Dear Mallory, I’m you from the future. I wanted to inform you that you need to relax. Everything will turn out fine. There’s no reason to stress about prom, school, friends, or sports. Prom will be great. You will have the time of your life with your friends and you will dance the night away. School is the last thing you need to worry about. You are smart. Don’t think so much into everything or else you will just make things harder. You know your stuff and that’s all that matters. The SATs may be coming up but as long as you use you common sense even though you think you don’t have any. Your friends will be with you forever. No one could ever get in the way of your friendships. Your friendships with Selby, Bryttni, and Noelle are unbreakable. You love each other so much nothing could break your bond. As for sports, this may be difficult for you now but when you look back on it, you will see that stressing over sports was a waste of time. You will become a great front row player for volleyball, knowing never to let a ball pass by you without being hit. And as for basketball, you will end up going on, playing varsity your senior year and being a star player. All the younger kids will look up to you and you will be so glad you played. So stop worrying and stressing. Just have fun and don’t worry about what could happen. Just go with the flow and live your life. Dream as if you’ll live forever and live as if you’ll die today. Remember this quote and live by it throughout your life.
Love, Future Mallory
Notes: I chose to do a poster card to myself from the future because I thought it would be fun to imagine how things might turn out. I also did it because there are so many things that I’ve been stressing over and it’s good to have some reassurance that everything is going to be okay even if it is just myself. The quote that I used is a quote that I heard a while back when I was visiting my cousin at his college. It always stuck by it and I always think of it when I making decisions
because you do only live once so why pass things up. So the whole basis for this piece was to sort of advise myself that things will be okay and that worrying about everything will only make things worse. I need to just go with the flow and calm down.
