D. M.. L. C. MESSENGER low students will be loyal to the staff and aid them in the duties they have to perform so that we may notice an improvement each time and that our paper may be a pride to our institution. Again we are assembled at old D. M. L. C. to drink with heart's content from the cup of wisdom. On Aug. 31, the doors were opened to admit those who attended last year, and to bid a hearty welcome to the new entrants. Of the latter twenty-five answer to roll call. A number of last year's attendant;: did not return. The number of student.s enlisted is 108. After a vacation of two and a half months, no doubt, we shall finc1 it hard to settle down to our work again. But let us remember that our success dependB upon a good, solid foundation. Let us work hard now, while yet we have strength, and when examination& come, we need not "cram" into our heads what ought to be there. Neglect not your duties now. Don't think, "Oh, well, I can do that tomorrow." There the serpent lieR in hiding. Trample him under foot, exterminate him forever. Then your striving will not be in vain. You will see the results on your report cards, and your work will be crowned with everlasting success. And snd1 may it be to all. teachers :mil RcholarA.

Daily we may hear students complaining about not having enough time fol' 1·ecreation. This is true. But, the very little time there is for thiR purpose is not properly made use of, and most generally we find that those who are conAtantly complaining are the oneii who do not utilize this time properly. For excuse they say: "We have too much to study." Now, this i:" not a valicl excuse. Let us watch these complainants. During stud) time, when they ought to be at work. they go from room to room, stoppini~ to talk to one or more of the boy:, in each ropm. And when their time is up, they are dissatisfied. "\1H! to place the fault any\\·bere but where it properly belong" they say: "The time is too short." Xow, if these boys would go out for u brisk walk in the fresh air. in the appointed time, and settle down to real hard work, when they ought to, I doubt not but that the~· would feel m8re satisfied, not only 11·ith the short time for recre.ation, hut also with themselves and with the world in general.

To tell the truth, we don't like the words "cheap groceries." We much pcefer to deal in the highest qualities obtainable because reduced prices always stand for reduced values . It Is inevitable. Busiriess is so regulated that it cannot be 1tny other way. So we talk high qualities month in and month out. And we sell accorJlngly . And strange as it may seem it is the truest sort of economy to deal here. No waste of materials, cons~ant sab!sfaction, most healthful eatables-those are reasons enough.
