SITE INFLUENCES At the beginning of the 20th Century the Reedy River was channelized for efficient shipping of textiles. Eventually, after numerous industrial processes the site was erased of its historical ecological communities.

FOUR LEGACY ISSUES Increased industrialization and urbanization of West Greenville has resulted in four legacy problems. These issues become more apparent as the Reedy River flows through the downtown and continue through the Saluda Watershed.

AMPLIFIED ANALYSIS PROBLEMS These four problems have compounded throughout the decades and have caused numerous issues to be become especially apparent on the site and at monitoring stations along the Saluda Watershed.

FORMING THE CRESCENT

CHANNELIZED RIVER

FLEXIBLE & RESILENT RIVER

SHAPING THE CRESCENT to function with natural processes such as Sedimentation and Flooding. It is shaped to alleviate these issues, mainly through reverting the channel for a slower flow rate and thus capturing and filtering more stormwater.

PHASE 1- TARGET PLAY AREAS

PHASE 2- DEVELOP COMMUNITY DRIVEN BERMS

SEDIMENT DISPERSAL Sediment would be collected after flood events and reused to form berms utilized on-site in different configurations. Each one configured to the adjacent communities needs.
