PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

A Word from the President

Dear Members,

My greetings to all of you!

I am honoured to have served as the 55th President of Madras Management Association (MMA) for 2022-23. I am grateful for the opportunity given to me by the MMA members. On behalf of the Managing Committee, I present to you the 67th Annual Report and Audited Statement of Accounts for the year ending March 31 2023.

India is now perceived to be the “Gateway for Tomorrow’s world”. We are in a decisive decade where we need to continue to build:

Physical Infrastructure at Hyperscale along with NextGen Digital Infrastructure, opening up huge job opportunities Sustainable India – 100% ESG focus can expedite progress with every stakeholder onboard. India’s unicorns and decacorns which can spur Innovative India

With developed countries facing challenges of recessions and impact of climate change, it is seeing the return of traditional risks - Inflation, Trade Wars, Social Unrest, Geo-political conflicts along with newer risks associated with widespread cybersecurity issues, likely increasing digital inequality with GenAI as well as polycrisis (as termed by WEF – where disparate crisis interact creating larger impact to the world.)

However, we can see a future full of opportunities be it in Critical Technologies related to 5G, AI, Quantum, Blockchain, Genomics and rare minerals, which can also enable equity and sustainability opportunities.

International Monetary Fund (IMF) and global rating agencies predict India’s average growth to exceed 6% over the next five years. Tamil Nadu’s pursuit of a billion-dollar GDP bodes well for industrial growth.

Measuring MMA’s success, it has ticked all the right boxes during the year as evidenced by:

Sticking to the Mission of propagating management movement and fostering managerial excellence

Delighting corporate and individual members through events for their futureproofing and networking (Enabled through new initiatives such as Read to Grow, How was it made series, Increasing Book launches by reputed authors, Memorial Lecture--RK Swamy, Thirukkural for Today’s Management lessons--A glocal (globallocal) mindset and all for the long haul...)

Happy Awardees based on stringent selection norms be it awards for Managerial Excellence for Corporates or the Awards for Young Managers and Women; and Best Management Student (Chanakya Master Mind)

Consistent in-person audience with increasing online audience and importantly inclusive of audience from across the spectrum of company sizes and sectors. Increasing patronage by corporates.

Happy High Performing Secretariat artfully managed by the Executive Director

Passionate and Committed Management Committee Members

Encouraging Innovation--Chinni Krishnan Innovation Award

MMA’s body of work has been a guiding compass for Corporates and considering the evolving landscape, MMA will continue to educate managers to build Winning Corporates with the required attributes demonstrating the following:

Supply Chain Resilience

Sustainability Progress

CyberSecurity Assurance

Emerging Tech Adoption

Corporate Governance

I am proud to share that MMA has been awarded the prestigious “BestManagement Association in India” for the 13th consecutive year, for the year 2021-22. This achievement showcases our determination to excel despite challenges. It gives me great pleasure to highlight some of the initiatives undertaken during the year.

MMA-KAS Partnership

MMA has been privileged to collaborate with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) from Germany since 1989 to promote Entrepreneurship Development. This long-standing partnership aims to equip SMEs with the knowledge and skills necessary for business success. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to KAS, especially Dr Adrian Haack for his unwavering support to MMA.

MMA CSR initiative

I am pleased to share that our CSR initiative, in collaboration with ACSYS Investments, A.S. Trust, and Super Auto Forge, has garnered excellent feedback from schools, students, and parents. The skill development activities conducted under this initiative have been extended to eight schools, benefiting a significant number of students. We reached out to 7068 students and logged 98052 of impact hours. This accomplishment fills us with immense pride, and we believe that this initiative has the potential to make a profound difference in the lives of government-aided school students in the years to come.

None of this would have been possible without the generous support of our donors.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Mr V Shankar, Director, ACSYS Investments, As Trust and Mr S Seetharaman, Chairman, Super Auto Forge, for their valuable contributions. We are confident that with the continued support of more donors, this initiative will become a true game-changer for government–aided school students.
