For many Australians, the choice between living in the bustling city or in the quiet suburbs is not up for debate. Although many actually find living in a slow-paced and tranquil suburban neighbourhood quite appealing, they prefer living within the big cities simply for convenience sake. One of the main advantages of city living over the suburbs is how short the distance is to travel from home to work. Almost all offices are located in the city, and people living in the outlying areas need to travel farther just to get to work. Additionally, the cost of going to and from the city can rack up whether they are commuting or have their own car. This comes with its own share of disadvantages though. The fast-paced lifestyle of big city living can be stressful and living spaces are actually small. Most will have to deal with living in apartments, which can be difficult for some – especially growing families with children. As the cities are becoming more crowded, many are turning to the suburbs for a change of scenery.

Suburbs in the Heart of the City Most suburbs are actually within the reaches of the city, which means that many can now experience a more slow-paced and easy-going lifestyle whilst still within reach of the big city’s conveniences. These inner city suburbs focus on wide green spaces and a quieter atmosphere, blending nature with modern conveniences. Apart from being close to commercial establishments and offices, these inner city suburbs are better for growing families with children. Most of these inner city suburbs act like gated communities, which means that it is actually safer compared to living in an apartment complex or a condominium. Many of the larger suburbs also have their own schools that are easier to travel to than the ones found within the big city. Suburban neighbourhoods within the inner city brings the best of both worlds an ideal location within the reaches of the city’s modern conveniences while at a respectable distance where people can enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle.
