Having completed his studies in elementary edu91tion, he looks forward to a future serving God with his fellow graduates. Secure in his ultimate goal to live a life of faithful service to God.

JON BARTEL,

• Loru MARIE BAVUSO,came to DMLC from Kenosha, WI with the dream of becoming the fitst teacher in her -family. She's a science concentrate who loves cats and the outdoors. At the top of her list of fun things to do, Lori puts reading, writing, and -being with friends.

BEN BERGER - Young Ben came to us his freshman year as a guy who just wanted to learn. He was a quiet lad, speaking a total of 37 words that first year. Ben spent the following years practicing and improving his interpersonal skills with the prep students. When not out displaying his newfound rhetoric and logic abilities, Ben could be found participating in multiple intramural activities, supporting school sports teams in his own quiet, calm, and agreeable manner. Never complaining, he spent much time working diligently on his Hebrew doctorate, but somehow still managed to stick to a rigorous workout schedule, chiseling his body into the form of a Greek god. Since moving to New liJlm Ben has stepped up his interpersonal skills, fmding time to spend with the y,9ung ladies on campus. Ben will pack up his many belongings into his Chevy Sprint and head for the Sem next year. He's still looking for riders.

KIM BEYER is

a native of Algoma, Wisconsin. You could spot Kim working her left-footed magic on the soccer field, working at Lamplighter or devoting her time to the Real World. She hopes to be singled out for the call to Alaska where she hopes to make the camel the state mascot.

BRENT TYLER BIESTERFELD

calls Crete, Illinois home. "Biest" is a Five Year Secondary Education Graduate with a Physical Education Major. He enjoys physical activity of any sort and thrives on athletic competition. Brent hopes to change the misconception many people have about Physical Education. He will be married to Laura Arnold in August, and although he would love a high school call, Brent looks forward to the many teaching years ahead in any classroom .

• a.k.a. Biesty, hails to us from the metropolis of Crete, IL. She comes to us from a family of 12. (which makes up V4 of the population of Crete) Rachel kept herself occupied in college with track, tennis, and porns and she looks forward to receiving a call into the ministry. RACHEL BIESTERFELD -

is a good friend, who currently has plans to attend Bethany in the fall. Jim is the devoted husband of Emily, (Binder of course). He is a great Greek tutor and has "unique" methods of remembering the Aorist Imperative. Some of Jim's favorites are coffee in the "holy" chalice given him by Lance, marshmallow chicks and the future subjunctive. Favorite book series "The Wheel of Time". Favorite actor "Sean Connery". Favorite three letters lse. He will continue his studies to enter the public ministry. EDWIN JAMES BINDER (Jim)

Although KATIE BIVENS was born in San Jose, CA, she has never been baked by its rays. Rather, she has the pale exterior of the average Midwesterner. She grew up (sort-of) hanging from the monkey bars in Saginaw, MI. Three years ago her family of eight packed up the van and headed to Mequon, WI, their new home. A graduate of MLS, Katie came to DMLC with the desire to serve the Lord as a teacher. Her love of adventure led her to the dusty roads of Guadalaja, Mexico and later to house sit and teach VBS in Sofia, Bulgaria. Throughout the years at DMLC, Katie has tackled her homework after her busy days of walking, wading in the river, writing, and eating ice cream. She's always been a bundle of happiness, advice and Christian support to her friends. May the Lord bless Katie as she serves him in his kingdom!

SARAH BoDE - Usually, to find Bode all one has to do is search the bowels of the gymnasium where she will be faithfully laundering the garments of various athletic teams. Sarah became quite the responsible young woman in the span of four years, carefully balancing her time between work, studies, and love. Not satisfied with the men of her own school, Bode moved to the next level and got herself a Seminary man. She is engaged to "Bone" the elder (some say he's old enough to be her dad), and will be married to him in September. Sarah is no slouch in athletics, taking home the doubles tennis championship her freshman year. She spent her Junior year working as an RA, maintaining the family tradition of ruling with an iron fist. Always looking to improve her knowledge, Sarah can often be found consulting Latin and Greek students on meanings to various sayings. Sarah is looking forward to a summer of hard work and marriage in the fall.

is from Bay City, MI. He transferred from Saginaw Valley State during his sophomore year. Although his credits listed him as a freshman, his dedication and hard work has shown through and he is now graduat ing with the class of 1996. His interests include art, music, and sports. Luke's artwork has been seen all around campus during his three years. One cannot start to list everything that he has participated in because he is a very active person. He dreams of the day when he will have his own classroom and is planning on future education. God bless Luke as he starts his long journey as a faithful servant of God.

LUCAS BOEI-IM

1974, three weeks early; this has been regarded by many as being her first mistake. Since then, however, Becky has tried to improve. Since she was a wee lass of 6 she wanted to be a teacher, in order to spread the Word in the most effective way she could. She has come to our college to fulfill that goal, and along the way stretched herself in a wide variety of areas. Becky is an English concentrate, since that is her native tongue. She loves books and is working on building her own library. Currently she has 330 books and is war.king on a childrens library. She has studied in music, learning the piano, organ, trombone, and baritone. In addition, Becky enjoys physical activities, especially volleyball, tennis, swimming, and tae kwondo. She was involved with Jesus Cares School for 4 years. She has directed Reader's Theater (please give her the money for the t-shirts!), and has been the president of the Sign Language Club for two years. She is also the secretary of the Chess Club.

.U

REBECCA BoRREE was born on July 9,

STEPH BRANDS, nee Gorham, became a married woman last summer when she tied the knot with Dan Brands. Not one to spend much time on campus, her every appearance was cherished by her classmates. This amazing woman was able to carry a full load of classes and serve as the breadwinner for her family, moonlighting as hostess at New Ulm Country Club. The consummate athlete, Steph decided to join the intramural ranks and teach those around her the finer points of volleyball. Since she is a big fan of Wall Street she and her husband rented an apartment beneath the commodity brokers of New Ulm. Steph just bought a new car to take her and her husband on that vacation they've worked so hard for. A very friendly lady, Steph will make a fine teacher and anxiously awaits h er call.

came to MLC from Watertown, WI where she attended Northwestern Prep. While here, she was active on the women's soccer team. She looks forward to serving the Lord in whatever way he sees best.

KATIE BRAUN

• A. BRUCE came to MLC from Pigeon, MI after graduating from MLS. Coming from a family of five she is the oldest of three girls. She is a music concentrate and enjoys playing the organ. after graduating from Northland Lutheran High School, Ryan started college at Northwestern. There he played basketball and baseball. He transferred to DMLC in 1993 where he met his wife, Laura Pontow. They were married in September of 1993. After a semester at Bethany Lutheran College, Ryan returned to DMLC in 1994. He participates in baseball. For the past two years, he has been employed by Randall Foods as the assistant to the night manager. Ryan looks forward to relaxing this summer by playing golf and baseball. H is dream call would be to Colorado to teach Kindergarten and Phy. Ed.

RYAN BUCH -

JOHN BYUS "JB" a graduate of MLS, has completed the STEP phy ed program. His interest in sports and playing experience will serve him well as soon as he gets over Title IX. (Or maybe he just enjoyed getting someone's goat in class?)

DAN "D.C.,

Sideshow, S.F. Poncho" COLE left the "Gateway to South Dakota" town of Canby, MN to attend MLPS. He then brought his leaf raking abilities to Northwestern College where he took on larger projects such as wood piles. The duck took flight and "D.C." brought his trench coat, hat collection, and tool belt closer to home for his senior year of college at MLC. With a blow of the conch Dan will load up his 1967 Ford Mustang and after revving his engine in front of Prof. Wendland's house at 2 A.M., he will spend $300 in gas money on his journey to Sem.

BRADY E. COLEMAN

is from a family of five sisters and one brother from Detroit, Michigan. He attended Martin Luther King Jr. - High School, a school containing over 2,000 students. In his freshman year he had aspirations of being an accountant due to his love of math. His vocational interests shifted throughout the next three years moving from police officer to politician to pastor. Brady had a desire to improve the world in which he lived and saw how each successive idea (concluding with minister of the Gospel) could bring him closer to his goal. He ultimately realized that the world and the human race could best be served by spreading the Gospel. In any secular office his best achievements would soon fade. It is God's Word which remains eternal. Brady's interests include piano, classic movies and reading. Key phrase: "Save it!"

