Cover Girl Alena Gavrilyuk

(Russia)

Can you tell us a little about you? Hey! Im Alena and I’m 25 years old. Here is my story:) I’m just an usual girl from small town in the mountains in Russia. My dad is a welder and mom is a teacher. I was dreaming about model carrier since I was 5 y.o. but in my hometown this dream was to far away for be true. I understood it clearly and decided to move to big city. I pass all schools exam to high mark and got education grand from government for free. I moved to Saint-Petersburg (the most beautiful city in Russia) and started to study International economic. It seemed so boring to me so I never worked by my degree. I started to do modeling and it was my lucky chance. For now I have been almost in 25 countries! I worked hard for 5 years in Fashion Weeks all around the world and now got tired little bit, saved money and moved to Bali. If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? I would love don’t have fears. Sometimes I feel like I’m worry to much about things which doesn’t really matter. How did you start modeling? I always loved to make photos but modeling happened with me unexpectedly. I was noted by vietnamese designer on the beach in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Lazy day, just chilling on the beach with coconut... She came and ask me if I do modeling. I said not. At that moment I was living with my ex in Vietnam for half year and didn’t have any job. The designer asked me if I can do favor for her and be face of her brand. I had zero experience but huge desire and promised her to be in photo studio next morning. She felt in love with photos and told about me to her friends. Everybody wanted to hire me after this shoot...I started to work like a model full time. In Vietnam Fashion week European model agency from Malta noticed me and I singed up my first model contract to Shanghai. What do you think of the work as a model? Model work...it’s complicated. It’s just look super easy to do but for sure it’s not the truth. We work surround beauty and we put all our energy and soul to it. The main point - to be passion with you job. Because if you passion you are don’t care about 10 hours on hills or something like this. You just play a role and do your best. What is your beauty regimen? I’m vegan, don’t smoke, don’t drink any alcohol and sleep not less then 8 hours. Sport, yoga, meditation also important to me. What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? I’m so flexible. I know how to communicate with people. I can find a way to speak with everybody. And the most important things for me - it’s keep harmony inside and out. What are your plans for the future? Now I’m working for my own project. I have a production company with my friend. We organize photo and video shootings for foreign brands in Bali. I plan to put my project to the level up, get married, have big family and continue to do what I’m doing now. And open a boutique with elegant dresses :) -4-

Issue 53 - November 2019 - Modellenland Magazine

What are some of your favorite experiences so far? I adore my shootings in Bali. Really nice one! The most beautiful shoot I had 2 years ago for Australian brand of swim suits. We had shoot in black sand beach, with amazing rocks and ocean view. Those photos are still my favorite. Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling? I can give a small advices for any one who can become a model: first of all, don’t compare yourself with somebody else. All of us different and it’s awesome! Don’t copy a style. Make our own! At second, don’t go by sneaky way. Model - it’s model. Not party girl, not beautiful lady who has dinner with a rich man who pay her for that. Don’t mix it. At third, look at you objectively . If you are 155 sm tall or really hard shape keeper, probably you will find yourself in different area? What do you think of the magazine? I think it’s amazing! You let a lot of models speak, not just looking good. Thank you for let us share with you some amazing moments and fears, it’s important! I wish your magazine have all best and good luck with any new upcoming projects! https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100006808026403 -6-

Photographer Giovanni Aristodemo (Italy) Can you tell us a little about you? I am an Italian photographer, based in Catania, on the east coast of the island of Sicily. I began my artistic journey as an abstract painter, but I soon developed a preference for street, still life, glamour portrait and nude art photography. At present I work as a freelance photographer, and my work has been recently recognised by receiving some photography awards on the net and one of my portraits was selected for a well-known exhibition in Paris. How and when did you get into photography? I approached to photography quite by chance, when I bought my first Nikon on the occasion of a trip, but in a very short time I fell in love with this amazing medium of expression. What does photography mean to you? Photography helps me to express my personal point of view on things and the world, and it gives me the opportunity to create an emotional and temporal database of my experience. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. My photography style is very intimist, I try to make personal every place I visit and each moment I live in order to filter it by means of the photography language. Where do you get inspiration from? Actually, there is not a specific subject inspiring me. I photograph everything that gives me emotions and that I want to remember. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Yes, I often have already in my mind what I want to realize, it’s an automatic process, as soon as I look at reality, I instantly imagine it as I would like it to be. That’s why a carefully plan and organize my projects. Studio, on location or both? I shoot on location, in studio and in a light box for still life photography. What has been your most memorable session and why? I was a session of fantasy portraits in which I realized some shoots a bit outside the box, almost surreal. - 20 -

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I am a pro photographer Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I use a Nikon d750 with 50mm lens for portraits, 105mm for still life, and 30-70mm for street photography.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? I advise to study, study and study. To do research, to experiment, to photograph by using all means available, trying to build your own style. What do you think of our new magazine? I like new Modellenland Magazine very much, because in addition to containing very beautiful pictures, it gives the chance to know the creators of the photography, their way of working and the artistic dynamic. Photographer Romano Loris

