Swedish is the official language of the university hospitals; however, it is not a requirement for the elective. While patient interaction may be conducted in Swedish, assistance will be provided to aid communication. English will be used to communicate with department staff and supervisors. The Swedish Institute offers a free online course on the language, which might be good to go over before commencing your placement.
