The Albert Lea Family Y reserves the right to cancel programs due to low enrollment. Full refunds are given when this occurs. Persons withdrawing registrations must give 72 hours notice before the program starts to receive a full refund. Pick-Up Soccer for All Ages
SilverSneakers is the nation’s leading older adult fitness program aiming to improve strength, endurance, flexibility, agility, and coordination. (In conjunction with Southwest Tiger Trot) The Fountain Lake 5 is a five mile run, jog, or walk around Fountain Lake. Entry includes a dry-fit t-shirt & post-race refreshments. Awards are given to the top male and female and to the1st-3rd place finishers in each age group.

Livestrong Program at the YMCA
Livestrong at the YMCA focuses on you the whole person, not the disease. The free, 12 week program meets twice a week for 90 minutes, using traditional exercise methods to ease you back into fitness and help you to maintain a healthy weight. Diabetes Prevention Program
The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program helps adults at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes reduce their risk of developing the disease by taking steps that will improve their overall health and well-being. It is a 1-year program (16 weekly sessions, then monthly sessions) in a small group, supportive environment. Qualifications include adults 18+, overweight (BMI>27), at risk for or have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes, or a previous diagnosis of gestational diabetes. Youth Sports Volleyball - February 27 - April 4, 2020
Youth volleyball is for girls and boys in grades K-5. This six week program will be held Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings and will help to develop skills through a variety of age appropriate skill drills and team building exercises. All players will learn basics of passing, serving, hitting, blocking, and working as a team. Games will be played on Saturdays with boys and girls being divided into teams by age. Youth & Family Playroom Service
The Y’s School’s Out Program Looking for a safe, fun place for your children to go after school? Why not try the Y’s School’s Out program? This program is for children grades K-5 and is run by the Y in cooperation with District 241. The program starts when school is over and ends at 6:00pm. Kids will be bussed to the Y from their school. Activities include games, group activities, snack time, crafts, study time and occasional field trips. $40 one-time registration fee $5 one-time registration fee for additional siblings
Payment for playroom services is by playroom cards only. Cards can be purchased at the front desk and come in increments of $12 or $24. Fee: $2/child per hour.

Kids Day Off
Throughout the school year there are several days with no school for the kids. On those week days, the place for K-5 elementary school youth is at the Y! We offer games, crafts, group activities, swimming and lots of fun. Children can arrive as early as 7:00am and must be picked up by 6:00pm. The Y staff leads all activities. Parents need to bring a sack lunch, water bottle, three snacks, swim suit and towel for their children. Toddler/Gym Time
Parent & Toddler Gym Time is an opportunity for toddlers and pre-schoolers to be active with their parent(s) through games and activities. This is a parent run class, so come and enjoy some time away from home with your children. Bikes, balls, blocks and climbing equipment are available in this gym to use. Children may also bring ride-on toys to use in the gym. Members can use this anytime - just use the checkin/out form at the front desk. Non members can have access at the times listed below. The 3:30 Fit Club is for 6th and 7th grade students that want to come to the Y after school to participate in a different sport activity each Tuesday/Thursday. Cost is $5 for a month segment. Middle School Orientation
Orientations are for 12, 13, and 14 year olds who would like access to the SMB and free weight rooms. Staff will provide the knowledge needed to use the facility independently and responsibly. The orientation will highlight the correct use of equipment, proper lifting techniques, strength training principles, safety rules, and proper etiquette. This class begins in the aerobics room and finishes in the weight room. The first 15 minutes of class will consist of fast paced cardio followed by the use of 4+ strength training machines. This class will help you gain strength, increase endurance and improve your overall physical fitness.
These series of poses and methods will allow seniors to increase muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, and stamina. The class also promotes a deeper mind/body connection that will help mental acuity and stress reduction.
Cycle, Core, and more Group cycling combined with segments of body weight and body bar strength training for a total body workout.
The class is designed to increase the participant’s flexibility, joint stability, dynamic balance, coordination, agility, reaction-time, muscular strength, power and cardiovascular endurance.