(France)

Model: @always_noir mua: @always_noir Issue 53 - November 2019 - Modellenland Magazine

Photographer Iwona Aleksandrowicz (Poland) Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Iwona Aleksandrowicz and I come from Poland. I am a German philologist with a background in sworn translations and an advertising manager. How and when did you get into photography? It is complicated! Before World War II, my grandfather had a photo studio in a small town in the Eastern Borderlands. So photography was still present in the background of my childhood. My grandfather died before my birth, but I often looked at his photographs. When I was maybe 13 years old I got a Zenith 35mm camera from my uncle. For about a year, maybe two, I was taking photos of my friends and developing them in the tiny bathroom of our flat. Then I gave up photography completely for many years. The second time photography found me was when I had my kids, I also had cute dogs and I wanted to capture them all the time. After some time, my own kids and dogs stopped being enough for me. Anyway, the children already had enough of me... I started photographing the kids of my friends, then the strangers. And so it went further, un-til this day; I cannot stop. What does photography mean to you? This is always a very difficult question. All photographers can basically answer the same: air, life, addiction. I do not like repeating clichĂŠs. I would like to say something wise, something different, but it's true. For me, photography is selfexpression. Self manifestation. Creation. I adore the whole process of traditional photography: shooting photos without knowing the results at sight, developing in a traditional dark room and eventually printing them in old techniques. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. Since 2013 I photograph only with analog cameras, medium and large format. Since 2014 I am fascinated with the instant film photography. I would say, my style is a classic fine art. There used to be a lot of magic and fantasy in my photography. Today I am inclining to minimalism more and more often. - 52 -

Where do you get inspiration from? From the surrounding world, music, movies, novels. Every-thing can inspire me at any time. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? It depends. Sometimes I plan the session carefully. I write out individual shots. Other times, I will suddenly be inspired by a piece of the land-scape and take photographs spontaneously in this place. Studio, on location or both? On location. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I am a hobbyist.

Model: Sandra Plajzer Mua: Blanka Smolarek Style: Iwona Aleksandrowicz

What has been your most memorable session and why? My most memorable session is the shooting for the project “Native Stranger. This project was very difficult. Draining temporarily, physically and mentally In addition, it had to be completed in a relatively short time, 3 months including the exhibition. But at the same time it brought me a lot of satisfaction. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Neither. Large format camera Graflex Speed Graphic and the Kodak Aero Ektar 178 mm lens. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? Be yourself. Do not copy others. What do you think of our new magazine? Absolutely amazing! I saw many interesting photos and interviews there. It could be inspiring for the beginner and for expierienced photographer. Many friends of mine photographer and models had published in Modelland.

Photographer Elisa Bonafè

(Italy)

Can you tell us a little about you? I’m an Italian girl of 29 years old and I’m a beauty and fashion photographer. But in my life I’ve followed many different paths: I’m a physician (which is currently my main work) and a metal singer. How and when did you get into photography? My love about this complex art is a long story. My work as a photographer started after several years as a glamour and conceptual photomodel. I was really bored about glamour pictures, but completely in love with pictures telling a story. Most of my favourite photographers and friends was happy to realize some of my projects, and this was my very first approach in thinking about the realization of a story through images. During this period of my life (three/ four years long), in some way I developed my photography tastes along with a strong interest in creative photography, first about portraiture photography, and later mainly focused on beauty & fashion images. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. In all my works it's fundamental the choice of the model and to have the cooperation of a great stylist & makeup artist: we cooperate to reach the visual representation we have in our minds. My creative team is always full of joy because we love working together creating something new and unique. I love colors and all my images are full of details: I often work on beauty photography because in this field I try to reach perfect images, searching for real beauty in all its forms. Where do you get inspiration from? All my projects start with an idea I have in mind, taken from everything inspires me: a novel, an image, a film, a story.. which I freely transform since I've created a complete moodboard. I don't have to spend my time in search for ideas: they come to me when I'm doing other things, often I wake up in the midnight with an idea about a project I was thinking around. I love to create by my hands pieces for my photosets, and all of them don't require a lot of money.. often it's impossible to find the objects I need, so I have no choice than searching for the materials and realizing them directly. - 62 -

Model: Clara C. Makeup & hair: Sara De Blasi What does photography mean to you? As someone said, photography is not a vocation, it’s an obsession. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Sure, mainly because I have to think about a lot of details which is fundamental to be prepared on time. I like to think about all the art direction of the photoset. Studio, on location or both? I love working in my studio, because I use a lot strobe lights and I’m really confident in how to use them to reach a specific result. In some way, studio work is a little more “controlled” than location shoots. Obviously location photosets could have many different things that it’s almost im-possible to recreate in a studio.

