Where Is Sou South America is the fourth largest continent. Most of South America is in the Southern Hemisphere. This means that it is mostly below the equator. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean in the east and by the PaciďŹ c Ocean in the west. In the north it is bordered by North America, in the south it stretches close to Antarctica.
