space. We allowed for potential areas of collaboration and overlap to enhance the learning space for students of all three. COMPLETED 2009 | GSF 29,500 sf

Stanford Law School William H. Neukom Building Stanford, CA

Interior solutions accommodate a growing student population MKThink transformed a 72,000 square-foot, Brutalist-style building into a full campus, including complete reconstruction of 16 classrooms and lecture halls, a new faculty building, and 600 new residential units - all designed for the ultimate user experience and efficiency in keeping with the integrity and reputation of a world class university. COMPLETED 2012 | GSF 72,000 sf

Students enjoy an extraordinary collaborative environment with cutting-edge facilities. The William H. Neukom building enhances the Law School’s status as a premiere educational institution supporting their mission to be “an ideal environment for exploring and mastering the law”.

With the digital age, space previously dedicated to collections was redesigned for much needed research, group, and independent study areas.

Stanford Law Crown Quad Stanford, CA

Renovation and expansion MKThink led a summer-break, fast-tracked overhaul, which included new classrooms, legal clinics, moot court room, and multi-storied law library. We also headed the strategic assessment and concept validation for a new 60,000 sf faculty and clinics facility.