Model: Giorgia M. Makeup & hair: Sara De Blasi What has been your most memorable session and why? I have beautiful and strong memories of many different sessions, almost everyone full of laughs and great people. The most recent I have in mind has been a crazy day shooting in a marble cave, and the most incredible thing is that my team every time follows my ideas finishing in dangerous situations. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Nikon D810 for commercial jobs, fashion & beauty, with Sigma 35 mm and 105 mm. For portraits I prefer to use my old Nikon D700 with a super simple Nikkor 50 mm lens. I think that the most important thing is to use your equipment at his very best, before buying something different. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? I think that photography is such a large topic to deal with. For this reason, a new photographer has to take in mind that is impossible to know everything, and that is fundamental to keep studying forever and ever. There’s always something new to learn about lights, editing, composition, and about the market itself. What do you think of our new magazine? I think is really great to find a place where so many talented artists are showcased. It’s wonderful to have the chance to read different stories and points of view, together with stunning images. http://www.elisabonafe.com Issue 53 - November 2019 - Modellenland Magazine

Model Magdalena Nieprosta

(Poland)

Can you tell us a little about you? Hi, I'm Magda, I'm from Poland - I live near Krakow. In everyday life I am an interior decorator, and I run a paint shop. I devote my free time to art I love photography, theater, painting and good music. If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? I would love to hug a few centimeters up. I am a small fairy and it is really cute when everybody have been asking me for proof in the shop for several years when I want to buy wine ;-) How did you start modeling? I have always felt that this is my way. I have been involved in various artistic projects since I was a child, but thanks to my sister and friend I am here. They are both great artists, they saw the potential in me and took the first pictures. I have been in the industry since I was 16 years old, so proud and happy of that and I cannot imagine my life without photography. What do you think of the work as a model? I think it's a beautiful adventure and distinction. But also hard and unpredictable work. You need to have a lot of perseverance and put all your heart and energy into it. This is a real rollercoaster! I am very grateful for every opportunity to participate in sessions and music videos. I meet wonderful people who are a great inspiration to me and the effects are amazing. What is your beauty regimen? It's good to sleep well. My secret to beauty is a relaxing bath with olive oil in the evening. I eat a lot of fruit and dairy products and lead an active lifestyle. I also attach a very important role to good mental condition - meditation and reading books are good for the development of consciousness. What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? I really don't like rudeness and anger. Lies are also not welcome. I also do not support aggression and violence. However, I can get along with most people - positive vibes only :) What are your plans for the future? In the near future I would love to travel and learn new things. Photographer Krzysztof Zapolski

(Poland)

Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Chris and since I’m not sure what I do I say it’s an art. How and when did you get into photography? That’s actually a funny story, because photography was never my cup of tea. I was all into sports but after a hip injury I had to quit sports and found myself with big hole in my life. My wife always joked that during holidays I take crooked photos, so she gave me her camera and said “Make use of your free time, maybe You’ll learn to take straight photos”. So I took the camera and was hooked completely. It was an instant love. What does photography mean to you? I’ve been a designer for 15 years and usually the things you do for a living (even the creative ones) aren’t the things that give you goose bumps. So I keep photography as my “creative backyard” where I can do what I want the way I want. I always keep in mind that every day millions of photos are taken and published on the internet, so I’m no special snowflake and my pictures have no deeper meaning. But they give me fun - and that’s fine by me Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I joke that I took the camera to learn to take straight photos, but never did.I like weird points of view, wide angles, crooked framing, unnatural poses. Friends say that they can recognize my photos without reading who’s the author and i take it as a big compliment. But I can’t say that I have one style and I’m “the guy that shoots this in that particular style”.My portfolio is full of completely different images since depending on the mood I can take some weird fashion shots, the other day it can be a delicate portrait or some kinky nude. I just do what I want. Where do you get inspiration from? In my first year I was heavily inspired by Peter Lindbergh and did a lot of street lifestyle/potrtraiture. Then I moved to more weird stuff and now I’m inspired mostly by fashion magazines. I don’t follow who’s popular and what’s trendy on the internet. Just do my own thing. - 82 -

