. Grow. Restore. CHILDREN’S GARDEN The Children’s Garden is THE place for hands-on discovery, creativity, growing adventures, and nature fun. It’s a place where kids get to taste their accomplishments, use their imaginations, and build friendships while tending a kid-sized plot of flowers and vegetables throughout the summer. All participants are invited to an evening garden celebration on Wednesday, August 15, 6-8 p.m. Fee includes snack, project supplies, Children’s Garden t-shirt, and cookbook. MIGHTY MITES 1 (FOR ENTERING K-1ST GRADE GRADS) (971-05-05-12) Planting Saturdays: May 5 and 19 Summer Wednesdays: June 13, 20, 27, July 11, 18, 25, August 1, 8; 2-3:30 p.m. $130 member/$145 non-member, Limit 16, Marion Andrus Learning Center Mighty Mites will get our hands in the dirt this summer as we explore sprouting seeds, making mud, and catching bugs. Each Mite will work with a garden partner as we plant, weed, water, and investigate different weekly themes in the garden. Join us as we have hands-on garden fun this summer!

The Green Play Yard and other engaging areas of the Arboretum offer us the opportunity to explore a different aspect of outdoor play each week. SUMMER DAY CAMPS Summer Day Camps Are Bringing Plants To Life. . .

DAY CAMPS

IN THE KITCHEN: Make fresh-from-the-garden into totally delicious! Hands-on time with a chef to build skills and a love of cooking. Develop adventurous taste buds! Experiment with avor and texture like a true chef or food scientist. New! An in-depth look at Chocolate. From cooking and tasting to the science and history of a plant that changed the world. Options for both families and kids-only.

IN THE DIRT: Chances to get dirty and play in the mud. (And then get washed clean before going home!) Kids get a big dose of Vitamin N (for Nature) while they squish, squash, plop and glop in our dirt, mud and sand play areas. All part of our Dirt-O-Rama summer!

IN THE GARDENS: Hike, explore, imagine, and discover. Bring science concepts to life by catching tadpoles, pollinating owers, and more! Use the sun to tell the time and water to study gravity. Find tiny fairy hiding spots or get lost in the giant maze. Use your muscles and senses to appreciate this incredible world!

THROUGH ART: Learn to SEE the natural world, both from a distance and close-up. Practice using pencils, paints, clay, cameras, wood, and bits of nature to share your creative vision. Have FUN while nurturing life-long healthy stress-relief skills.

GUIDED ADVENTURES Guided Adventures are perfect for daycare, scout, summer school or neighborhood groups wanting extra hands-on fun during an Arboretum visit. Each Guided Adventure lasts one hour, and can accommodate groups of 10-50 children. There are two program themes to choose from, one for ages 3-5 and the other for ages 6-12.