MA'IT DENOYER - "Ratt-tat-tui" has made the move from his original college

class due to his hiatus a few years back. The social adapter that he is, Matthew has fit quite comfortably into his new class. Oddly enough the only time that any of his classmates saw him on campus this year was during the third quarter when a new group of student teachers was sent out. Coincidence? We think not. After giving up his playing days of basketball, he joined the coaching staff this year, giving his valuable input at every crucial juncture. To make ends meet, Ratt took on a library job, making a pretty penny through his black market fine service on the side. Always up front and honest Matt was voted "Most likely to be conned." Ratt was also voted "the luckiest man alive". Matt plans to pack up his luck, honesty, and new found Hebrew skills for the Seminary in the fall

GREGORY T. DIERSEN - A farmboy from Winnebago Twp, Houston Cty, MN: "You can take the boy out of the country but you can't take the country out of the boy." An education/Science major. Enjoys hockey and baseball. (Likes the right-wing position; and spends much time in left field). Will be married to DMLC alumnus in June. Interesting fact: only graduate to live in a basement three of last four years.

KATHY "The Runz" DOBRUNZ comes to DMLC/MLC from the small town of Dakota, Mn, where she resides with her family right down the road near the Mobile station that sells the cemetery plots. Her family consists of her mom and dad and six younger siblings (five sisters and one brother - poor guy!). Kathy's years at this fine establishment have been spent fulfilling her call of softball queen in which she has received many awards for her cat-like speed and reflexes. Much of her fun and exciting free time has been spent flinging burgers and taking charge of the chicken station at Hardee's where she has served her customers with a smile. Kathy's outgoing personality make her a fun gal to hang around with, and her ability to laugh at anything helps to put a smile on everybody's face. Those of us who have had the privilege of knowing Kathy know that she will make a wonderful teacher wherever the Lord calls her to teach his little lambs.

MA.TI DOERING - Native to New Ulm, Matt attended MVL (where he still spends a fair amount of time "helping out"). He is very active in football, basketball, and baseball - both participating and coaching. He is an Education and Physical Education major. Matt and his wife, Jill are approaching their first anniversary.

CHRISTOPHER Scorr DOERR hails from Cudahy, WI. He is well'k:nown as "Topher or Toph" and his name is synonymous with creativity. He always looks forward to the hectic, but enjoyable summers at Camp Phillip. Everyone at Camp loves him for his friendliness and sense of humor. Here, he is able to show his gifts in producing skits and writing campfire songs. When he is not reading, singing, instructing at the ropes course, or enjoying the outdoors, you will find him crafting poetry in his 7 unique styles of handwriting. He graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School in 1991 and continued his interest in drama at Wabash College while graduating magna cum laude in 1994 with a B.A. in Theatre. The experiences at Camp influenced his decision to enroll in a 2 year Seminary Certification program at NWC in 1994. At MLC, he was R.A., director of Hello Dolly, participated in the Touring Choir and intramural BB and VB. He will continue next fall in studying for the Pastoral Ministry at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary.

TIM DOLAN - When not travelling world wide competing in diving competitions, Tim can be found perusing at the local corn shop. Having kept his father's nickname, Grubby, ironically he is the most hygienic person one will ever meet. "Grubby" spent the majority of three of his college years fulfilling the duties of Sports Information Director. Chronically agitated, he was voted the busiest man on campus. His failed attempt at obtaining a significant other have at least led to an increased wardrobe. For fun Grubby could often be seen playing the drums or honing his woodwind skills. When the camel clock says that it is time, Grubby will put his cruise control-like steady foot to the pedal of his Sundance and move along to the Seminary.

JEFF "Ducky" "Duke" DUQUAINE started

his college career at UW Green Bay, WI taking general classes for one year. Before being led to prepare for the pastoral ministry, he pursued an ongoing interest in health by studying respiratory therapy at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. Jeff is an exercise fanatic centralizing on weight lifting. He claims the natural aging process makes dates few and far between, yet he always seems to be surrounded by women. Maybe it's that fresh and clean Palmolive scent. More likely it is the fact that he is incredibly easy to talk to and is always willing to give advice to a friend. Jeff intends to work (and play) at home this summer be(ore going to the Seminary in the fall.

Cmus ESMAY has been seen roaming the sidelines during the fall for the last 3

years harassing, antagonizing, and creating a endless heartache for the officials and opposing teams as a Rag/Knob. The only British American Canadian enrolled in school, he brings a multicultural flavor to this campus. An avid farmer, "Ruggs" spends his spare time in the fields or at Blimpie's. He has purchased a large number of shares in Eli Lilly Co. and is personally making sure that this pharmaceutical company's stock value rises. His favorite foods include Broccoli and strawberries with Brach's candy for dessert. Chris also enjoys splashing around in puddles on a rainy day. No slouch in academics, Chris has been known to usher in plenty of sunrises while studying to maintain a 4.0 grade point average through his college days. As of this writing "Brutal" is undecided as to whether he will head to Mequon or take a year off at UWMilwaukee.

comes to us from a farm in Baroda, Michigan is a graduate of Michigan Lutheran High School. Bert "I have no other moniker by which I'm known" is easily labeled as an over-achiever by his friends (and enemies?). Perhaps his greatest achievement, however, is finding someone who will marry him. While in college Bert got a real kick out of soccer and late-night parking duties. After being in college for five years, he's finally ready to graduate, After his marriage to Beth Schaefer on what will be a beautiful day in June, he will eagerl(Y anticipate the beginning of his career as a teacher.

BERT FALAK,

TRISHA KAY FEDER was

born July 19, 1974. She is the only child of Lawrence and Barbara Feder. Trisha is a very kind, happy, and outgoing person. She is always willing to listen to or help out a friend and always has plenty of hugs and smiles to go around. Trisha has always loved children and looks forward to the day when she will have her own classroom and someday a family and children of her own.

ANDREW "The Club" FIX has finally arrived as a graduating senior after travelling a road pocked with construction. Not much of a road repairman, Fix took the detours but finally found his way back to the main road. Appropriately dubbed "grandpa" by his classmates, Fix prides himself on the traditions of his age - storytelling and napping. After a brief stint with the PGA, Andy decided that his true calling with the game he loves is to reshaft clubs for other golf enthusiasts. He also bypassed this year's NBA draft claiming that, "Jordan wouldn't appreciate playing second fiddle." Fix could always be counted on to provide a classic quote on any number of subjects. When not expounding on the truths of life, Fix spent time on the phone nurturing his relationship with certain inhabitants of Burlington. Fix will join the ranks of the Seminary next year, relieved that he will again be in the midst of men who can recall at least some of the events of his childhood in the late sixty's.

RENEE FLUEGGE hails

from Lannon, WI. She is the youngest of four children. Renee spent her high school years playing volleyball and basketball at Northwestern Prep. Her college years led to a switch onto the soccer field. Now you can usually find Renee at the Fitness Center or hanging out with her friends in town.

hails from The Gateway to the Kettle Moraine Forest, Kewaskum, WI. With this great city as his stepping stone into life, all who know him see a bright, promising, blessed future ahead. E. John's zest for life is immediately recognizable when one sees him doing what he loves best anything outdoors. Be it rock hunting, stargazing, trying to get struck by lightning, or just trompin' through the DNR grounds for the fun of it, E. John's enjoyment of God's wonderful creation is a witness of his faith, a witness which will serve well in encouraging and motivating his future students in their own desire to learn. [After Mr. Fredrich receives his call to St. Paul's, New Ulm, and after 10 years his 2nd to MVL, he will finish his teaching career here at MLC ... seeing how the bond which has been forged between E. John and New Ulm is of such a kind that it will never be broken.]

EDWIN (E.) JOHN FREDRICH

STEVE GABB, affectionately known as "Bucky", "Billy," or "Richard," is a classic personality. A big fan of grassy fields, Buck became the latest poster boy for Montclair. His favorite video game is Pac Man. When asked to explain his choice of video games, he simply responds, "Well I just like chomping all those power pellets." Bucky enjoyed his study of foreign language and was able to pick up the many guttural pronunciations of the Hebrew language with uncanny ease. Buck could often be found playing his favorite board games Tiddlywinks and Twister. Stricken with morning deafness, Buck volunteered to set his alarm clock to wake up his entire dorm for class. After a long hard road of deliberation, contemplation, and moderation, Buck has decided to pack his bags and alarm clock and move on to Seminary. Good luck Buck!

SARAH GEIGER was born and raised in Belmont, California. She attended high school at California Lutheran and graduated second in her class. She was then led to DMLC to pursue the teaching ministry where her desire to share God's Word with children was fostered. She enjoys playing organ, piano, and spending ti.me outdoors. MICHAEL "Nobody remembers my first name anyway" GoRTE, a cheesehead from birth, grew up on a dairy farm outside of Manitowoc, WI. After four years of being a Lancer at Manitowoc Lutheran, Gordy arrived on the Northwestern campus and became a Trojan. He also managed to play a little soccer, and even went out for track for one year. Mike will graduate in May with a Bachelor-of-Arts and a doctorate in Nintendo. JAMES GRABITSKE

(NOT Kimberly) GREEN is a native of Mountain Lake, MN and an alumnus of MLPS. While at DMLC / MLC this musically inclined individual was involved in handbells, band and spent three years watching Prof. Hermanson's baton in college choir. While most of us were working on our tans, Kim spent her summers working at Camp Philip. During the college years Dan has been on the tennis team and has lead several successful waterfall hunt expeditions. Dan is looking forward to starting his future in the ministry as a teacher.

