Here we are on the downhill slide of the year already! The seniors are getting itchy to leave, and everyone at that is ready for our summer vacation. We still have so much left to cover for you guys, and we hope that if there is anything that we could include that you would contact any of the pulse team with your ideas. My team has put together an issue full of test prep ideas, Easter festivities, Prom pictures and all things Reeds Spring! By: Kyndall Porter Student hacks are going to shift more to Easter hacks for this issue,I think it will be fun to show you guys fun festive ideas for the holiday. I am going to give you a few decorative crafts that will make your holidays a little better One clever way to make your fire place or manner a little more festive 1. Take color splotches of every color 2. Cut them into egg shapes 3. Put a hole punch in the top of each egg 4. Then string them all together so then your product looks like this

A good way to incorporate your dinner with the Easter holiday is if you were to make dinner rolls you can put little slips to look like ears and then cook them and then when they come out it looks like the head of a bunny

Another way to keep the kids entertained while they are hunting Easter eggs is to not just putting candy in them or money you can put puzzle pieces so that after all the eggs are found you can have the kids sit down and try to figure out the puzzle with all of their pieces together

When setting a table it can be hard to get the napkins to stay where you would like so here is a hack you can use when setting your table 1. Take a pipe cleaner and wrap it around the napkin 2. Twist the ends around so that there is something to hold

Staff Opinion

As I go on through becoming an adult earlier than my friends, I will have the opportunity to take a year off and just work. If I decide that cosmetology isn’t what I want to do anymore after I get my license, then I can go back to college and do something else, and I’ll be on track with everyone else all over again. If I decide that cosmetology isn’t what I want to do before I start cosmetology schooling, then I can take the year to decide what I want and start college with my friends, never falling behind, but always being a little bit ahead. And I think that’s the best thing with graduating early, it gives you a little more time to decide what you really want to do with your life without falling behind. Falling behind isn’t necessarily a bad thing though, but I’d much rather be ahead of everyone and everything instead of behind.

In my opinion, graduating early is definitely worth it. As a junior in High School, I would say getting all my credits out of the way and graduating a whole year early is most definitely worth all the extra time I have spent on school. Graduating early allows you to begin your journey with your life and career. There are some downsides to this though. As much as I will love to be ahead of everyone and out of high school, I am going to be missing out on quite of bit of things with my friends.

Graduating early will be a fun and great opportunity, but I won’t be graduating high school with the same people I started it with. I won’t be able to stand by my friends in the front row of all the football games. I won’t get to experience the students in my class becoming the Homecoming and Courtwarming candidates and King and Queen. I won’t get to go through my friends’ last year of high school with them, because I’ll be moved on and in college without them.

Being less than two months away from graduation, I have to look back and be proud of what I’ve done. I went to summer school every summer to get credits for classes, and maintained a passing grade in every class. I did my assignments and I finished for due dates. I pushed through all the stressful events with life and school and I made it. I’m graduating a whole year early. When I talk to people about graduating early, I always get questioned “Aren’t you going to miss not being there with your friends your senior year?” And I’ve never really had an answer until now. Yes, I will miss not being there with my friends, but I’m still going to be a part of their lives and supporting them all the time. I’m going to help them finish out their last year of school, just as they did mine.

Since I am only a junior, I’m still not allowed to park in the senior parking lot, even though I am graduating with the seniors. If I were to be elected for Homecoming or Courtwarming, I’m not able to be selected as a candidate for Queen because I’m still just a junior. I don’t decorate the senior float for Homecoming, I don’t decorate the senior hallway (the cafeteria) for Courtwarming, I don’t get to go another year of high school with my friends and the people I grew up with.

I think graduating early is always a good option; if you’re afraid of missing out on stuff, then don’t graduate early. It is definitely a decision you make when you know for sure that it is what you want to do. There are other options too; if you want to walk with your class at graduation you can, you just have to take some classes in the summer and finish out your credits there. You won’t have to go your senior year, but you’ll still be a part of the graduation ceremony with your class. And if you just want to stay with your friends, then stay with your friends. This is a decision only you can make, and it has to be something you absolutely want to do.