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? There’s a saying “do the thing you love and you won’t work a second of your life” but I disagree with it. There’s this myth of artist-freelancer doing only the quality work. but from my experience, when You do something for a living, have a family and mortgage to pay, you’re often forced to do the things that make you cringe, but put the food on the table and keep the bank at bay. So I’m hobbyist by choice. I have a regular job that gives me decent money, but not so decent amout of creative fullfilment, so I keep photography as my creative sandbox. That way every photoshoot is special to me and I’m excited each time I take the camera.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture ? Definitely. I come to the shoot with drawings of the poses I want to shoot (simple matchstick drawings just to sell the idea). I prepare moodboards for the models and scout locations if shoot is going to be outdoors. Oftentimes I buy clothes in second-hand shops. One of the models I work with calls me “German car assembly line” and that’s sums me up pretty accurately ;) Studio, on location or both? I like the controlled environment of the studio, the comfort it gives - especially when doing stylized or nude fashion. But I don’t shy away from location. Especially when it’s a good one and I have an opportunity to scout it beforehand. In the end it all depends on the style of the photos I’m after. What has been your most memorable session and why? Most memorable one was also the biggest eyeopener. I was doing the shoot with the model I worked more than ten times before, but we couldn’t get the right shot, there was something wrong, but we couldn’t name what. Then our stylist said “give me a minute”,came back with 2 metres of wire, tangled it into shapeless form, attached it to the model’s head and that was it. That moment showed me that you can do great shot with pretty much anything, there’s no such thing as “stupid idea” and actually, the more stupid it gets, the more you have to do it. You have to be open minded and not afraid of failing. After all - it’s not a heart surgery and no patient will die if it turns out, that idea was actually stupid. But you have to give it a shot Paulina Witkowska

Marta Ulatowska

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? To me camera is just a camera. I use various brands, analog and digital - and none of them is better than the other. Camera is just a tool. The real picture-taking device is photographer’s eye and his/her sensitivity. Without it You can shoot large format or Phase One and i will be worthless. When it comes to lenses, if I had to pick only one lens for the rest of my life it would be planar 50 1.7. It’s razor sharp and has quite a character. Maybe a bit conservative focal-length wise, but if it had to be only one, it would be fifty. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? As a hobbyist I’m not the person to give any business-related advices, but for me a good rule thumb is doing your own thing. Not trying to be like someone who’s popular at the time, not trying to mimic someone’s style. There are millions of photographers in the world and either you stand out or get lost in the crowd - and the best way to stand out is to do your thing the way you want it to be. What do you think of our new magazine? Doing a good job https://www.facebook.com/KrzysztofZapolski - 84 -

Photographer Łukasz Liszko

(Poland)

Can you tell us a little about you? Hi everyone! My name’s Łukasz Liszko. I live in Poland and I’m a photographer and graphic designer. I absolutely love reading and collecting novels and artbooks. I’m keen on traveling and I’m a big fan of fantasy and sci-fi. How and when did you get into photography? My experience with photography started about 7 years ago. As a graphic designer (mainly 3D graphics), I looked for opportunities to create illustrations and I made many of them, however, there was always one thing missing… I mean characters. I was never able to create characters because all the time I just worked on locations and objects and that was something that I was best at. Therefore, I came up with an idea to take up photography and combine it with my artworks. That’s how something I call “CGI Photoshoots” was made. What does photography mean to you? Photography is just another way to express myself and present my artistic visions to others. It makes it possible for me to create works that I couldn’t make using 3D graphic on its own. Besides, it gave me a lot of opportunities to meet new people and I can tell you that each person I meet can be inspirational. That way I feel I’m still developing and getting better. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I love using color filters for lamps. Thanks to them, I give my pictures a unique character. And when I combine that effect with post production, I can get a result similar to that of movie scenes, which I love. The color is very important in that case. Anyway, I try to use various techniques, just whatever exists out there – I’m flexible. In my works, you can notice some photomanipulation or 3D graphics, for example. That’s how I can achieve the unique character of my works. Cosplayers (from the left): Yami, Mafu, White Fox, Yukeshiro

- 94 -

Where do you get inspiration from? I’m mostly inspired by books, computer games, movies and TV series. You know that I’m fond of fantasy and science-fiction. That’s why, among my latest works, you can see a lot of cosplay photography, which suits my interests very much. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? It depends. When it’s a small project, everything happens on the spot during the photosession. We’re just looking for the best body poses, scenes, light, and I try to do it together with a model. When a project is big and the budget is bigger, then, of course, I always try to think in advance of what I want in the picture, so that we can avoid some unexpected things. Studio, on location or both? Definitely studio. In the studio I can control the light and I can change it the way I want. Also, I very often create some virtual backgrounds and it’s a little bit similiar to using green/blue screen, just like in the movies. That’s why using the studio is the best option and it makes it possible for me to create my own virtual location. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or professional? A hobbyist with an ambition to be a professional. What has been your most memorable session and why? Generally, I can say that each session was unique and one-of-a-kind, however, I think the most memorable was the “photo marathon” during Pyrkon event where I did 27 cosplay sessions during 3 days. I met a lot of fantastic people and I had to leave my comfort zone and work in the field, not in the studio. That was “a little bit” exhausting but definitely worth it! Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Nikon. I’ve always used it and I’m not going to change it, I guess. Regarding the lens, I prefer 35mm. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start? I’m still trying to work on my own stuff full-time and quit nine-to-five job, therefore, I have a piece of advice for people who want the same. Keep on working and never give up. Don’t worry about failures and don’t let them drag you down. Each failure can become your strength. Of course, it won’t happen in one day. You just need time. Anyway, if you keep on working really hard, you can make all your dreams come true.