DANIEL GRUNEWALD

SARAH GRUNKE, known to her friends as Funky has long dreamed of becoming a teacher. She grew up in Fairfax, Minnesota, and still calls it her home. Funky's smile and sense of humor have brightened many a rainy day. In her free time, she works at the Country Club, which is more of a necessity than a pastime. Sarah loves the outdoors and spending time with children. She looks forward to serving her Lord teaching the little lambs in the primary grades.

R0NALD J. GUSMI\N comes to MLC,

having been born and raised in North Hollywood, California. He graduated from California Lutheran High School when the Lord led him to Northwestern and MLC. He is a five year pastor track student. With his mind set on becoming a pastor, he will be attending the Seminary this fall. His friendliness, dependability, sense of humor and companionship are just some of the great things that make up Ronnie. Ronnie's life is set on serving his Lord. He hopes to be an example to his own congregation someday to lead others into the ministry.

Jon came to us from MLPS weighing in at a buck-0-five, but took advantage of three square meals a day from the cafeteria and is Iisted at 112 and one half pounds in the graduation program. His small stature can perhaps be attributed to his vegetarian diet since he is limited to the types of meat he can eat. Often mistaken for Andre Agassi, Jon spends many, many hours smacking tennis balls and signing autographs. The class has voted Jon the man most likely to be an institutional minister. Jon has thoroughly taken advantage of the move to MLC as it gave him the opportunity to catch up on some Disney films, glean the fields of New Ulm, and find himself a Moa bitess. With his cloak tucked up under his belt, his sandals on his feet, and his staff in his hand, Jon is ready to move on to the Seminary.

JON HACKBARTH -

DANIEi!. HAHM is graduating as a 5th year STEP student. His home right now is in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Dan loves to ski the mountains around his home as well as cliff jumping in the summer. "Hello, is this New Ulm Telecom? This is SARAH JEAN HARTWIG. I was wondering if you could tell me how to splice my phone line ... Oh, that's illegal. I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of that. Thank you. Good Bye." From this day forth she shall be called "Goober" for only a goober would spend hours preparing her dress for the first day of college. While living on the Hidden Valley Ranch in Maribel, Wisconsin with Eugene, Joan, Rachel, Matthew, Aaron, Daniel, and Smoochy, Miss Hartwig needed to expand her horizons. So after graduating from Manitowoc Lutheran High School, she packed her sweaters and headed to the metropolis of New Ulm, Minnesota. Little did she know her future would include lots of friends, fond memories, and a Metro. Those who are closest to Goober can say that her sense of humor and her ability to work well with people will be a blessing to all who get to know her after MLC.

JESSICA HEIN is known as a vibrant and active person. Not one to sit still, Jess has kept active in volleyball, many intramurals and waitressing. She has enjoyed making lifelong friends that she can lean on, as she serves her Lord in the teaching ministry.

HEIDI HELLWIG went through many moves in her life before settling in Madison, WI with pastor father, mother, two little brothers, and little sister. She crone to DMLC to fulfill her drerun of becoming a teacher. While pursuing the final goal, she plays an active role in college choir, softball, and intramurals. With a strong will and loving patience, Heidi rules and cares for the occupants of Augustana's second floor. During her few free moments Heidi enjoys playing the piano. Her fiance, Steve Daley (husband as of July 6, 1996) will enjoy her many talents and sweet personality while enjoying married life together in Milwaukee as he finishes his remaining three years at the Seminary.

SHAWN HERKSTROETER, who graduated from Nebraska Lutheran High School, believes himself to be a pro at dorm life. He has lived the past 8 years of his life far away from his home in beautiful Loveland, Colorado. He won't hesitate to say that there is no better place to live, and no quarterback exists besides John Elway. While at MLC Shawn participated in basketball for three years. If you couldn't find him on the basketball court, he was probably downtown selling shoes to the people of New Ulm at Tradehome Shoes. Shawn hopes to teach in Minnesota so he can learn more about coping with the frigid winter temperatures, or in Wisconsin, where he can learn to love the Packers and the humidity. Also on Shawn's agenda for his summer is his wedding to Amy Nell on June 21 (in Wisconsin).

MICHEit.LE HORN was born exactly ten years and one day following the

assassination of John F. Kennedy. Michelle began her life in Sheboygan County, WI (roughly 1100 miles from the site of this historical tragedy) with he!' parents Ron and <Clare Horn. She was the first of the three Horn children to graduate from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac. Her dream of becoming a teacher and her desire to attend college in a far-away, remote location brought her to New Ulm, MN. It was here she met her (D)MLC sweetheart Neil Schliewe, whom she will marry on June 8, 1996. Michelle's warmth, kindness, and continuous smiles and laughter has made her a joy to know and a privilege to call a friend. May her future students realize what a blessing they have received with Mrs. Schliewe as their teacher.

t "Cori" HUMANN may be too small to give blood, but she definitely does not lack character. Her huge heart prompted her to send encouraging letters (always with stickers) to fellow student teachers. Her brain fairly bursts with information stored in her amazing memory. Besides being an avid reader, she has enjoyed four years in College Choir. Has the alliteration in this profile caught your attention? As a STEP English student, Cori will catch it - unless she is too busy procrastinating to read this.

CORINNE

Titoy "T-~oy" JACOBS calls Milwaukee, WI home. He forsook his life-long dream of: Chief Peanut Vendor at County Stadium and fled to MLPS and Northwestern College with the recipe for the secret stadium sauce. When not watching "Bill Nuy, Science Guy" T-roy could be found asleep in the shower early in the morning. Next year will find Troy packing up his bathroom reading l'i brary and heading to Sem.

JASON KAPANKE was born in Esteline, South Dakota. He lived the first twelve years of his life on a farm. In 1983, his family moved to LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He enrolled at Mount Calvary Lutheran School for his final two years of elementary school. Onalaska Luther High School was the next step in his education. It was there that an interest for becoming a teacher originated. Also, he found a love for hunting, fishing, and all athletics, especially basketball and baseball. After high school, he served in the United States Army for three years. During that time, he was deployed as part of Operation Desert Storm. After the army, the Lord led him to enroll in DMLC and meet his wife Lorna Kutz. Jason is currently living in Sleepy Eye, MN while his wife teaches fourth and fifth grade at St. Johns.

This bubbly, bouncy gal from Waterloo, Wisconsin is MICHELLE KEGLER (alias, Kegs). You may have seen her play powder puff or intramural volleyball. Don't knock her for her shortness. She can get pretty fierce! Don't leave her. She'll jump on your back and hang on! Be kind to her, and she will be the sweetest and friendliest person you've ever met! And, boy, can she crochet! (I'm not supposed to tell anyone, but she's beginning to enjoy reading - kiddy lit. books, that is.) With chocolate eyes, chocolate hair, and chocolate cravings, this girl is the frosting on the cake!

DEB KELLER - a .k.a. piano woman, has participated in every possible musical activity as well as Porns, cheerleading, softball, and rock collecting. She has also been involved in some delicate international relations work with a rep. of the Yugoslavian committee for promoting a miracle relation thru basketball. Deb is looking forward to receiving a call in the teaching ministry.

JACOB KLINGBEIL came to MLC after graduating from MLPS. While at MLC he was a cheerleader his freshman year and played football as a sophomore and junior. Jacob was often heard saying "Car problems.n He plans on furthering his education with plans of becoming an engineer.

keeps most of her beloved family in West Allis, WI. She graduated in 1992 from an active four years at Michigan Lutheran Seminary. She is very playful and often insouciant, while pursuing persistently that which is wonderful to her. Filling piano practice rooms with ragtime, warm weather and frolicking in it, the movie "The Sound of Music," Life cereal, sharing songs from summer camp, and her first (and only) nephew - these are a few of her favorite things. Except for bowling, Carrie has played most every intramural sport she could, and she glories in her badminton achievements. Her hopes for the future include a few years of being an effective grade school teacher and then somehow to serve the Lord in a foreign country.

has a habit of closing down every school she has ever attended; grade school, high school and college. Kinda makes you wonder about this woman known as Koh. She finds studying intriguing, but running and exercising is more her kind of fun. Waitressing at the Kaiserhoff Restaurant filled many of her weekends and nights, but she always found time for her friends. After attending a public college for one year, she decided that physical therapy was not her calling. Kob's patience and love of children will be an asset as she serves her Lord in the teaching ministry.