There is still quite a bit I can do though. I can leave school on the last day with the seniors, which is 2 weeks early might I add. I can walk across stage and get my diploma a whole year early. I can take my finals a whole week early. I can move on with my life and begin my career while my friends are still doing homework for high school classes. I can travel the world and become more aware of myself earlier than when most of my friends do. I am learning self-discipline and responsibilities much earlier than I thought I ever would. While all my friends will be taking fun classes their last year of high school, I’m taking regular high school classes, all of which give me the last credits I need. I have harder classes than the ones my friends will take their last year. I set myself up for this though, it is a sacrifice I had to make to go through with graduating early; and as I look back on my years of high school, I’m glad this is what I chose to do. The best part about all of this is that I won’t be missing out on much of high school. I’ve never really been involved in much. I did Varsity cheer my sophomore year and I’m in Student Council but other than that I’ve never really been involved with the school.

All in all, graduating high school is a big step in life. Whether you graduate with your friends, or graduate with a completely different class, it is still a big milestone. Graduating early just gives you a little bit more thinking time if it’s needed, or it can be a good step to being ahead and getting right into your career if you know what you want. Don’t rush anything though, everything is going to work out no matter when you decide to graduate, it’s all your choice.

In April 2016 there were huge jumps within the country music industry. Country music has a definition of popular music usually point towards the rural or southern US. This definition could possibly be correct but country music seems to be loved by many and call kinds of people all around. There are those who listen year round and then there are those who love the feel of summer and the sound that country brings off. There are a lot of crazy top artists that have name their name known. Back in April 2009 Taylor Swift hit the jackpot with getting 17.2 million as a salary. In April of 2000 George Strait landed his 36th billboard number one with “The Best Day”. Kenny Chesney hit big screen with footage shot over six nights in five cities. Dolly Parton calls it quits after seven years in the Porter Wagoner T.V. show. In 2010 The Rascal Flatts appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show they also released a video with Justin Bieber. Toby Keith in 2000 was in the middle of a five-week run at #1 with “How Do You Like Me Now”. In 2003 Dierks Bentley made his Grand Ole opry debut. Lady Antebellum in 2010 won top Vocal Group, singing “Need You Now”. In 1970 John Cash plays for President Nixon at the White house. In 2010 Eric Church’s “Springsteen” goes gold. In 2011 Carrie underwood and Vince Gill sang “Cowboy Casanova” during the intermission of the

“No” is the answer. And I wish the book had taken the opportunity to address that.

But otherwise, this is a creative page-turner, even if it seems a bit strange that cassette tapes were being used in 2007. I liked it a lot and it really made me think.

This story is told from the perspective of Clay, but is mostly about the life of Hannah, a girl who recently killed herself. After her death, Clay returns home from school to find a strange package with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers several cassette tapes recorded by Hannah. Hannah’s voice tells him that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he’ll find out why. Clay spends the night crisscrossing his town with Hannah as his guide. He becomes a firsthand witness to Hannah’s pain, and as he follows Hannah’s recorded words throughout his town, what he discovers It is extremely compelling, unputdownable, but a problem many readers have is that the book relies on your sympathy for Hannah to effectively relay its message, and yet Hannah comes off as bratty, selfish and often times over-sensitive. Many of her “reasons” are things that everyone has experienced at some point and people generally file those under “bad days” and definitely don’t kill themselves because of it. But actually, I completely understood and sympathized with Hannah. As a suicide survivor, I even related to her at times. And, though I don’t attempt to speak for everyone, I feel in a position to attest that there can be something bratty and selfish about suicide. I think this book captured a certain feeling very well and I disagree with those who thought Hannah wasn’t realistically suicidal. It’s true that nobody kills themselves because they get stood up, and nobody kills themselves because some douche groped their butt, and nobody kills themselves because of a mean rumor... but each of these is a little bit more added to the weight that is crushing down on someone. People like to look for clear-cut reasons that make sense. They want Hannah to give a good reason why she killed herself. But, in reality, it so rarely is one big reason you can point to. Most of the time, the little things all build up, day after day, one small thing after another, until the little reasons all blend into a single feeling of hopelessness. That is what this book is about. And it’s also about taking responsibility for your actions and understanding how your small selfish acts can affect someone else. I did not have an issue believing in or finding sympathy for Hannah. My only real issue with this book was Clay, the revelation about him, and the way he viewed the truth about Hannah. Clay changes his mind about Hannah based on what he hears and decides she did not deserve to be slut-shamed because the rumors weren’t true. But - would she have deserved the treatment any more if she had done what the rumors said?

