In his second career, he heads the Illinois Consortium’s pro bono work with schools and districts making systemic changes to create a deeper learning agenda, advises the Partnership for 21st Century Skills as a senior fellow, edits the partnership’s Connecting the 21st Century Dots blogazine, and continues his writing career with a focus on the how-to elements of 21st century skills and deeper learning. James holds a master’s degree in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