HEATHER KoBLESKE

ft DEBORAH KOCH is a native of Fond du Lac, WI. She will graduate as a history concentrate. Deb always wanted to be a teacher, and looks forward to her first call. Leadership and service to others is nothing new to this hard working senior. She's been a dedicated AVCO member and a leader of Meet Math throughout her years at MLC. She served as an RA this past year. She also spent four years in handbells, which she loves! If Deb's future congregation doesn't have handbells, they soon will! Deb is energetic, fun-loving, friendly, and responsible. She will definitely be a blessing to any congregation where God places her.

will always be remembered by classmates as a big-hearted ambassador of goodwill from Michigan. He made it his personal duty to continually try to convince the humble Wisconsin sports fans that his Michigan teams were annually inferior in character and ability to those in Wisconsin. Dave is a man who has been involved in more serious relationships than most of his classmates. Dave has realized his leadership skills and has put them to good use as Student Body President. Constantly seeking to calm the every fear and concern of the common student, "the Prez" has run a tight, student-. oriented ship. With all the responsibility and work that is upon his shoulders, he has left us all wondering how he made time to become such a successful ~ocial butterfly and sega guru. We'll see Dave at Mequon next year at WLS.

"Let's chat!'' All friends of CINDY KOM are familiar with this phrase. With it, she manages to 'catch-up' on everyone's lives in her caring way. Born and raised in South Dakota, she has developed a flair for jitterbug and country line dancing (as we ll as a desire to travel). Cindy is one-half of a set of fraternal twins, but ma ny a re stunned upon meeting her sister, thinking they are seeing double. Full of energy and enthusiasm, Cindy can't wait to use her many academic, athletic and musical abilities to teach God's little lambs.

the big personality from small-town Michigan, spent years at her grandfather's knee listening to stories about her Great-uncle Herman, a soldier in the old country. So, after graduating from Huron Valley High School in 1992, she made the pilgrimage to New Ulm, and has been on the hill ever since. She was a social butterfly at DMLC, and she "danced" her way into the hearts of many, especially Aaron Weber, a senior SPaM student, whom she will marry on June 21, 1997. Jen Kowske is looking forward to teaching God's little lambs.

JENNIFER KOWSKE,

is a "super-groovy" student from New London, WI. Over the past years, she served on Student Senate as a representative for her class. She is well-known for her helping hand, smiling face, and great ideas. Jen is a valuable member of the tennis team and also has a special place in her heart for the Green Bay Packers. In her last year at college, Jen has been decidedly distracted by the large number of new men on campus, yet she remains focused on her goal of teaching.

JEN KRAUSE

JULIE -rhe Minesweeper" KREBs began her life in West Allis, Wisconsin -

home of Olympic Gold Medalist Dan Jansen. Her parents, Carol and Otis Krebs have many reasons to be proud of their second and youngest daughter who shares her birthday with the King of Rock and Roll. Julie, a child prodigy, graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School at the age of twelve, went directly on to the Ivy League, and now holds a Ph.D. in Astro-physics from Harvard University. Bored with the trend of the technological world, Julie decided to try her hand at teaching. (And I think she finally found her niche in life.) Julie's laughter and her ability to make others laugh has made her a joy to get to know and a privilege to have as a friend. And anyone who is lucky enough to have her as a teacher can consider themselves doubly blessed.

JENNIFER KRUEGER was raised in Winona, MN

and is a loyal Minnesotan. She is an English concentrate and loves to write. This is shown by her involvement in the Messenger for three years. She is a creative writer as well as a creative person. Her friends find her unique since her personality matches her red hair. She loves music which is shown in her piano playing. She also plays the organ but stays away from choirs since she thinks she can't sing. She was also involved in the Spanish Club and as a result tutored Spanish children for a few years in Sleepy Eye. PAUL "Learjet, Cy Young" LEARMAN calls the gangsta's tropical paradise of Houston, Texas home. Although Paul was an aspiring bronc buster, he attended Northwestern Prep and Northwestern College. Paul continued into the frozen tundra of New Ulm for his final year and was a familiar sight around campus in his 43 layers of clothing and 2 winter coats. In his spare time Paul tries to avoid daylight and has been known to play a little baseball. "Jet" will pack up his Buxtehude books and hit the trail for greener pastures at Sem in the fall.

Our special friend HEIDI JILL LEMKE made the long journey from Lakewood, Washington, for four years and is finally ready to possess the world-renowned title of MLC graduate. Her spare time is rapidly filled with being introverted, pulling fried chipmunks out of car engines, and listening to country music. Heidi is excited to begin teaching primary grades next year, preferably in Wahoo, Nebraska. Beyond needing speech therapy to correct her Western accent, Heidi's pride and joy is Minnesota winters and waitressing at Country Kitchen/The Dougout, where her sunny smile and cheerful disposition make her a favorite with the regulars.

KATlfilYN LINDNER, a proud citizen of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin was a 1992 graduate of Northwestern Prep. While in college, Kathy participated in many "normal" college activities such as Porns and writing for Knight's Page. In addition, Kathy's extracurricular activities include headboard hurdling and lawnmower stunts. In addition to the wealth of knowledge she has gained here, Kathy's goal has been to expand her vocabulary. She will continue in this endeavor until her marriage to Steven W. Neyhart on August 11, 1996. At this time she also hopes to understand the origin of Steve's nickname. Until then, she eagerly awaits the vicar assignment of her future husband and also hopes to receive a teaching assignment in that area.

After graduating from Manitowoc Lutheran High School, KELLY Jo LoBERGER went on to attend UW Center Manitowoc for 2 years. Then Kelly made the long journey to New Ulm. a long time interest in sports. An all-around athlete in high school, Scott looks forward to giving back to a high school as phy ed teacher and/or coach.

JASON "Lockdog" LocKHART comes to

us from the surfing town of Meadow Vista, CA. He left there to attend MLPS and Northwestern College. Jay joined the ranks of nightshift Bethesda workers, which led to a healthy lifestyle consisting of "ropes," industrial strength coffee, and the abstention from daylight. While in college "Lockdog's" extracurricular involvement pinnacled as baseball manager freshman year and he has also been a dominating intramural force. Jay walked to MLC (and everywhere else) for his senior year. Jason will attend Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in the fall.

J:ASON MWERY has

been a thrill to have on campus the past four years. This y;ear he lives off campus with his wife, Rachel and their new baby girl. JIU. MEYER

STEPHEN MEYER-Natural Man. Bill Moyers. Billy Brew. Moose. Yak. Brewski. Nixie. Oscar. Dolph. Bull. The man with the ever-progressing nickname. Uncommonly punctual, Steve often got upset when his friends kept him waiting for various social occasions. However he spent four years shooting the lights out for the basketball team and pleasing his coach with his all-out hustle. Steve was quite the outgoing individual in college and really enjoyed leading roundtable discussions on any topic which was hot at the time. When not speaking profusely, Steve worked hard to master his wild life calls which now include the lizard and ostrich. Stephen is presently unattached, but he can be found next year at the Seminary by any female who is interested.

Hailing from Fond du Lac, WI, DAVID "Skim MIELKE is a '92 graduate of WLA. Dave's involvement in campus life over the past 4 years has made him a popular if not notorious face around school. His light-hearted and good-natured disposition complements well his serious and focused drive. God's grace certainly has been evident in David's life, may it always continue so. K

"Ditch, Whor MILLER, comes to MLC from Bay City, Michigan. He transferred to Northwestern in the second semester of his Freshman year. Rich was a wrestler for all four years in college, and was team MVP his senior year. Rich is known by all who know him for his spontaneity and his terrible study habits. He will be heading to Mequon in the fall.

RICHARD

TERRI MILLER began her dreams of becoming a teacher in Waupaca, WI, where she grew up with an older brother and a younger sister and brother. Her younger days were spent mischievously in a Lutheran grade school. Despite the trouble she gave teachers as a youngster, she was inspired to teach in Lutheran schools while attending a public high school. She has realized how valuable a Christian education is. As is evident in her various jobs, Terri loves working with all kinds of people: including children, elderly people, and physical and mentally challenged individuals. Her great concern and care for others makes her a wonderful friend and future teacher. Terri's smiley, outgoing personality w.ill be a great asset wherever the Lord sends her to do His work.

CAREY MUENKEL of Milwaukee, WI has a contagious laugh. If you're really lucky you can get her to laugh until she snorts, a habit which she pulls off with distinct charm. Carey is straightforward, honest, and quick to forgive (a habit which I'm banking on, after that snorting comment.) Carey couldn't have been more appropriately named, because above all, she Cares. She is dedicated to her work, her friends, and to those in need. She will be a blessing wherever she is called to proclaim her faith.