1. Famous in Love (April 18th, 9:00 pm on Freeform) Paige Townsen is a normal college girl working on her business degree who enjoys acting on the side. When the next big movie franchise goes into production and opens its doors looking for the next “It girl” to play the lead role, Paige’s roommates Cassie and Jake convince her to go to the open casting call. Never in her wildest dreams does she think she will even make it to the callbacks, but after an electric audition with Hollywood heartthrob Rainer Devon, her chance of a lifetime happens. She gets the part and her life is about to change forever.

spring break. They played 5 games. Their first game of the year was against Forsyth and the Wolves had some first game jitters. They ended the game with a loss, 12-3. The Wolves also played in the Right Off The Bat tournament. They started off against Walnut Grove and lost 13-5. They came back with a win against Clever by a score of 12-4. They then faced the number one team in the state in Aurora, and lost by a score of 6-0. They then faced Conway and lost 6-4 earning 6th place in the tournament out of eight teams. The Wolves hosted a three team mini tournament with Neelyville and Northwest Hughesville. The Wolves beat Neelyville 6-3 and Hughesville 5-1. The Wolves once again faced Clever, this time at home. They dominated in every facet of the game from the start. They had an offensive outburst in a 13-0 win in 5 innings. Craig Foster and Chance Herrman hit back to back home runs in the victory.

March 27th with quite possibly the toughest opponent they will face. They were matched up against Springfield Catholic and ended up with the loss. The very next day, they came back with a win in a home match against Hillcrest. The boys breezed through their matchup with Forsyth, winning 8-1. The Wolves faced Bolivar at home and kept it close but couldnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t pull out the win.

Golf -At the R.S. Invitational, the golf team placed 5th with the best individual score being 8th place by Tyler Lingholm.

Track-In the Branson Invitational, Korey

Robinette placed first in the 100 meter and Ransom Allphin placed first in the 110 meter hurdles. The Wolves had a big day at the RSHS invitational. Korey Robinette and Ransom Allphin once again placed first in the 100 meter and in the 110 meter hurdles, respectively. Korey also placed first in the 200 meter and Ransom also placed first in the 300 meter hurdles. The 4 by 1, 4 by 2, and 4 by 4 teams all placed first. Colter Whitten placed third in the 100. Whitten and Kyle Modlin placed third and second in long jump. Kyle also placed first in triple jump and Devin Hackathorn placed third in triple jump. Joshua Dejarnette placed second in high jump. Darrin Rathburn placed third in shot and Xavier McDaniel placed first and broke the school record with a 55.2. McDaniel also placed second in discus and Austin Bradfield placed third. had any discipline in high school. Her GPA was a 4.24 on a 4 point scale! And on top of all of that, she only had one B on a grade card ever in her whole high school career! She graduated High School in May of 2009. She then went to college at Texas Tech. University. Ms. Polson graduated from Texas Tech. in May of 2013. She received a Major in Theatre (drama) and a Minor in secondary education. She also has a Master’s Degree in instructional design and technology. Ms. Polson likes reading, watching shows in Branson, listening to music, going out with friends, and doing improvisation things. Ms. Polson also has a dog named Dingo; part Terrier

