Railroad in the heart of mountain Tara In the heart of mountain Tara, on Mokra Gora, west Serbia, are located amazing narrow gauge railway"Šarganska osmica". These railway is just a little saved part of narrow railroad Sarajevo- Užice. The railroad was of great importance for Balakn in that times. Railroad were operated for cargo and passenger traffic. First train from Užice to Sarajevo started in 1925. and last, 1974. After reconstruction of part Šargan VitasiMokra Gora, in 2003. trains drive again. But only for tourist tours. Today, "Šargan eight" is the most popular tourist railway on Balkan, and one on the most popular narrow gauge railway in Europe.

One more atraction on Mokra Gora is ride on narrow rairoad from Mokra Gora (Serbia) to Višegrad (Bosina and Herzegovina). That means that "Šargan eight" have one more bid. This route is a special route, not for standard use, just for special chartered drives. This route makes "Šargan eight" the only tourist railway in THE MOUNTAINEERS Europe which are located in two different Republics.
How to find Šargan eight? From Serbia, you can come to Mokra Gora, with two different main roads. Both of them is from Užice town. If you want to follow old narrow gauge railroad Užice- Sarajevo route, you can use blue line on map down. Or if you want to see Zlatibor mountain beauty, and railway Belgrade- Bar, follow the red line.
If you want to use buses, you can do that from Užice bus station. There are regular departure every day to Mokra Gora and Višegrad.

Ĺ argan eight route is so good for real railfans, trainspotters and naturefans. You have a chance to find so much different location for goodphotos of trains or some nature looks.
Now, we will go on drive on the same route but with steam locomotive 83-052. This is the only steam locomotive in traffic in Serbia.
Steam locomotive is special bid on Ĺ argan eight too. Steam locomotive is for rent, and drive cost about 1000 eurs.
Some detalis in Mokra Gora, open rail, inside the tunnel, river Kamišna. Water from river Kamišna is so clean, so you can drink it! All this beauty you can experience on Šargan eight.
On many places on Ĺ argan eight you can see many of steam locomotive models, old trains, old wagons, old railway wehicles. There exists a one more railway- "forest railway", but just like a museum subjects.