Model: Ashi Monster What do you think of our new magazine? I’m real-ly impressed. It’s a great place to present yourself to bigger audience and meet a lot of great and gifted people.

Photographer Sławomir Napierała (Poland) Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Sławomir Napierała, I come from Poland, I have been taking photographs for 10 years. How and when did you get into photography? I was interested in photography as a teenager. However, I was more professional about it only a dozen years later. I regret that it was so late in my life. What does photography mean to you? For me, photography is an artistic fulfillment of myself. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. My style? I try to show women in a very sensual way, sometimes a little provocative, but with a good taste. Where do you get inspiration from? Every day I browse through hundreds of photos on different portals. I have my favorite creators, whose photos I observe whenever they have something new. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Yes, I have a ready-made idea for each session, but it is only during the work that we work out the details. Sometimes the place forces us to change our plans. Especially when we work outdoors. Studio, on location or both? I prefer outdoor activities because there are more opportunities to prove myself, but of course I also work in studios or rented apartments. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I think I'm a more hobby photographer. Of course I do a lot of paid sessions, but I only take orders that I find interesting. So it happens that I refuse. So I do only what I like. :) What has been your most memorable session and why? Session for the Cancer Foundation. It was a difficult session for me and for the models. I think I remember this session the most and I am very proud of it. - 106 -

Natalia Heydrych Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Nikon d800, 8 years old, but I still like him very much. Lens: Tamro 24-70 f2.8, Sigma 35 1.4, Nikkor 50 1.4, Sigma 85 1.4 . That's all. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? View a lot of pictures. Look for an idea for your sessions, do not copy others. What do you think of our new magazine? I'm glad you've spotted me. This is a magazine with a really high level of quality. instagram.com/slawomir.napierala.fotografia/

Photographer Kamil Olejnicki (London, UK) Can you tell us a little about you? Hello, my name is Kamil Olejnicki. I born in Poland, but since 2013 I live in London. I'm 29 years old. I am happy daddy and husband. I am passionate about photography and travel. If you like to see more of my work and regular updates please follow me on Instagram! I update it often with my latest work @olejnickiphoto How and when did you get into photography? I have found myself loving photography for many years ago but I didn’t know that time it will be my best hobby and job. Around 2,5 years ago I bought my first professional camera and at first, I started to do landscape pictures but that was not what I liked so I tried to do portraits. My first model was my wife, to be honest she inspired me to develop my photography skills. I didn’t know how to advertise my work so I decided to create a Facebook and Instagram account. All I wanted was a place to share pictures with other people. What does photography mean to you? Photography to me is catching a moment. It helps us to remember little things, long time after you have forgotten everything. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I focus on portraiture, I shoot marvelous fashion and moody portrait photography. Where do you get inspiration from? I am inspired by the work of 3 photographers: Georgy Chernyadyev, Dani Diamond, Damian Piórko

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? It depends what kind of story I want to tell. Usually I speak at first with my client and ask what kind of session she wants and then we decide on a location and outfit. I also like spontaneous work, especially here in the UK you never know what weather could expect so sometimes you can get pictures you didn’t even think about before session. Studio, on location or both? I prefer outdoor shoot with natural light as I can choose so many different backgrounds which could perfectly match with my model and story which I want to show. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? At the moment I am a part time photographer but, I hope in the future I could be a full time. A few months ago, I have started collaboration with one model agency based in London so I hope it help me to develop my skills and show my work to a wider audience. It is not easy to stand out in this profession if you're completely new, additionally the competition in London is huge. You have to find your way and style to be special. What has been your most memorable session and why? I remember one session which I made in spring 2 years ago on a beautiful beach in Cornwall. I was very stressed because that time I didn’t know much how to compose pictures etc. However, I was lucky because my model was perfect, she had much more experience than me and pictures came out beautiful. All the best Roxana Skorka you doing this well! Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? One year ago I would say Nikon but a few months ago I swap my camera to Fujifilm crop sensor, sounds crazy but I really love it! The colors are amazing and this blurry … Favorites lens is 56mm 1.2 and right now is my only

Photographer Joanna Stołowicz

(Poland)

Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Joanna Stołowicz and I am photographer from Poland. I take pictures of people and food, but I am so inspired by nature that you can see me with my camera (or a phone and taking pics with it) at every ocasion and place. How and when did you get into photography? Not long ago I was working in bank and living corporate life. It all started about three years ago with my cooking channel on You tube and then blog – I had to take pictures of what I cooked. I had Nikon D5300 with kit lens and I tried to somehow portrait my dishes on auto mode. Sooner than later I saw that I am terrible at that and I need help. Because in my hometown (Szczecin) there was nothing food photography related I went for a portrait photography class. And that was the beginning of my journey because I fell in love with it. What does photography mean to you? It means that I am free, I can create, I can show the world how I see things. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I don't know if that's possible to describe it briefly. ;) There are some things that connect my food and portrait photography – I look at frames as a entirety, I notice everything that is in my camera. The most important thing is light and I always look for perfect light or I create one. I also think that you don't have to travel to some distant location to make great pictures, as long as I have light and good mood I will be happy with result. When I photograph people I need to connect with them, I need them to feel good and relaxed and to trust me. The rest of magic happens in Photoshop. ;) When I photograph food in my studio or at a restaurant I am very focused and attention to detail is so important. I am more and more minimalistic in my food and product pictures. I want my pictures to look great in raw files and I don't do much with them in postproduction– small boosting in Lightroom. Studio, on location or both? Both. - 152 -

Mod – Aleks Białkowski Where do you get inspiration from? I see beauty all around and I appreciate it. Nature is my never ending inspiration. I also love cinema and movies and I look at them through the eyes of a photographer.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Sometimes but I am trying not to build expectations and then be dissapointed. I just go with my gut and what I see – many times I looked at someone or something at the right angle and was struck with inspiration and overwhelmed with result. I have goosbumps even when thinking about that. ;)

Mod – Patrycja Puszkarek

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Hobbyist who turned into paid professional. What has been your most memorable session and why? There were many of those momorable ones, but the latest one was with my favourite model and dancer Patrycja Puszkarek at location with Wheel of Szczecin. I knew exactly what I wanted and how the photoshoot will look, I imagined light, colors, motion and I it was like this – as I dreamed and saw in my mind. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Nikon. I use Nikkor and Sigma lens, my favourite ones changes – I love my Sigma 135mm, Nikkor 24-120mm and 60mm Macro lens. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? You have to practice a lot, learn all the time and never give up. What do you think of our new magazine? I like it a lot because I can discover photographers and models and most of all I can look at great pictures. Model Margherita Prokina

(Italy)

Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Margherita Prokina, now I live in Italy, Turin but I’m of Russian origin, to be precise, I’m from Siberia, Novosibirsk. I studied in music college and theater academy. At the same time I was already doing some shooting like a model. So I’m a model for 5 years. Ph: Albert Giordan

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? It would be to have more patience because very often I want everything and immediately when it would be better not to hurry and wait. How did you start modeling? I never thought of being a model, I wanted to be an actress. But 5 years ago one my friend asked me to do a shooting in his studio. And I liked it because for me it was like a small role, like a possibility where I can transmit my emotions and communicate with the spectators. What do you think of the work as a model? I think in reality it’s not so easy like usually people imagine it to be. It's not just just taking pictures, it can be hard work because the conditions, the weather can be different, the positions can be uncomfortable, but you must always be ready even if it is cold or there is a very hot sun. And all this not for an hour but until the photographer makes the beautiful photo that sometimes can continue the whole day. What is your beauty regimen? There are three main things: sleep, healthy eating and sport. I know that getting enough sleep helps me better than any beauty cream. Nutrition also affects beauty and health. And do sport can also cheer you up. What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? I think it's the responsibility. The desire to do the job in the best way, otherwise I prefer not to do it. Another quality is always learn new things, discover new places. What are your plans for the future? I would like to realize a childhood dream e make a movie. And not only like the actress but also as a director. Of course continue to make artistic projects of the photo and do my personal exhibition. What are some of your favorite experiences so far? Because I studied in college music I love to sing. Before I often participated in concerts and now I miss this experience. So sometimes I sing for friends, we do musical evenings. Because I like to communicate with people through music, through art. This is my positive energy charge which is vital to me. What do you think of the magazine? Beauty magazine is always beautiful thing. Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling? If you want to become the model you have to understand that it is a job that seems easy but in reality it is hard. You can go to a model school but you must not forget to always be yourself. Do not copy the girls social network but look at the work of Supermodel. Analyzes their poses, attitude, idea and then apply this for your shooting but remember that you are unique. And maybe this advice will be strange but you have to read good books, watch great films, visit exhibitions. For not to be a beautiful doll but your eyes must transmit your thoughts and ideas then your pictures will attract people's views and should not be forgotten in five minutes. Photographer Jürgen Katzengruber (France) Can you tell us a little about you? Originally from Austria, I live in France since 2002. I made a master degree in fashion design at Vienna’s university for Applied Arts, where designers Vivienne Westwood, Marc Bohan and Helmut Lang were my teachers. After studies I found a job in a viennese theater, working for the wardrobe department, which gave me the interest in costume design for theater. In 2000 I met my partner, a french comedian and theater stage director – we decided to settle in France and create our professional theater company on the french countryside. In 2015 I decided to get back to fashion, realizing my own designs. I founded my company, and since than create handcrafted, unique menswear. Photography is an important part of my work. How and when did you get into photography? This was approximately in 2005, when I got my first camera. Already at this time, I was interested in human expressions, a matter one can find a lot in theater, and I wanted to link this with my first ideas about menswear fashion design – this was a real serious start for me, yet already during my studies in the beginning of the 1990’s, photography was an important matter. What does photography mean to you? In general it means for me to capture the right moment – of a human expression, of an exceptional situation. In my special case, it’s also useful for documenting my clothes and design work. But it also means to get in touch with exceptional people; models are human beings for me, not just hangers – hence you deal with complexity and character, and a simple photography job may become a quite profound psychological affair, which always is of interest.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. Not sure, that I’ve got a style, but I think that I have an eye. Every person I photograph has another character, brings alive other things, which always are unique. Where do you get inspiration from? When I started in 2005, I really liked to find inspiration in ancient paintings, mostly of renaissance or baroque times. The lightning of Caravaggio’s paintings, the opulence of dutch 17th century paintings…films by Peter Greenaway, Derek Jarman, but also by Fellini or Visconti…Nowadays I concentrate more on my clothes, try to find a balance between a good commercial shot and a certain depth and uniqueness due to the character of the model. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Not always. Globally spoken, I try to find a good frame, or think about a set and decoration, but from that point on, once more, the character of the model gives the final picture uniqueness and difference. During a session, I also like to surprise myself with ideas I find accurately, and I also am open for ideas a model may bring in. Also, it’s great fun for me to confront models with my clothes; this may provoque unexpected and vivid reactions. Studio, on location or both? Both! The ligthing makes a big difference! Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Somewhere inbetween. I don’t have the classic apprenticeship as a professional photographer, but as I studied at Applied Arts, photography was and is always somewhere implied! Not sure that “paid” is synonyme for professional work. For me, being professional is more a question of quality, contents and also discipline.