By: Rylee Olson Loran Polson is a dramatic, passionate teacher at Reeds Spring High School. She teaches English 1, English 3, and Speech and Debate. Before coming to Reeds Spring, she worked as a teacher in a school in Texas. There she taught Theatre (drama) for 3 years. Her most proud teaching moment would have to be when she taught in Texas, there was a girl in her theater class who was very quiet and shy. One day they did musicals and could get into groups to perform but she had asked Ms. Polson if she could have a solo, so she did a solo and rocked the stage and Ms. Polson was so proud! In the future, Ms. Polson would like to continue teaching, no matter what she has to teach, but she was much rather be teaching theatre (drama) if she is going to continue teaching; she does not want to be a principal though. She was nervous about going to Reeds Spring, but she was always very excited. Not at all scared though! Outside of teaching, she works in the box office at the Hughes Brothers’ Theater and is a member of an Improvisation Troupe in Branson that will be having a few shows this year at the Pierce Arrow Theater. She loves all of the jobs she has!

Her mom and dad are still married and living happily together. As a matter of fact, both her parents are teachers! She also has a little sister, whom lives in Los Angeles, California; she is 22 years old and will be moving back to Missouri soon with her husband.

Loran Polson was born April 26th of 1991. She was born in Lockney, Texas and raised in Sunray, Texas. She went to Sunray High School in Texas. There, she did Theatre (drama), Speech and Debate, golf, band (she played the trombone if anyone is wondering), drum major her sophomore year, FCCLA, NHS, Prom Committee, and was Valedictorian. Easter Traditions

Coach Nichols- “Going to church, the Easter bunny still comes to my house!”

Coach Anderson- “Take the kids to the farm with eggs over a four acer piece of land and it takes about two hours so that just gives us adults a break.”

Easter is a holiday that is celebrated or could be celebrated in many ways. Most of us know it as the day we celebrate Jesus Christ’s resurrection. From church services, to candle lightings, to flowing and ringing of bells. Easter Sunday has come to be known all over the world. Obviously there are many different things that people do to celebrate this holiday and so I went around asking some former students what their easter looks like, what is their favorite part about this holiday, and asked them what are some traditions that they take part in on this special day.

Madison Thomas- “Go to Neosho to see my mom’s family and set up eggs for the little kids” Dr. Ross- “Eggs are my favorite part, Snickers eggs, Reese’s eggs, Twix eggs, I got all the eggs in my head I like them all!” Austin Bradfield- “For Easter I help at Stonebridge and help with the big Easter Egg hunt and then on actual Easter my family and I will go and eat at the buffet.” Lydia Settles- “going to grandma’s house is about all we do.” Mr. Rantz- “one year my dad killed a bunny and I ate it thinking I ate the Easter bunny.” Christian Roston- “My family sits around the table and tell their deepest darkest secrets.” Everyone seems to have their different things they do to celebrate this Easter season, but I would like to tell you about how my family celebrate. From looking our best and going to church to making sure we are spending the time with our huge family as long as possible there are so many things that we think about and realize when this holiday comes around.

Davaughn Irvin- “Family lunch is our tradition, and Easter egg hunting but I just steal the money out of the eggs.” Courtney Scobee- “Going out to hunt Easter eggs.” Al Chavez- “My Easter tradition is getting an Easter basket, I don’t hunt for eggs anymore.” Joey Hembree- “We always go on a big family hike.” Abby VanHaitsma- “For Easter we usually go to my Grandma’s, we celebrate april and may birthdays all together, and do an egg hunt.” Daniel Campos- “We go to Mississippi to visit family for Easter.” Tyler Herzan- “Kill rabbits.” Amanda Pryor- “Grandma comes up from Texas, get very dressed up and go to church and take family pictures and end with an Easter dinner.” Tara Sampson- “Candy, I guess.”

EOC By: Amanda Pryor The dreaded, end of course exams are quickly approaching. Every school in Missouri is required to give the test to students at the end of almost every class they take. It shows how well our teachers are teaching, how well our students are engaged, and how well we can study and prepare for a major test as a school. Usually at this time of the year, students are super crammed, studying and completing review worksheets and vocabulary tests. Although school is almost out, April is arguably one of the most important months to study and try to get your grades up before the end of the year.

