Children’s Garden The Children’s Garden is the place for kids to grow to learn and learn to grow all summer long. From planting to harvest, pairs of gardeners share the responsibility and bounty of a kid-sized plot of vegetables and flowers. Week by week they explore the subtle and sudden changes taking place and celebrate the bees and butterflies, investigate the soil, bask in the sun, play with water, dig for earthworms, tend plants, taste weeds, and marvel at stink bugs, sow bugs and other special guests.
All kid gardeners and their families are invited to the Children’s Garden Graduation Celebration on Wednesday, August 12, 6 – 8 p.m. MIGHTY MITES FOR ENTERING KINDERGARTEN – 1ST GRADE GRADS Wednesday Series (971-05-09-15) Planting Saturdays: May 9 & 30, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Summer Wednesdays: June 17, 24 July 8, 15, 22, 29, August 5, 12, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. OR Monday Series (971-05-16-15) Planting Saturdays: May 16 & June 6, 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Summer Mondays: June 15, 22, July 6, 13, 20, 27, August 3, 10, 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.

A great introduction to day camp: meet new friends, explore the Arboretum, look for tadpoles, and play in the mud. Discover the magical fairies that protect our plants, and use bits of nature, imagination, and engineering to build them a special gift in the woods. Each day will include a short circle time, a snack, a planting project, a themed activity or two, and time for nature play. Make a suncatcher, a fairy garden and other plantings to take home.
Limit 16, Learning Center $86 members/$95 non-members, includes Arboretum admission, snacks and any project supplies. What’s a flower’s job? How do butterflies, bees, and birds help out? Discover pollination up close and hands on as we collect caterpillars, play games, make a take-home butterfly garden, and more. Each day will include a short circle time, a snack, a planting project, and an adventure or two.

It’s harvest time in the garden. Investigate the insides of fruits and vegetables, explode open seeds, and make ketchup with your feet. Prepare delicious garden snacks and take home some beauty of the garden. Each day will include a short circle time, a snack, a planting project, and an adventure or two. On the final day of camp we are going to dig in and play in the mud, in the thoroughly messy way that makes kids cheer and parents cringe.