SCO'IT A. MUSKE, Scotty, The Bearded one bearing a B.A. in Biology from Michigan State, avid sportsman likes to hunt and fish, carries his boat with him at all times, devoted husband, 5 o'clock shadow at 9:30 in the -morning, covered with more hair than any animal he has ever skinned, has a gal from Kalamazoo pretty and petite, both are proud to claim their heritage from the East Frankish Realm, he has an 8 foot bed that never has to be made, but above all he is the most trusted friend you could have, his love for people and his gift of gab will aid him in serving God in the public ministry. Scotty will be heading off to the Seminary in the fall.

AMY NELL comes to MLC from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She is a 1992 graduate of Winnebago Lutheran Academy. She will graduate-from MLC having completed the Elementary Education program with an English concentrate. While at MLC, Amy has spent a great deal of time with her friends and she used the rest of her spare time lifeguarding at Vogel Arena in New Ulm. Amy is engaged to be married to Shawn Herkstroeter on June 21, 1996. She is eager to get married and use what she has learned here at MLC to help her in tlie teaching ministry.

(a.k.a. "Tweety") came to DMLC prepared and is on her way out with big plans for the future. She has brought many experiences from working (each summer since age 14) at the library in her hometown of Hortonville, WI. Leading an often stressful life here, Robin holds to the theme, "Women need chocolate!" That must be where she gets the energy for a longstanding cross-country career. When she's not running, Robin likes to listen to the radio, watch movies, read, walk and roller skate. Of course, she also finds time for her significant other, Chris Noyes (previously in the NayY and recently confirmed). Robin hopes to be engaged soon, nevertheless, is earnestly devoted to teaching a while before settling down. RoBIN DEANNA NELSON

RACHEL ANN 0RVOLD came to DMLC/MLC from the ever populated town of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin where she has spent many of her exciting days packaging meat at Redi-Serve Foods. Finding this job somewhat unfulfilling she packed up her vintage Chevy Impala and ventured to the great state of Minnesota because of it's beautiful weather and also because it is the location of this great college of knowledge which helps to prepare students for the teaching ministry. She knew not what Jay ahead including her ever famous slide onto the campus lawn after tripping over thin air. Besides many more of these little incidents Rachel has been a true joy to know. Her warm and kind personality make her easy to get to know and her ability to make you laugh make her a pleasure to be with not to mention the Dairy Queen discounts she gave to her friends and the free rides in the "Steel Tank." Don't miss the chance for a free ride in the limo of all limousines - the Impala - at Rachel's wedding this summer to a Mr. Bradley Fregien. She will truly be appreciated by her students and the congregation that calls her. Her spirit will forever live on in this great community of New Ulm and on this most beloved campus which we call home - MLC.

JIM OIT, a 1991 graduate of Michigan Lutheran High School has completed his fifty year of study, earning a degree in elementary and secondary education. Jim graced the school's athletic fields during the football and baseball seasons for four years and has developed a particular attachment to the number 22. Speaking of numbers, this math-head has apparently learned to budget his money. Making payments on his new truck and paying off an engagement ring will keep his subraction skills sharp. As far as additions go, Jim will gain a most valuable asset this summer when he will marry Susie Nolte, a 1995 graduate of DMLC.

MARY IRENE Orm comes to us from Ulysses, Nebraska, and is a graduate of Nebraska Lutheran High School. She was born and raised on a farm and will always be a farm girl at heart. This Cornhusker fan enjoys reading, crocheting and talking on the phone. Mary will be spending the summer as a bridesmaid for three weddings and preparing to teach Christ's lambs.

·SCO'rl' E. PEARsoN started out in Hanover, MN, where undoubtedly he learned

some of his sense of humor from the sheriff on "The Andy Griffith Show." As he attended West Lutheran High School he worked hard at his academics, a habit manifest in him still today. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Southwest State University, worked briefly in a laboratory, and this May Scott graduates in the two-year Seminary Certification Program. Claiming to hanker for any kind of activity that makes you sweat, Scott's first like is cycling. He freely admits to being a Bean-Counter, "You can always go on a date and not have to spend a lot of money." This frugality in romance, along with his love for the Scripture, will serve Scott well as he continues on into the Seminary next fall.

"Pech, WeeWally" PECHMAN came to us from Oshkosh, WI. He attended Winnebago Lutheran Academy and upon graduation hurdled his way to Northwestern. After hauling several thousand pounds of furniture and Trojan memorabilia to New Ulm, Brian immediately set out to convince the campus to adopt a celibate lifestyle like his own. Despite his love for the New Ulm area and his passion for study, the Pechman convoy will plug in the fuzz-buster and wind its slow way down 1-90 to Sem in the fall.

RUTH POTIHAST has

·•

been known by many names - Ruthie, Miss Potthast, Potts, Weedy, etc. Yet no matter how many names she has, there's only one Ruth. Fun-loving, she's always bringing a fresh outlook into her classes, malcing her an asset to the 5-year English program. She also loves to watch and play sports, and played intercollegiate basketball for one season. Her innovative teaching techniques - especially using whole language methods - will make any school she teaches at lucky to have Miss Potthast on staff.

DEBBm QUANDT - an MLS graduate, has spent her time at DMLC/MLC in

cheerleading, tennis, musical, Student Senate and bloodmobile nurturing her pet fish Jamal. She's also an excellent bunge jumper due to her amazing lung capacity. She looks forward to receiving a call into the teaching ministry.

'DANI RAISER is a native of Watertown, WI. After graduating from

Northwestern Prep School, she decided to go into the teaching ministry, majoring in Science. During her 5 year stay here in New Ulm, she has participated in many dramatic productions including: musicals, Readers' Theater, and Children's Theatre. Dani is looking forward to graduation and excited at the prospect of where she may teach next year.

DAVE "Rocks, Roy" RAu began his college career at Northwestern College after

leaving his home of Neenah upon graduation from Fox Valley Lutheran. During college Dave enjoyed playing every kind of sport and even managed to squeeze in a little fly fishing when time permitted. After managing to survive a year as editor of the school publication, Dave will take his "total package" to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in the fall.

DAN "Rowdy, Toaster" RAUTENBERG came to Northwestern College after attending Winnebago Lutheran Academy. There he graced the final Trojan footoall team as a starter on the offensive line despite the lag bolts in his knee. "Raut•s• other abilities saw him in the Male Touring Choir, musicals, and magnetic striping the entire NWC library. This caretaker of the "Yes Man" and bearer ofi the unstoppable smile brought himself to MLC for his final college year where his abominable snowman silhouette could be spotted on security patrol. Dan will continue on the road to the pastoral ministry next year at the Seminary.

AARON T. RoBINSON joined us from Milwaukee. A fit and trim freshman, Aaron has spent the last four years trying to convince us in words and actions that the greatest theologians had pendulous abdomens. His sports career, though a distant memory, was a remarkable one. He led his teams on the gridiron and the hardwood. Although he often mistook the hardwood for the gridiron, Robbie proved that he had an amazing amount of natural strength and a very small amount of accuracy. Robbie's favorite hobby is watching the tube, and he has seen every movie known to man, and probably some that aren't. Robinson will never be accused of being unmotivated and plans to take his fun-loving personality, ambition, and high metabolism to Mequon next year.

JULIE Russ - In 1991, a girl from Emporia, Kansas blew into New Ulm with a pair of ruby slippers and a wish to go back home. Little did she know that fourand-a-half years later she'd be married and planning to spend several more years in New Ulm. Julie is graduating in the little-known church music program and has been a very active member of the College Choir during the last four years. She hopes to receive a call in the New Ulm area.

KRISTIN BETH "Please-Don't-Call-Me-Kris" RUTSCHOW graces the MLC campus family from her hometown of Downers Grove, IL (near Chicago). She arrived typically late in our college careers, after graduating from Bethany, but has been an unforgettable addition to many (well, ok, one or two) people's lives. This NPS alumni prides herself in her ability to listen to seven conversations at once and to wander about at all hours of the night, seemingly endless in her quest for social fulfillment and never needing sleep. Kristin plans to wed Erik Nelson, her high school sweetheart, on June 22, 1996, at which date they1l earn money for World Vision by conducting a 30 hour fast. She hopes to receive a call as far from Dan Schulz as possible, since she nurses a deep-seated grudge against him for enticing her into sledding down Vogel first in a swimming pool and then on her face. Next time you see Kristin, ask her how her hand is healing from her encounter with the $ado-Masochistic (Man-Eating) Tree.

