What is PLCbus? PLCbus Protocol encrypted 2-way communication home automation Powerline Control Bus (PLCBUS) is a highly reliable, cost effective, 2-way Communications technology which enables control products to utilize existing power lines for both residential and commercial applications. This protocol for home automation, was developed by ATS in the Netherlands in 2002, the name used initially in the development phase was: Power Line Communication Bus. However during its production and marketing the brand name was adopted PLC-BUS. The system reliability is high > 99.98%. It is different to X-10 products that no any Filter/Repeater needed necessary. And PLCBUS Technology can be distributed up to 64000 different addresses. Alternative powerline communication technologies, either existing or in development are not effective or reliable enough to meet the requirements of the midrange Europe residential market. The PLCBUS technology opens previously untapped overlapping markets in the areas of Home Networking, Lighting Control, HVAC, Home Automation, RF Control, Security, Home Theater, Internet Enabled Control, etc.

Functionalities The 2-way communication signal allows at any moment to know the status of micro-modules, ON or OFF or% Dimmer. In graphical interfaces control (Touchscreens, TVs, PCs or PDAs or Smartphones) you can get an overview of the state apparatus and the generality of the installation. To facilitate the assimilation of this new technology by the market and increase the use of microactuator modules produced based on PLC-BUS technology. The strategy was first to compatible PLC-BUS Radio Frequency receivers so that they can use RF, currently being used in the market by the common X10. This was achieved through the development of a receiver Hybrid Radio Frequency module that commands all remote controllers and X10 RF and distributes the electricity grid in the form of code PLCBUS processed to act on the various components of the system. This allows the cohabitation of the two technologies at the same installation as the PLC BUS signals over the network, do not affect or collide with the X10 signals and vice versa. The general opinion of the users of this technology is unanimous with regard to the reliability and speed of execution of commands.

Applications It can be used as a support network of communication, the wiring installation itself, and this protocol does not imply a substantial change in the electrical architecture of the buildings and provides the chance to make the installation of an automation system in a scalable, this is, specific needs of each function you wish to incorporate in a building at any given time. The implementation of an automation system based on this technology can be done either in buildings under construction or in buildings already completed and does not involve the existence of specific wiring for the communication bus. In lighting, using appropriate modules and devices it allows the cost of electricity management, allied with motion sensors and dusk sensor, the illumination of a division which is empty is no longer turned on. It avoids the discomfort of finding the switch in a dark room, and the outside lights turn on automatically when it gets dark. Energy consumption can be optimized taking into account the presence / absence of people within a division, habits and schedules of each. Plugholes can be designed to allow the installation of lamps and equipment. In the rooms it can be created different kinds of lighting by connecting the lamps to these plugholes. You can still take advantage of the features of the controlled sockets in order to reduce unnecessary spending. These plugholes can be controlled locally or remotely. Warming is the biggest energy consumer in a building; therefore we centralize in our energy management. You can do the scheduling to enable / disable equipment for heating, ventilation or air conditioning maintaining a high level of comfort. Programming can be done in order to turn on the air conditioning just before you get home, keeping an operation according to schedule, presence of people and outside temperature.

Through a system of PLCbus Home Automation, you can control remotely via the Internet, several lighting outdoor elements, interior lighting, plugholes, heating, electric curtains, irrigation channels, open doors / gates, check the status of doors and windows among others. If you are on vacation and found that by mistake there were lighting circuits turned on, electric curtains opened, irrigation channels turned on, simply access the website via the Internet, and act directly on the circuit, connecting or disconnecting them. The same applies to the case of an alarm trigger (gas, intrusion, fire). You can also change the previously established schedule for irrigation systems, heating, outdoor lighting, etc., without needing to call to a service facility.
In short, this first approach to the system PLCbus can retain the following characteristics: • Automation system that uses the power grid and communications network; • System that allows the existence up to 64,000 addresses in the same facility; • System that does not interfere with the architecture of the building; • System that allows the use of equipment to maneuver (push buttons) of any brand or model; • Speed and reliability in the execution of commands; • Possibility of integration with various types of user interface (remote controls, touchscreens, smartphones, PCs, etc; • Several PLCbus system software control, except that the user or installer may use the one that best meet their needs;

Wired-in switches can be converted by OLCbus controllability by simply replacing them with the appropriate PLCbus switch. In certain applications you may wish to replace the wall receptacle with PLCbus receptacle. In-line Micromodules are also available for elegant permanently mounted controls. Infrared control of TV/DVD, etc can be integrated with PLCbus control through the use of an IR device controller. This enables you to use any PLCbus controller to turn on or off IR devices in your home. If your use #3023E, also can use any X10 remote control PLCbus system directly. Media Panel provide you a colorful audio/video enjoyment, you can even watch movie in it.

High Reliability: PLCbus uses low frequency, spread spectrum technology which produces a very strong signal. In addition, PLCbus uses true 2-way communications, allowing devices to reveal their status with each other, providing feedback that commands have been successfully executed. This combines to result in reliable communications that are greater than 99% accurate.
No New Wires 100% powerline communication, no new wires. PLCbus products are fit to be fixed in any kind of residential environments and large commercial installation such as stadiums and gymnasiums.
High Speed Supports 0.3 second response time or 10 full commands per second which is 20 or 40 times faster than other Powerline technologies. This increase in speed delivers a lighting control system that is a very responsive to the touch.
Two Way Communications The media and protocol must be designed to be fully two-way for a variety of set up, configuration, and computer control reasons. PLCbus will be 100% two-way capable. It can check the lights ON/OFF Status.
64.000 Addresses Multiple houses on one transformer will be separated by means of an addressing scheme allowing for at least 250 different families, and control up to 256 lights or appliances for each family. PLCbus system incorporates over 64,000 total address space vs 256 for conventional X-10.
Compatibility PLCbus should be able to be used in the same environment as other Powerline technologies, such as X-10, CEBus, or LonWorks, without causing unacceptable interactions.