Model: Mika Issue 53 - November 2019 - Modellenland Magazine

What has been your most memorable session and why? I try to see this on an equal level – once more, every person brings it’s special something, which makes every session a unique moment. Some guys may be more talented though than others, bring more energy to the set than others, and than again, every person has something special! It’s just right that what a photographer has to capture. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Sony! What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? Starting your own business always is complicated, at least here in Europe. No matter what kind of business, if you work on your own, you have to be totally convinced of the quality and the uniquness of your work, without being pretentious neither. Beside of this, it’s work, work, work … What do you think of our new magazine? It’s always a good idea to bring together different professions, people, cultures and point of views. This kind of exchange is enriching and may help you for your own development or for getting visible. Hence it’s a po-werful tool you offer us, thank you for this! www.jurgenkatzengruber.com www.facebook.com/jurgen.katzengruber www.instagram.com/jurgenkatzengruber All clothes on the photos are manufactured in my workshop, and are my own designs.

Model Martha Mua Emilie Z Stylist Eva I - 184 -

Photographer Tomasz Stankiewicz (Poland) Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Tomek, I was born in 1969 in Warsaw, where I live and create to the present. A chemist and computer scientist by profession, but I have always been interested in arts and crafts. First, metalwork that turned into a passion for jewelry and now also photography, which occupies the first place in my life How and when did you get into photography? My first adventure with a photo camera started a few years ago as I traveled through far away lands and places on earth, while looking for minerals, precious, and semi-precious gemstones for my jewelry. I was touched by nature’s amazing mineral creations as well as the environments they were found in, stopped in time, their colors, smells, distinct atmosphere, and culture. I wanted to immortalize them. I and my adventures soon gained two four-legged friends of the Alaskan Malamute breed: Princess Soraya and Malakwa Creek Sikko. Watching their behavior and admiring landscapes while taking their walks was a won-derful experience, especially when coupled with the photo camera and taking photos. The magic of photography captured me completely at that time but shortly, my faced another challenge: taking photos to exhibit his art. In mid-2015, I began to seriously think about professional photo-graphy. I took photography classes, gained knowledge from online courses, started scheduling photo sessions, and taking many photos. I currently strives to widen my hori-zons and abilities, continually challenging myself, by always setting and achieving new goals. "Because Lifi is Beautiful" is my motto. What does photography mean to you? Maybe I will be banal but for me the most appealing in photography are those quiet, non-obvious moments in people's lives during sessions, in life, on the run, which sometimes can be captured and stopped. These emotions, passion and desires that can be seen in photography are what I am looking for in photography. Studio, on location or both? I know both types of photography well. The studio suits one session, the open air, urban city or other surroundings. I do not try to choose by force, rather I adapt to the atmosphere of the session8 - 196 -