LYNNETrE SMTKAMP, hailing from Palm Harbor, FL, is commonly known (in her own mind, anyway) as Mrs. Stahmann and has blessed us with her wise advice ("Kathy, don't hurt yourself') and smiling face for four wonderful years. Nettie's college hobbies include Josh, trips to Northwestern, phone calls to Josh, writing to Josh, and peeling Josh away from his second-best friend, the computer. Many loyal friends and neighbors hope to make the weary trek to Florida this summer to witness the wedding of Lynnette and Joshua Everett Stahmann, where all our hopes and dreams for them will be fulfilled. Lynnette, a 1992 MLPS graduate, maintains her own unique identity by participating in College Choir and teaching gymnastics at Turner Hall, and she hopes to receive a call in the Mequon area next year.

is a former G-man, he hates coffee and loves lce-T. He looks ~ forward to the day he can be called a foreign minister. He is a devoted husband ~1 and a father. We could write silly-funny things about him if he were here more, but Jeff is eternally flying by the seat of his pants, and only survives in class by the grace of God, since he is always called on for the one verse he translated, and is gifted at digging at the odd times he's called on for something he did not look at. His hobbies consist of writing James' spanish presentations in his spare time. Jeff has a very sharp and distinguishing mind, he has been a joy to argue with and learn from, and will be an asset to the synod in his service t o his Lord.

JEFF SAMELSON

BETH SCHAEFER comes to MLC from Kewaskum, WI. She is a 1992 graduate of

Winnebago Lutheran Academy and chose science as her concentrate while attending MLC. College life has definitely brought out the best in Beth. She kept us all at the edge of our seats while on the basketball and volleyball courts. Various awards and all-conference honors proved her dedication to the Ml£ athletic program. If you couldn't find her on the courts, you could find her studying diligently in the library. In her "spare" time she developed a "special" friendship with Bert Falak which resulted in a wedding date set for June 15. Wherever God leads Beth and Bert and whatever he has planned for her, no doubt she will carry it out to the best of her God-given abilities.

11 is a second-career student in the Pastoral Track, who graduated from Watertown Public High School in 1984. In his years prior to attending Northwestern College in Watertown (where enrolled at the tender age of 26!) Dan enjoyed a career in retail management. He enjoys working for his home congregation of St. Mark's in Watertown whenever he gets the chance. Some of his other interests are the study of world history, music, and spending time with friends and family. Dan will be attending our seminary in Mequon, WI next semester and looks forward to one day serving the Lord as a pastor in the WELS.

DAN SCHARP

It's kind of funny that the guy we know as ALLEN "Tank," "Big Al," S€1D..E1'1SENER, was dubbed with the nickname "Apples" while attending grade

school. The other kids called him this because no matter when his mother prepared him for lunch, she would always include an apple. Allen Schleusener was born and reared in Tomah, Wisconsin. His interests include basketball, volleyball, reading, and sketching. After graduating from Tomah Sr. High, Allen attended and graduated from U.W. Stout with a degree in cooking.-Al nopes that one day he will have the opportunity to travel overseas and preach the gospel to those without a Savior. Key phrase: Though we wait in silence, we IU"e filled with words.

NEIL SCHLIEWE is a native of Watertown, WI and a 1992 graduate of Northwestern Preparatory School. He will graduate from MLC with a Bachelors of Science degree in elementary education with an English concentrate. Neil has enjoyed being a part of the College Choir and the men's tennis team during all four of his years on this campus. During the summer Neil has had many opportunities to work with children outside of the classroom including work as a playground supervisor and activities director, flag-football coach and official. These rewarding experiences will be of service to him during his service as a teacher. Neil plans to marry Michelle Horn on the popular date of June 8, three weeks after graduation.

JASON SCHMIDT is an outgoing, fun-loving, busy man who makes his home in New Ulm. He spent most of his life in Watertown, WI where he attended Northwestern Prep. Jason's college career has seen many highlight. He excelled in football as a receiver. Jay also played baseball and participated in various intramura ls. He was also active in band and drama. Jason helped keep the campus safe by serving as head of campus security. Upon graduation from the education program, Jason will enroll at MLC in the Seminary Certification program.

NICOLE SCHMIDT grew up in Oklahoma and then moved to Norfolk ("Norfork"), Nebraska. She attended Martin Luther Prep School and then followed in her mother and two older sister's footsteps to MLC (then DMLC). Nicki's concentrate is in history and some might even say in soccer. She helped to organize the first women's soccer club and as a Senior played on the first women's soccer team. She juggles her time between stressing over tests, teaching swimming lessons, reffing volleyball, and working at H.I. If you think about it, she must be pretty rich, eh? Well, her and her fiance, Ryan Hill, are saving up for the big day in July!

PETER SCHMIDT was born at a very young age. Since then, he has had a number of near-death experiences, including falling out of a moving car on the highway, downing an entire bottle of Flintstone's Vitamins, being nearly kidnapped that same night at the hospital after getting his stomach pumped, and almost being incinerated in a car along with his roommate Stern. Peter recommends "The Sound of Music," "Rear Window," "Evil Dead II," or "Ghost Dad" as movie rentals. His favorite word is Flapjacks, and he thinks that Whitney Houston is vile in the extreme. Peter recently got contact lenses, and now he thinks that everyone should wear them, whether they need them or not. His greatest fear is to find himself some morning transformed into Lionel Richie. Peter will be heading onto Mequon this fall.

Mnm SCHROEDER - Everybody is certainly thankful t hat Mike has been around for the past four years. He has made it his personal duty to squelch any rumor that attempts to make its beginnings on his watch. He entertained his classmates time and time again for literally hours at a time with his innate storytelling ability. Always self-sacrificing, Michael put his car into the ditch or into the deep mud so that he might acquire the skills which would be necessary to help others someday who found themselves in the same predicament. The most versatile football player in the class, Mike played everything from tight end to offens ive guard. His motto was, "Coach, just put me in wherever I can hurt us least." Mike spent the majority of his time in the weight room, locked in a never-ceasing struggle with gravity, which tried to no avail to suck his massive chest down into his svelt belly. This abfiex posterboy has enjoyed his year in New Ulm spending more time than anyone thought humanly possible with his significant other . In the fall Mike plans to follow in the family footsteps and attend the Seminary.

spent much time on the MLC campus smiling and playing soccer. Though her hope of finding a significant other here, Deb studied hard and looks forward to serving the Lord wherever he calls her.

DEB SCHULTZ

I LAURA JEAN SCIDJLZ (with no "t" in Schulz), of West Bend, WI, is a second generation teacher candidate, who has followed in the footsteps of her mother, a graduate of DMLC (now MLC) in '68. Her spunky comments (zingers) and spontaneity are sure to keep you on your toes. Laura's hobbies include reading voraciously and playing piano. A woman of many musical gifts, she h as enjoyed playing piano and organ, and singing in Joyce's Voices for the p ast four years. Another gift, Laura has is her artistic/ creative nature which is closely associated with her left-handedness. She would be the first to agree with the saying, "Left-handers are always in their right mind."

SARAH SCHUSTER comes to MLC

from LaCrosse, WI. Sarah attended Onalaska Lutheran High School. She comes from a family of six which includes three sisters Rachel, Christina, and Leah. She has worked as a waitress at the A & W restaurant for five years. Sarah is a very warm and caring person who enjoys working with children, especially telling them about the love of God, and is looking forward to having her own classroom.

LORI SCHWARK hails from Cornell, WI. However, she has not lived there very long. After her sophomore year, Lori decided to take a year off to spend with her family (on a mission call) in Kiev, Ukraine. During her time there, she taught kindergarten and helped with English classes at a nearby Ukrainian school. Last year, she returned to college to finish up her education. Lori enjoys working with younger children and appreciates anything to do with children's literature. But Lori is probably best known for her "Richard Simmons" shoes.

PAUL "Nut " SEAGER is one of the few men of the class who came to us via Wisco. Paul, a quiet man, sat by idle wit h nothing to say during the extent of the amalgamation process. When this man does speak he certainly does not mince his words and can often be heard screaming across campus, "Hey guy" or "Hey dude." This year he has spent his time searching for his soul-mate. Unfortuna tely the search has come up empty. A prolific football player, Paul volunteered to move to wide receiver so as not to scare the conference with his "rocket" arm at QB. P a ul spent his extracurricular time playing various sports, faithfully carrying out his janitorial duties, and getting to know his new computer. Pa ul has become quite the language scholar in four years, dubbing himself "Lens ki" and "Brown-Driver-Briggs" whenever it seemed appropriate. Paul will pack up his bags and his easy going style into his Honda Civic or Dodge Ra m and head for Mequon ASAP.

ANN SEIFERT was born and raised in Midland, Michigan. Her adventuresome spirit and love for the outdoors led her to work in Alaska for one summer where she picked up the nickname, Annie. Always the bargain shopper, antique auctions and furniture refinishing keep her occupied when she isn't waitressing at the Kaiserhoff. Ann looks forward to serving her Lord in the teaching ministry after her wedding in July.