Here at Reeds Spring, teachers give a lot of time in April to go over previous chapters and handout practice EOCs, which will give us an idea of what the test might look like. I interviewed a teacher from each department and asked each of them different questions on what the EOC meant to them, and what it did to the way their classroom syllabus looked like around April. The Math department was up first, so I visited Mr. Ross and asked him his personal opinion on our EOCs. “I’m nervous for the end of course exams. Its my first time participating in the test because I am a new teacher this year. Though, I am confident that I can lead students where they need to be in order for them to succeed. Most students that take test taking seriously,” Mr. Ross said, “but, in every situation there is a small percent that doesn’t take their grades as seriously as other students.” He seemed hopeful and confident about the exams for his class. When I talked to Ms. Jenkins in the science department, I asked her what she did to prepare her students for the test. “I prepare my students by giving them multiple practice tests throughout the year. I track their progress, and then plan my review lessons on topics it seemed a lot of the kids struggled with. This is what we do up to the last three weeks before the EOC, reviewing and going over subjects that they will be tested on.” So far, it seemed like a trend that our teachers were doing their best to review material that we needed to be refreshed on.

I thought it would be helpful to understand how the EOC reflects on a kids grade. Does it show how smart the student is? The EOC is worth 10% of our grade, so is such a drastic change in our grade fair to us students? Mr. Mettlach answered this question for me in the history department, “The EOC is definitely a good representation of a students overall mastery in content. It helps us teachers know where a student is at and how we can help students better next year. In the same mind fame, there are students who just struggle with test taking. So they might know the content really well but could just be super overwhelmed. Our teachers at Reeds do a good job in letting the student show they know the material during the year, besides the EOC (Ex. On Thursday, the president launched a large attack against many conservative republicans who thwarted the party’s own healthcare plan. Launched through a series of tweets, Trump argued his threat to back challenges against members of the House Freedom Caucus if they go against party leaders. An extremely daring, and somewhat controversial move, he also shamed the group’s chairman, Rep. Mark Meadows, and other important group members for what he said is their efforts to derail ObamaCare repeal and tax reform.

“The bill’s polling at 17 percent,” said Rep. Dave Brat, another Freedom Caucus member. “The American people are not in support of this bill. And we represent them, so we can do better.” Trump’s deteriorating relationships with conservatives in the House could spell disaster for him for him to pass his top agenda items, including an overhaul of the tax code, an infrastructure package, and money (a lot of money) to build his proposed wall at the southern border. It could also complicate GOP leaders’ efforts to approve a must-pass spending bill to keep the government open beyond the April 29 funding deadline. But Trump was angered with the failure of the healthcare bill, the first major legislative initiative of his presidency. And he decided to act on his initial instinct to cross some of his staunchest allies on the right, against the wishes of establishment figures like Speaker Ryan and activists in the conservative movement. Tea Party leader Mark Meckler made the statement that he was “disgusted” by Trump’s attacks against the House Freedom Caucus.

The Times report appeared to contradict repeated statements from Nunes that the White House was not the source of his information, giving Democrats new leverage to argue that the House investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election has been compromised.

Stories about Nunes aired endlessly on cable news on Thursday, even as the GOP’s public battle over who is to blame for the healthcare failure forced members to take sides. Speaker Ryan said at a news conference that he understood why the president was frustrated, but broke with Trump in a separate interview by stating that he did not want to work with Democrats on healthcare. And Rep. Chris Collins, a Trump ally and member of the centrist Tuesday Group, confirmed at a meeting Wednesday that it will not meet with the Freedom Caucus to negotiate changes to an ObamaCare replacement bill. In another sign of possible fallout from last week, Ryan on Thursday morning hosted more than a dozen conservative free-market and anti-abortion leaders in his office. Noticeably absent from the meeting were any representatives from four outside conservative groups that opposed the healthcare bill: FreedomWorks, Club for Growth, Heritage Action and Americans for Prosperity. No matter your own personal viewpoints: it must be admitted that this is an extremely hairy situation in our legislation. It’s no doubt going to take a very long and even more complex process to sort out. Especially if the right continues to condone the fallout within its own party, hopefully in the coming months, the party bickering and blatant disregard for ethics will be obsolete.

