How do collegers style up; what kind of clothes do they prefer; which pieces do they have in their wardrobes? We’ve talked about colleger style with Modanisa Advisory Committee member Sena Çolakoğlu, who just graduated from University. Modanisa has a “Advisory Committee” that includes people from different occupations; opinion leaders, well-known modest fashion designers, scholars, business women and one of these members is a University student, Sena Çakaloğlu. She’s recently graduated from Marmara University Atatürk Faculty of Education.

hat is the most “In” campus looks nowadays? Because of all that lessons, homeworks, presentations, projects and scoial activities, what we need the most is comfort, looking and feeling great. That’s why, I can say that sporty-chic is “In”. As a university student, you must have some opinions and observations on collegers who prefers modest style... Can you share your insight with us; how do they dress up? What exactly is their style? In a college environment, especially amongst modest collegers, you can observe people in different styles who mix up various styles and change their looks frequently. But in general, comfort is always in the foreground. Do modest university students style up different than their mothers? What is the difference between their styles? I don’t see a difference in terms of color preferences. Both moms and daughters love pastel colors, brown tones and black. I think,

age is not a changing factor for style anymore. Now, moms do prefer the same styles with their daughters: comfy sneakers, jeans, cotton shawls... Moms and daughters can easily use the same wardrobe. I think, there are no differences in terms of style between moms and daughters. Do modest collegers face difficulties and limitations because of their clothing preferences? No, fortunately I have never heard or witnessed such cruelty. Universities let people in different cultures, nations, religions and beliefs exist and stand in the same place. Nothing should affect our education life, including our style. What are the must-have styles for a colleger? Definitely comfy jeans and sweatshirts. I also suggest them to have their own capsule wardrobes. Timeless pieces for every look will certainly make their life easier. Can you describe your colleger wardrobe to us? Which styles did you use the most for your campus look? I usually prefer pieces that will work with different styles. I don’t add stuff to my wardrobe just because they are “In”, I need to feel comfortable in them. Backpacks are essential for my campus look. I love how functional they are. It easy to find a backpack for any style. What do you suggest to the young collegers who give importance to their looks? Firstly, they should know themselves and decide what do they like and don’t like. Right now, there are many social media influencers they want to imitate. Of course, they can be affected by those influencers but imitating them would be a waste of time. They should create a wardrobe with the best pieces that reflect their personality and their style. How to overcome stress using breathing exercises Stress is a biological and psychological process that affects our mind and body. It has become a social fact that influences our lives negatively and we’re always looking for alternative ways to fight against it.
I
f you become aware of the facts that put you in stress, you can find ways to get away from these thoughts and conditions. I want to share a breathing exercise with you for overcoming stress:
• First of all, make yourself comfortable and sit down. • Close your eyes. • Breathe in, breathe out slowly and discover the tense points on your body during this process. While breathing, try to relieve these tense points and relax. • Once you feel completely relaxed, exhale. This way, we can make a better start with a comfortable and deep breath. • Take a deep breath, think about positive things that makes you feel happy and relaxed. Let love, happiness, serenity and compassion flow through your body and mind. • Exhale and send away everything that makes you feel negative. • Breathe in, breathe out slowly and repeat this flow everytime you breathe. There are no limits for this exercise, keep repeating this flow till you feel comfortable and relaxed. You may lose your focus or feel like it doesn’t work at the first try, but in time you’ll be able to do it properly and feel more relaxed and comfy. NOVEMBER-DECEMBER 2019 •