DORENE "Dor is" SIVERLY, comes to us from the great town of Waukesha, WI. Her early years were spent at Christ the Lord in Brookfield where she was every teacher's dream pupil. She attended high school at Wisconsin Lutheran where she was famous for her grace and style and 300 average in the ever popular sport of bowling. Dorene's family consists of her parents, Skip and Dar, two older brothers, (one of which is single if any of you are interested) and one older sister. I believe they also had a dog once upon a time, but I think it died. Anyone who knows Dorene cannot help but love her. Her wacky personality and her great sense of humor help make the world a brighter place. Her love of children and her great dedication to teaching will truly benefit the teaching ministry. (Don't forget to cheer on Dorene as she represents the U.S.A. on the balance beam in Atlanta in the 1996 Olympic Games. Judging from her freshmen year performance, she's sure to get the Gold!)

ANNA SMITH never allows a lull in conversation. The word "bubbly" does not do her justice though because she is so much more. Her words of comfort have dried many an eye. Her words of kindness and encouragement pick people up from the mire when life seems too hard. There are many hurting young children in today's world who will benefit from Anna's kind words of encouragement and Christian outlook on life.

TIMOTHY, "Shybe", "Timmy" SONNTAG comes to MLC from Alpine, California.

He has two older brothers and one younger brother Matt who attends school here. Over the years Tim was involved in Collegiate Council, intramural basketball and volleyball, choir and Children's Theater. Tim also served as an RA. his junior and senior years. Tim is not fond of Minnesota weather and would prefer decorating palm trees instead of pine trees. Tim looks forward to teaching and eventually getting married and having a family.

SPEVACEK, resident of the World At Large. Never has the polite query, "So where are you from?" elicited such a complex response. Sooz is a missionary's kid who has made her home in Africa, Milwaukee, Arizona, Czechoslovakia, and Bulgaria. In winter, Susan's sunny personality warms the cockles of every heart. Come spring you may hear Susan trilling with the first birds, her face stretched by a smile that defies physical limitations. Susan's relentless efforts at matchmaking are exceeded only by her relentless yearn for popcorn. Whether she is popping kernels or prospective names Susan pursues life with a dramatic flair. Susan is eager to teach wherever she is placed. Her enthusiasm and abundant talents will grace any classroom. She will continue to be a blessing to all whose lives she touches.

JOSHUA "Stah,

Shticks, Sapling, Cruncy, die Zauberfloete" STAHMANN left his home in Gainsville, FL to attend MLPS. As he continued on to Northwestern and also MLC Josh became well-known for his laggardly ways despite the many activities his friends tried to schedule into his daily planner. "Stah" managed to survive his college years despite repeated attempts to plant him, cut him down, and use him as a Grecian battering ram. Josh will be packing up his computer (and all the cool games his friends love) and taking his new bride Lynnette Saatkamp to the Sem in the fall.

Energetic ... bubbly ... humorous ... creative ... These are a sprinkling of the adjectives that pop into my mind when I think of REBECCA STAUDE. Becca, a 1992 graduate of Northwestern Prep, is from LaCrosse, WI. For the past four years Becca has been actively involved in college life. She has participated in Porns and tennis, performed in various dramatic productions, and been a member of the College Touring Choir. On August 3, 1996 Becca will be married to Rob Wendland. Rob is currently a student at the Seminary and will receive a vicar call this spring. God's blessings as they begin their life together!

CHANDA STEELE - A very unique person, Chanda needs almost no introduction. She has been seen as a valuable member of the volleyball team for the last four years and has brought her laughter and fun-loving nature of College Choir in the last two years. She loves to travel and has had many unique experiences in recent years, such as doing EFE in Cibecue, Arizona, working in Alaska for a summer and snorkeling in Jamaica. She plans to tour Europe with Professor Koelpin's group this summer before moving on to her call.

BECKY STEFFENHAGEN comes to MLC from Hudson, WI. Her love for children led her to choose teaching as her future career early on in life. During her high school years and after she was active in Sunday School programs and Vacation Bible School. In 1992 she graduated from Hudson Senior High School. The choice to come to MLC was an easy one for her. Becky's interest in choir and organ led her to choose a music concentration with the Elementary Education program. She is thankful for the many friends and memories that she has made in the past four years, but she is also very excited about taking the next big step as she continues her service for the Lord as a teacher. JEFF STREHL0W'S favorite movie is Avalon, a movie of indomitable immigrant enthusiasm and optimism, and as such, it is, perhaps, the quintessential Stre. Jeff exudes enthusiasm. It crackles in the voice of his onstage personal, glints from eyes just about to micro-teach Newton's Third Law of Motion to an unsuspecting rollerblader, and waxes lyrically on the back of a postcard sharing his summertime tTampings. Likewise, enthusiasm's kin, optimism, oozes from every pore before a new tennis season, a five mile homecoming run, or a five hour Ultimate Frisbee adventure. (I cannot say after.) And finally this unsubdued enthusiasm and optimism will teach others the same, always naming the source of such "endurance inspired by hope," our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hello! My name is DANIELLE STEIN. I am from Denver, CO and went to Nebraska Lutheran High School. I spent 2 years at DMLC and then worked for a year here in New Ulm at a group home with 4 wonderful ladies. Last year I worked at East Fork Lutheran High School as a dorm supervisor and I also taught a few classes. I was eager to return to MLC and finish my last year of school because, I have come to realize that there is no better way for me to make a difference in the world than to teach God's lambs.

W,

KATHY STELL.JES spent her childhood near Dallas, Texas and now hails from Columbia, Missouri. She has a passion for music and her supreme understanding of theory and keyboard has led many to treasure her as a tutor. Kathy is famous among some (notorious among others) for her lack of procrastination. She amazes her friends by completing every project before most people have started. She will marry Matthew Wordell on June 9th, a fact which has led to record breaking phone bills! God's blessings to them both on their call and life together.

JOSHUA "Sternie, Stein-Fuss, Stem Ha-Ha" STERNHAGEN

was hatched to a pair of proud ostriches. After several years in the wild, young Josh was found by a missionary family in Africa. After riding in the belly of the great silver bird to the New World, Josh was raised by Cajuns in New Orleans, Louisiana. Later "Stem" packed up his fishing rods and small hunting arsenal and journeyed by Phoenix to Northwestern College and eventually to Martin Luther College. Upon graduation Josh aspires to become dictator of a small country or open his own convenience store/bait shop. However, Josh's path to power will be temporarily put on hold as he wishes to take his love of soccer to the campus of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in the fall.

SARAH SWIFT - A friendly smile is what you would receive if you passed Sarah Swift in the halls or on the sidewalk. Born near the mountains in Washington state, Sarah has grown to love nature a great deal. This love is made obvious as you watch her paint a landscape, doodle flowers of every type in her notebooks, or take a walk through Flandrau State Park (during an 8th hour choir rehearsal???). Aside from her love of nature, Sarah loves to set her homework assignments aside in order to fit in evening sporting events, intramural games, or simple social gatherings. It amazes many how she fits these in and somehow always manages to finish her homework and practice the piano. Sarah has tremendously enjoyed these past few years and looks forward to using her many talents in service to her Lord.

MARNr THON, an MLS grad, has kept herself busy at DMLC/MLC by participating in porns and cheerleading, messenger and musical. When not involved in one of these activities, you'll find Marni diligently practicing harmonica to prepare for her summer tours. She plans to play barnyard concerts all across the Midwest. She also looks forward to receiving a call in the teaching ministry.

RACHEL TREUDEN is a '92 graduate of WISCO who claims Brookfield, WI as her hometown. Although some may label Rach as quiet and reserved, her friends know better. During her years in New Ulm, she was an active member of the soccer tea m and the pompon squad. She also participated in various musical and dramatic productions, and was a member of the MLC College Choir. Treuden's claim t o fame is her adorable smile, which her friends find most humorous after she blurts an unexpected social faux pas. Her free time is spent asking for explanations of jokes and popping in and out of rooms not her own. Her foremost quest is finding someone to protect her from the big bad bat in the Music Ha ll. We hope that she will achieve this goal in the near future, if she hasn't already.

GENA UHLENBRAUCK is a graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran. She had lived in the Appleton area her entire life. Her freshman year at DMLC, Gena entertained us as the Lancer mascot. Since then, she has continued to entertain us with her eccentric sense of humor. She can easily bring a smile to anyone's face by singing a song or two. She is excited to take a call and share her joyful view of life with children.

ELLEN VANNlEUWENH0VEN,

has enjoyed working to make athletic events more enjoyable as a member of the Dance Team for four years. Ellen's lively personality is always a pick-me-up for her friends. She looks forward to marriage this summer and serving the Lord teaching his little ones.

