Where Is Nor There are seven continents in the world. North America is the largest. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean in the east and by PaciďŹ c Ocean in the west. It reaches from the Arctic Cycle in the north to the Panama Canal in the south.

Greenlan d The closer you get to the Arctic Circle, the colder the weather is. In fact, the coldest temperature ever recorded in North America was in 1954 in Greenland at -87 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Rocky Mountains in the west and the Appalachian Mountains in the east are two of the largest mountain ranges in North America. The Mojavi Desert and the Sonoran Desert, located in California and New Mexico get little rain. Only few plants can survive the hot and dry climate, for example the cactus plant.
