WOMEN’S CHOIR Mary, Did You Know?
Words and Music by Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene Arranged by Craig Courtney (ASCAP)
Mary, did you know that your baby boy would someday walk on water? Mary, did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters? Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new? This child that you delivered will soon deliver you. Mary, did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man? Mary, did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand? Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? When you kissed your little baby, then you kissed the face of God. Mary, did you know? The blind will see, The deaf will hear, The dead will live again: The lame will leap, The dumb will speak The praises of the Lamb. Mary, did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation? Mary, did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations? Did you know that your baby boy was heaven’s perfect Lamb? This sleeping child you’re holding is the great I AM! Mary, did you know? Piano: Mrs. Kathryn Carlovsky Soloist: Hannah Bodden
MÄNNERCHOR A Shepherd’s Carol
Old Besançon Carol Arranged by Ken Berg
Shepherds, the chorus come and swell! Sing noel! Shepherds, the mighty chorus come and swell! Shepherds, shake off your drowsy sleep! Rise and leave your silly sheep: Angels from heaven around are singing, tidings of great joy are bringing. Shepherds, the chorus come and swell! Sing noel! Hark! Even now the bells ring ’round! Listen to their merry sound: Hark! How the birds now songs are making, as if winter’s chains are breaking. Shepherds, the chorus come and swell! Sing noel! See how the flowers all burst anew, thinking the snow is summer dew: See how the stars afresh are glowing, all of their brightest beams bestowing! Cometh at length the age of peace. Strife and sorrow now shall cease! Prophets foretold the wondrous story of this heaven-born Prince of Glory! Shepherds, the chorus come and swell! Sing noel! Shepherds! Then up and quick away. Go seek the Babe ere break of day; He is the hope of every nation. All in him shall find salvation! Shepherds, the chorus come and swell! Sing noel! Percussion: James Carter, Emma Niebuhr, Robert Reinke
When Christmas Morn Is Dawning When Christmas morn is dawning, In faith help me to see The child there in the manger, A mirror, God, of thee. A gift of grace and mercy, Of innocence and truth; The child there in the manger Is making all things new. Oh, keep my gaze upon thee And may I ne’er forget That though the world is trembling Emmanuel lives yet. So come this Christmas morning, When I first awake, Draw my heart to you, Lord, And with each breath I take, Fill my soul with wonder At the manger where you lay. Oh, make my heart the manger, The manger where you lay. Saxophone: Joseph Panning Piano: Mrs. Laura Stelljes

COLLEGE CHOIR In Dulci Jubilo In dulci jubilo (In sweetest joy), Let us our homage show, Our heart’s joy reclineth In praesepio (in a manger), And like a bright star shineth Matris in gremio (in a mother’s lap). Alpha es et O. (The beginning and the end.) O Jesu parvule! (O infant Jesus!) I yearn for thee always! Hear me, I beseech thee, O puer optime! (O best of boys!) My prayer, let it reach thee, O Princeps gloriae (O Prince of glory); Trahe me post te. (Draw me after you.) O Patris caritas! (O love of the Father!) O Nati lenitas! (O mercy of the Son!) Deeply were we stained, Per nostra crimina (through our sins); But thou hast for us gained Coelorum gaudia (the joys of heaven)! O that we were there! Ubi sunt gaudia? (Where are joys?) Where, if they be not there? There are angels singing Nova cantica (new songs); There the bells are ringing In Regis curia (in the King’s court). O that we were there!

A King Is Born
Words and Music by Sy Gorieb and Tim Hosman Arranged by Tim Sarsany
A King is born this day in Bethlehem. Hallelujah! No crown is worn, but angels worship him. Hallelujah! Almighty God so meek, so mild, Salvation comes through this holy child. A King is born, he is in the manger now; A King is born, humbly come and humbly bow; The tiny Lord, reaching out a tiny hand. A King is born this day in Bethlehem. His palace is lowly, his throne is made of hay. Hallelujah! The shepherds bow down to see his holy face. Hallelujah! Heaven is singing of peace on earth, Filled with the wonder of this birth. A King is born, he is in the manger now; A King is born, humbly come and humbly bow; The tiny Lord, reaching out a tiny hand. A King is born this day in Bethlehem. Come humbly and humbly bow; He’s in the manger now. Bass: Richard Giese Percussion: Joseph Panning, Emma Pufahl, Robert Reinke Piano: Mrs. Laura Stelljes Soloists: Ryan Boggs, Abbee Olsen

HOSANNA RINGERS Fantasy on Angels We Have Heard on High
Handel’s Christmas Messiah: A Cantata
GLORIA Arranged by Brian Childers
Music by George Frideric Handel Edited by Hal H. Hopson
I. Sinfonia II. First Reading - Isaiah 40:1-3 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, “Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.” III. Every Valley Shall Be Exalted - Isaiah 40:4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill made low: the crooked straight, and the rough places plain. Soloist: Noah Ungemach ’24
IV. And the Glory of the Lord - Isaiah 40:5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. V. Second Reading - Haggai 2:6-7; Malachi 3:1-3; Isaiah 7:14/Matthew 1:23 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Yet once, a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, the sea, and the dry land; And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come. The Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, in whom ye delight: behold, He shall come, saith the Lord of hosts. But who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appeareth? For he is like a refiner’s fire, and he shall purify the sons of Levi that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness. Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel, “God with us.”
VI. O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings to Zion - Isaiah 40:9; 60:1 O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion, get thee up into the high mountain! O thou that tellest good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up thy voice with strength! Lift it up, be not afraid! Say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God! Soloist: Jillian Sonnenberg ’14
VII. For Behold, Darkness Shall Cover the Earth - Isaiah 60:2-3 For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Soloist: Ryan Kluba ’23
VIII. Third Reading - Isaiah 9:2; 60:20 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: and they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, on them hath the light shined. The sun shall no more go down; neither shall the moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning shall be ended. IX. For Unto Us a Child Is Born - Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. X. Fourth Reading - Luke 2:8-13 There were shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone ’round about them, and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, “Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying: XI. Glory to God - Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth, goodwill towards men.
XII. Fifth Reading - Zechariah 9:9-10; Isaiah 35:5-6; Isaiah 40:11 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: Behold, thy King cometh unto thee; He is the righteous Savior, and he shall speak peace unto the heathen. Then shall the eyes of the blind be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd, and he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. XIII. Come Unto Him - Matthew 11:28-29 Come unto him all ye that labor, that are heavy laden, and he will give you rest. Take his yoke upon you and learn of him; for he is meek and lowly of heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Soloist: Raquel Willick ’21
XIV. Sixth Reading - Romans 10:15,18; Revelation 5:13 How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things. Their sound is gone out into all the lands, and their words unto the ends of the world. Blessing and honor, glory and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb, forever and ever. XV. Hallelujah! - Revelation 19:6; 11:15; 19:16 Hallelujah! for the Lord God Omnipotent reigneth. Hallelujah! The kingdom of this world is become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ; and he shall reign forever and ever, King of kings and Lord of lords. Hallelujah! O Jesus Christ, Thy Manger Is
Text by Paul Gerhardt Music by Johann Crüger setting: The Lutheran Hymnal 1941 Arranged by Bruce R. Backer
O Jesus Christ, thy manger is My paradise at which my soul reclineth. For there, O Lord, doth lie the Word Made flesh for us; herein thy grace forth shineth. The world may hold her wealth and gold; But thou, my heart, keep Christ as thy true treasure. To him hold fast until at last A crown be thine, and honor in full measure.