DANIEL VOGEL "Vogs"

attended MLPS for high school. If you ask him where he is from he'd probably role his eyes and, taking a deep breath, give a list of cities ending with Kennewick, WA. He is known as the "music man" for his God-given talents in vocal and instrumental music. He has performed in musicals, concerts (both choir and band), and organ recitals. He looks forward to serving the Lord on the high school level some day.

STACEY WALKER -

a ClliS grad, is very excited to be.marrying Drew Agular

this summer (finally!). To pass time before the wedding, Stacey played softball,

basketball, and volleyball.

ELIZABETH WALLACE has

often been asked why she left sunny Escondido, California, to come to frigid New Ulm. She says, 'Tm beginning to wonderr Perhaps she came to DMLC because her mom went here. Or perhaps Beth came to this college, because of its great music department. Beth loves music. She plays organ and enjoys singing in College Choir. The main reason Beth came here is that she wanted to be a teacher for as long as she can remember . Beth likes to read, cross-stitch, play piano, and sing in her spare time. Wherever she gets sent when she receives her call, she hopes it is an adventure.

aka "Arnold," grew up on the blessed soils of Mequon, WI. Since ninth grade, Aaron has aspired to become a pastor. For this reason, he enrolled at Northwestern Prep as a sophomore. After graduating in 1992, Aaron spent tlie first three years at Northwestern College, and his last year at MLC. His conviction to become a pastor remains as firm today as it was eight years ago. For recreation, Aaron enjoys the sport of body building. However, his favorite pastime is enjoying the company of his fiancee, Jennifer Kowske. He plans on attending Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary next fall.

AmeN WEBER,

CRAIG WEIDE - "Any questions, Craig?" Usually the answer is "Yes" - not because of a lack of understanding on Craig's part but because of probing to learn more. Craig's probing has been beneficial to all his classmates over the years. He and his wife, Tammy, are living in Gibbon but will be moving sometime after Craig gets his call.

MIKE "Weeky Wacky" WEIGAND grew up in that surrealistic, urban sprawl we call Milwaukee. After spending high school at MLPS, Mike was led to enroll at Northwestern College and eventually l\.1LC. While there Mike's facade of peace and love was torn down only to reveal his true, insatiable, need for power. In the fall he plans to return to rule his old stomping grounds while at Sem.

JENNIFER WEMPNER, known to most ofus as "Wemp" calls Neenah, Wisconsin, her home. She has been seen throughout her years at Dl\.1LC/MLC in the sports limelight. Basketball kept her occupied for a short time, but the challenge of the women's soccer team was her true calling. Wemp's sense of humor and smile brightened the days of many of her friends. She's always been a little wet behind the ears, though. Maybe that has something to do with her job as a swimming teacher at Vogel Arena. Jen's love for children and her Lord are always evident, and she looks forward to sharing her Savior and smile with her students next year.

WENDT calls Aurora, NE, home. He has completed the four-year education program at l\.1LC with a social studies concentrate. During his college years, "Trav" enjoyed playing football. A fearless defensive end, he once returned a fumble 73 yards for a touchdown, the highlight of his illustrious career. A proud fan of his hometown team, the Cornhuskers, Trav has delighted in their recent national success. He has a tireless work ethic, and possesses a fun-loving, down-to-earth attitude that makes just about anyone who crosses his path smile. These qualities will be very useful as Trav looks forward to beginning his new life of giving a solid Christian education to Jesus' little lambs.

TRAVIS

JOHN "Vern" WERNER hails

from the now infamous metropolis of Cochrane, WI. After toiling in the salt mines of MLPS for 4 years, John was led to Northwestern and eventually MLC. In his spare time "1-800" could often be seen playing soccer or shopping all the post-Halloween candy sales. John will be walking to Sem this fall to help pay for his unrepairable Blazer. Donations are welcome.

JENNIFER WESTENDORF hails from

Mequon, WI. This daughter of Professor Westendorf of WLS has the ministry in her blood you could say. Although she experimented with the secular world for two years at UW Whitewater, she enrolled at New Ulm to pursue the teaching ministry. Upon arriving in New Ulm, Jen quickly became an active member in the student body. If you didn't see her singing in the choir she was probably recruiting future Knights. She also was a feared and respected leader on the floor of her dorm as an RA. A stickler for the rules, but always there with an understanding ear for those who had troubles. She is looking forward to graduation and call day and serving her Lord as a full-time teacher.

TIM WESTENDORF -T-West who

complains of chronic sideaches seems at present writing the next Apostle Paul. If he's not being all things to all men, he can be found being all things to all women. He is presently unattached and there are no signs of a break in the trend in the near future. For four years in a row in the fall he displayed his blazing hereditary speed as a wide receiver on the football team. During the winter months this little German patrolled the sidelines as a cheerleader. He sang for a year with the quartet Four on the Floor. A computer guru he enjoys using his free time to compose new screen savers for his computer. The greatest benefit of the amalgamation in Tim's eyes is that it gave him a chance to take exciting car rides back to Wisconsin with his friends. Next fall he will be heading home to his papa in Mequon.

is a 1992 graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran. After living in Gr,een Bay for 8 years, her family recently moved to Onalaska where her parents both teach. Katie had plans to attend DMLC for many years. She is a four-year English concentrate. Katie has thoroughly enjoyed her four years in New Ulm. She even spent a summer here while working at the Country Club and at Kaiserhoff. You may hear her friends calling her Kat - a nickname she acquired over the last few years. Katie is now busy planning her July wedding to Chad Wolfrath. She will then be living in the New London area near Chad's business and hopes to get a call to that area.

KATIE WIEGMAN

DAVE WI~ON, otherwise known to most of the populous as Bear was born in California, but spent most of his life in the Midwest. He attended Northwestern Prep, and enjoyed football and baseball all four years. Bear is a Social Studies concentrate in the teacher track. He is proud of his expertise in the kitchen as he has worked as a cook at both the Kaiserhoff and Holiday Inn. This su-chefs knowledge will be beneficial as he plans to marry in July of this year. Dave looks forward to serving his Lord in his quiet manner as the most organized principal the WELS has ever seen.

PETER WOLFGRAMM spent the first five years of his life in Chicago, where his father served as pastor at St. Andrews. In 1979, his family moved to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, where they lived until this past summer. Now his parents and two younger brothers serve our WELS mission in Sofia, Bulgaria. Peter spent all of his school years in Manitowoc, and he graduated from Manitowoc Lutheran High School in 1992. While in college, Peter has enjoyed participating in intramurals and lifting weights .

CHAD WRIGHT, also known as "Indy," started his childhood years in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He attended Arizona Lutheran Academy for his final three years of high school, graduating in 1992. Chad began his college education at the beloved school, Northwestern, and will complete it at MLC. His plans are to continue to study for the public ministry at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in the fall. Chad is currently engaged to Shanna Jacobsen of Elkhorn, Wisconsin. God willing they will be married on May 25 of 1996. Chad enjoys just about any recreational activity he can find time for, but he also finds pleasure in caring for the elderly.

My name is NATOSHA WRIGHT. People know me as Tosha, Snosh, Tosh or "Sunshine." After transferring from AZ State University here to DMLC, I decided to use my music abilities to serve the Lord full time. After three years the time has finally come. Wherever I go I will always thank the Lord for my blessings here and always remember the great friends I've made .

"Big Dog" found himself heavily recruited out of high school and has been a stalwart in football and basketball for four straight years. A big fan of his authority figures, Jay strived to mimic them in action and name. Jay lived his college years to the fullest, taking advantage of every situation which offered to enhance his knowledge. He also utilized every opportunity he had to spread his personal good will to different schools and college students far and wide. To find Jay at night, one could look anywhere but his bed. He spent his evening hours doing homework, socializing, working Dura Clean, or watching movies and caught up on his sleep in the comfort of his classroom desks. J.Z. found his niche as a class leader this year, heading up several different organizations and gaining the respect of his peers. Jay is a studious man and yet not one to be left behind. He found himself studying Greek and Hebrew on the sunny beaches of South Padre on more than one occasion. Jay will pack up his books and extra Homecoming Cos shirts and head to WLS next year.

JASON ZAHN -

MICHEU,.E ZITILOW upon graduating from Mandan Public High School, Mandan, North Dakota, moved with her family to Eagle River, Alaska. During her summer breaks, Michelle has enjoyed many of God's wonders through mountain climbing, snowmobiling, salmon fishing and visiting the Arctic Circle. Michelle has worked as a camp counselor and a care-giver at Intermission Crisis Nursery. While at MLC, Michelle has been involved in a variety of activities ranging from Spanish tutoring in Sleepy Eye to drama to cross country. Michelle will graduate having completed the Elementary Education program with a music concentrate. God has blessed her with many musical abilities. Michelle loves to use these talents to God's glory - whether through the organ, the flute or singing in the choir. Michelle is very excited to continue in her life of service to the Lord through educating His little lambs.
