TIMBER IN THE CITY

To maintain a healthy living, we as humans must connect with nature frequently. It’s at our roots. All too often, this element has been overlooked in our cities resulting in a less than ideal situation. River Esplanade is a model of healthy, biophilic living that seeks to provide these elements for the residents and community and show how it might be accomplished.

Although Timber as a building material has been used for thousands of years, recent advances in technology allow it to be used in a more sustainable and rigorous way. River Esplanade uses innovative structural and ecological methods to create a modern and healthy example of what is now possible. CLT(CrossLaminated-Timber) is utilized, along with a wood latticework that graces the structure, covering the historic Terracotta office building that still stands on the site, embracing the past, and also welcoming a sustainable and healthy future.