For pete’s sake someone framed a picture of kim jong un and hung it on the staff wall, replacing air freshener with shrimp scent or even leaving shoes and jeans in the bathroom stall. Some of these pranks are with very little thought at least it seams like, but they’re all very original and would surprise someone. Some times on this day the prank you’ve planned for months get derailed and you have to either have a backup plan or think of something on the spot. Some people have a group that goes and pranks and sets up big ones or scatters the little ones being in a bigger group is a bigger chance of getting caught in the act but you can get it done a lot quicker. Some people act different when they are pranking or messing with someone on the First of April even with some of their closest friends and family, which for most of the people getting prank is a big giveaway.

April fools is an amazing time of year for everyone besides the pranked, whether it’s mayo filled doughnuts or onions covered in caramel on a stick. Some of the things my buddies and i thought about for a good month was putting ping pong balls and lots of them in his corvette or maybe even kidnapping brooklyn’s dog for a couple days saying he ran away but maybe that wouldn’t of been the best idea. That’s another things about april fool’s day you really have to think about the prank and whether it’s smart or not maybe instead of saran wrapping a car you can use sticky notes. It’s all about exploring your every option and expanding every prank, sometimes it’s even impressing the person you prank rather than making them mad some people take jokes better than others.

Just acting like yourself and putting the big scheme together is what gets it all done smoothly. Even if it’s something small people pick on the littlest of things. So it all depends on what kind of joke you’re pulling with the certain person you’re pulling it on. A lot of pranks always have at least one flaw whether it’s time managment or even getting the person in the right place if it’s a bigger one. Most people think of pranks as just a simple joke but others perceive it as a way of tricking someone or getting the best of them and making them think they’ve been outdone. The common prankster mostly thinks of ways they can get the best of someone and most of the time they do but some people who don’t think things through at all don’t get it done right a good prank can be ruined with poor planning.

That’s another thing people need to consider is how the certain person takes a joke or prank because you really don’t want a horrible reaction but kind of in the middle is what you should be shooting for. People loved seeing the thought you put into the prank towards them it may even compliment by the effort and amount of planning and thinking you did. Most people really don’t like being pranked whatsoever and dread april first as a whole. This year wasn’t that big for me because of all days i had a baseball tournament and then had to dogsit for the rest of the night. Things can be as simple as cutting out a little cockroach and putting it on the inside of a lamp or putting a few balloons on the door to make a teacher think you filled there whole room with balloons.

Girls are busy booking their hair and nail appointments, searching for the perfect dress, stressing about the “perfect date,” or worse not having a date at all! Then there’s booking a photographer, or making dinner reservations, tux rental, finding the right accessories, not eating too much so that on the day of prom you can actually breathe in your gown. Figuring all this out on a high-school budget too! This all seems so stressful, yet year after year we look forward to the chaos of going to an event that is for one night. I asked a few students here at Reeds a few questions about prom, and here are their answers:

The reason waxing lasts so much longer than shaving is because you are ripping the hair out from the root. This does mean some discomfort, but the pain is tolerable enough for smooth legs.

There are different ways and benefits to removing your hair. Estheticians and cosmetologists prove which hair removal method is most effective for different parts of the body and why, which is what we will go over in this paper.

Threading This method is usually for smaller sections of hair removal, like your eyebrows. The cosmetologist twists wax covered thread, and moves it back and forth over the unwanted hair. It is painless and quick, giving precise and sharp results. Threading lasts twice as long as waxing, and takes just about the same amount of time. Choose threading as a painless alternative to waxing.