Combines Pilates and yoga in a Vinyasa style flow. Sure to get your heart rate up, build strength and flexibility while supporting your mind, body, and sprit for a total body workout. Please wear comfort clothing and bring a mat. All levels welcome, previous yoga experience is advised.
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and ease of daily living. Dumbbells, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

Enjoy this all-level cardio flow-style class. Sun salutations form the foundation, core, strengthening, and energy of the class. Class includes balance poses to center the mind and improve focus; bends that relieve stress, depression and soothe back pain; twists to realign the spine and stimulate the internal organs: and stressreducing meditation. No yoga experience necessary. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat. All standing poses are done with bare feet for your safety.
Class will be centered around a Vinyasa style yoga (flow). Vinyasa Yoga integrates movement and breath, builds strength, and increases flexibility. Modifications will be offered to provide an optimal level for all.
Hatha Yoga (easy) Using Vinyasa flow sequences to link movement with breath, this moderate paced class helps to build strength and flexibility. The practice includes pranayama (breathing techniques) as well as asanas (postures) and ends with a short meditation to bring peace to the mind, body, and spirit. All levels welcome. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat.

Warrior Yoga Tone-Cardio-Strength. Warrior combines a dynamic warm up, strength and cardio conditioning with a yoga sequence, ending with a tension releasing cool down. The intensity of strengthening and calorie burning movements with breath improves mental and emotional focus.
Yin Yoga A slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or asana, that are held for longer periods of time. For beginners, it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more.
Take your workout to the next level with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). This class will build muscular strength and improve cardiovascular fitness through various exercises performed at specific intervals. You’ll never get bored with a mash-up of calisthenics, free weights, plyometric, and an other of equipment for a variety of exercises in each session.
Deep Water Workout
Indoor Cycling Your instructor will simulate a group ride as you travel on flat roads, climb hills, chase the pack, or race to the finish line! All levels welcome.
This class is the advanced more intense version of the Rusty Hinges class. Class includes range of movement exercises, low and high impact movements, intensity intervals, and strength training. Keep your body moving and healthy!

Non-stop, total body strength training with some HIIT cardio intervals thrown into the mix. This class will help you get that strong, lean, healthier, and more powerful body you’re working for.
Vinyasa 1 An all levels “Cardio” yoga that focuses on breath with movement. Strength and flexibility, focus, and deep stretching for the health body, mind and spirit.
Because this class is done in the deep water, zero impact is experienced by the joints. I good workout for people with joint pain. Intermediate and advanced levels. No swimming experience is needed, a float belt may be worn.
Joints in Motion
This water exercise class is for any age male or female that experiences mobility issues such as arthritis, MS, or injuries. The low impact movements and range of motion exercises will keep your body healthy and your joints moving.

Enjoy a refreshing workout as you tone and strengthen muscles and increase flexibility. This shallow water class enables you to exercise with less strain and impact on joints.

Techniques will be taught to help orient their children to the water and to supervise water activities in a safe manner. These classes involve both parent and child in the water. YMCA Swim Lessons
The Albert Lea Family Y’s curriculum offers different skill levels that emphasizes stroke mechanics, water games, personal safety, rescue skills and stamina. Please see the Y swim lessons flyer to see how the Y levels compare to Red Cross levels and to find out which level best suits your swimmer. Levels with fewer than two swimmers may be cancelled or combined with a group one level above or below.

Private swim lessons allow you to work at your own pace with an instructor. Learn to swim for the first time or perfect certain strokes. Schedule your classes around your schedule. Contact the Y for scheduling information. Participants must fill out a registration form. One 30-minute lesson Members: $15 Non-Members: $20 Six 30-minute lessons Members: $75 Non-Members: $95 Six 30-minute lessons 2nd family member: Members: $32 Non-Members: $52
Red Cross Lifeguarding
For ages 15 and older. Red Cross Lifeguarding is a national certificate that is recognized by many organizations. Those who successfully complete this course will receive certification in life guarding, first aid and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer. Prerequisites include a minimum age of 15 and strong swimming ability. For more information, contact Cassie Nelson.

Safety Around the Water
The Albert Lea Family Y will offer a safety around the water class for any youth in Freeborn County. The class will be free and is a series of two 1 1/2 hour lessons. Lessons take place after school on Monday & Wednesday 3:30-5pm. Sign-ups will take place after school begins. This is open to youth in kindergarten through 7th grade. Classes ongoing through April 2020.

Pool Classification
Lap Swim: Open to all ages for the purpose of swimming laps. Open/Lap: Two Lane max. will be set up for lap swimming. Open Swim: All ages open to free swim. Children under age 8 must have a responsible person in pool with them. No lap lanes will be in pool for open swim. Pool closed on dates when there is a swim meet.
