A new set of classes, a different schedule. . . . When you think about the weeks ahead, you might feel like you’re standing at the bottom of a mountain. You look up and see the mountain top—the end of these classes—but it seems so far away. I’m just getting started, you think. How will I ever make it to the top? There’s good news for you in Reconnecting Youth. Just by joining the group, you’re already on your way to the top. That’s because you’re already an expert on one of Reconnecting Youth’s main subjects: you. No one knows better than you do

what you like and dislike about yourself; what makes you angry, sad, or happy; where you’ve been; what you’re struggling with now; and what you want to become in the future.
And that’s where Reconnecting Youth starts—with you right now. Reconnecting Youth will show you ways to take control of your life and overcome the obstacles you face. You’ll take control of your journey by using the Reconnecting Youth strategies that work for you. You can raise your grades. You can improve your drug-use control. You can get along better with your teachers. And you can improve the way you feel about yourself. Joining the Reconnecting Youth group is a step toward a better future. The next step you take is up to you.