Shaving Probably the most common method, shaving has made an appearance in mostly everyone’s home. It involves a razor head and the razor itself, which you can buy separately or already put together. Shaving is painless, as long as you’re careful not to cut yourself. If you aren’t using a very good quality razor though, or are too rough, you might experience razor burn and ingrown hairs. It will leave a scratch looking burn on your skin, or small red bumps. You can shave anywhere on your body, but beware. Because you are only cutting off the hair at the very base of your skin, the root is still in your skin; meaning your hair will grow back in 1-3 days and will be even coarser than before you shaved that area. This would be at the base level of hair removal if there was a scale.

Laser Hair Removal Laser Hair removal can get to be pretty costly, but if you’re consistent with your appointments, the results are amazing. Laser is a cosmetic procedure where a medical professional uses light to emit the light onto your hair and basically burn it off. The light is attracted to darker skin pigments and darker hair, but that doesn’t mean any fair skinned person couldn’t get this procedure done and it work. The more times you go get your hair lasered, the longer the results will last. It’s a process, but when you keep up with it, its possible that the results are lifelong.

Waxing Waxing, my personal favorite is the next step up from shaving. You melt hot wax, and apply it to the skin. There are a couple different ways to do the next part. Some waxes, you put a parchment like paper over the wax, pat it down, and rip the wax and paper off all together. Other waxes you just wait for the wax to dry and peel it off and your hair will come with it. You can get the procedure done in a salon (most effective, the estheticians are experienced), or you can try and do it DIY at home. There

In Queensland, Australia there was quite a few of people who didn’t take the police warnings seriously when the flood waters started coming. Next time they will for sure though, especially after a bull shark washed up onto shore. Cyclone Debbie, which went across Australia a few weeks ago, caused widespread damage with winds up to 185 kph (114 mph). No deaths have been recorded, but there have been extensive flood warnings and with the flood, and being in Australia, instead of staying out of the flood waters, they have been surfing in the waters! Cyclone Debbie slammed into the Far North Queensland coast as a Category 3 cyclone, the most powerful to hit the region since Cyclone Yasi in 2011. The International Space Station even captured the swirling clouds in the hours before Cyclone Debbie hit! Schools in the areas had closed down for a few days as the storm continued its journey. Those who hadn’t gotten hit by the storm yet were preparing sandbags to help protect their property from the storm.

A man who allegedly killed an elderly father after he had enjoyed an Easter meal with his children -- then posted a video of the killing on Facebook -- is the subject of a nationwide manhunt, Cleveland police said Monday.

Though Pennsylvania authorities said that Stephens’ cellphone had issued a “ping,” or a signal, in Erie, Pennsylvania, the Erie Police Department said it had no knowledge of a ping emitted from its city. Erie is about 100 miles east of Cleveland. Williams told reporters earlier he couldn’t speak to the report of a ping. Stephens’ last known location was the murder scene, he said.

Steve Stephens, 37, stands charged with Sunday’s aggravated murder of 74-year-old Robert Godwin, and police Chief Calvin Williams said law enforcement nationwide are on high alert. “This is what we would consider a national search for Steve,” Williams told reporters. “So, we are not going to leave any stone unturned.” The suspect’s mother said that when she last saw Stephens on Saturday, he said it would be a miracle if she ever saw him again. The moment we’ve all been waiting for 15 months and 453 days has arrived! April the Giraffe has finally had her baby. April has given birth to a baby boy on April 15th. This will be April’s fourth calf, but the first for her mate Oliver. April’s calf will be the second baby giraffe to be delivered in the United States in recent days. A male named Dobby was unexpectedly born on Tuesday at a Denver Zoo in Colorado despite the mother, Kipele, being on birth control. The payoff after weeks of anticipation for those addicted to April’s live stream began about 7:30 a.m. — with Adventure Park owner Jordan Patch yelling into a camera from his car: “We are in labor 100 percent!” There had been false starts before, but not far away in a pen in Upstate New York, two hoofs were peeking out of April’s backside. Then a head. Half an hour later, the not-so-tiny infant took its first wobbly steps across a pen that’s been live-streamed 24 hours a day for nearly two months.