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. During the session, I try to establish this ephemeral thread of understanding that allows me to create not pictures but pictures that depict history. During the session, I want the photographed people to open and show their emotions and feelings. Where do you get inspiration from? My unsurpassed guru is the recently deceased Peter Lindberg, come also looking for inspiration in fashion trends, among the evening walk in the city and cycling in the countryside. Life is buzzing around us and we can draw inspiration if we are open to what surrounds us. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? I try to plan sessions. How to do it, make a stoyboard, print inspirations and send to the team, but it also often happens during joint meetings and conversations, I grab the camera and do some quick, spontaneous shots, It has its magic :) Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? This is my job, so I try to think of myself as a professional, the more that I charge for its performance, I try to make my work and its results at the highest possible level. What has been your most memorable session and why? The most probably stuck in my head session with my friend who was quite tense before the pictures. We went to the lavender field to take some nice pictures. It wasn't a bit sticky for us, there was no climate. I'm saying we are taking a break. I say, we don't do anything by force, we did a picnic, we opened the wine, we started to eat something and talked well, it all started to spin up and in the end when we started taking pictures again it was about everything I was looking for - joy, feelings, happiness. Yes it was one of the cooler experiences

Model Nure

(France)

Photographer Maarten Quaadvliet (Netherlands) Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Maarten Quaadvliet, 54 years old and I live in Eindhoven. I studied graphic design at the Art Academy in Maastricht. During my work as a graphic designer I was often faced with the importance of well taken photography. During that period I directed several photo shoots and discovered that you can create a completely new world using photography. From that moment my passion for photography grew and I bought my first mirror reflex camera about 12 years ago. I initially started with photographing landscapes, travel photography, people and later models. What I really like is the synergy during the photo shoot. Everyone has their own discipline, with one common goal, ‘creating a beautiful and captivating image’. How and when did you get into photography? I started out photography 12 years ago. This period has been a real discovery for me, to find the right light equipment. At that period, I had no knowledge at all and was being advised by the "experts" from the local photography shop and they advised me to use flashlights. By using these flashlights I was not convinced about the final result and I was often "in a battle" with these lights. The output looked too artificial and too unnatural for me. Due to the enormous power output that light destroyed all the ambient and natural light. After these experiences I discovered that natural light workes the best for me. No limitation in synchronization times and just observing and react in what the light is doing with the subject. However I just missed that little extra light to illuminate the darker shadows and creating highlights on the hair and shoulders. Finally, I discovered fresnelspots to add that extra spark in the photo. Since I was sceptical about the light quality (CRI), I made the decision to buy my first fresnelspot from the brand Lupolux. This purchase was really a relief for me and now I was able to create the images that I had in mind. From that moment I expanded my light sources with professional fresnelspots from ARRI. (L7C and L7D) These fresnelspots provide pretty harsh light. To soften that harsh light, I use reflection screens, diffusers or just the reflection from a white ceiling or wall. The benefit of using these fresnelspots is that I can observe what the light is doing on the subject. This speeds up my learning process.

Kim Poelmans

What is your purpose in photography? My purpose in photography is to capture the expression of the model. Sometimes I talk a lot and explain the model what I have in mind to get the best expression out of her. Regarding the expression I often said: "You don’t see an image, you have to feel an image." So emotions are the most difficult aspect to capture. It depends on the right atmosphere and how the model is able to show her vulnerability. In that case you need some empathetic abilities as well to create a pleasant atmosphere to get the best out of the models expression. What does photography mean to you? Photography means a lot to me! I am a pretty calm person and sometimes a little bit introvert. With photography I am able to tell stories about how I see the world, without using a single word. It's not technology that counts for me, but more the story and the emotional value in a photo that can touch the viewer. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. Over the years I have developed my own style, which is apparently recognized by other people. This distinction has probably been made by my discovery for light and trying to find the right words to get the best out of the models expression. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Absolutely! I create comprehensive moodboards, which covers all the elements in a photo, like the theme, the colors of the styling, the make-up and the hair styling. If I work on location I explore the location on forehand. I check the space in the room and try to figure out how the sun is positioned at a certain time. I prefer no bright sunlight. A room with windows positioned on the north works best for me and provides very flattering light. Creating a pretty comprehensive moodboard has many advantages for me. I experience the photo shoot in advance which reinforces my focus and vision during the shoot. I never consider the possibilities at the location itself. That is really a waste of time for me and the model as well. It’s better to spend that time in creating captivating images. Issue 53 - November 2019 - Modellenland Magazine

Kawita Angelica Where do you get inspiration from? Most of the time I get my inspiration from social media websites like 500px, Instagram, Facebook and sometimes Pinterest. Certain music can inspire and me help me to create images in my mind that I can use in my work. Do you edit your photos and what do you do about it? I edit my photos, but not too much. I always try to capture the best and most flattering photos during the photoshoot. So I don’t have to repair so much in post processing. I work "non-destructive" and have developed my own workflow in which I can adjust the image as often as I want. I do not use "softenings" filters or "frequency separation with a lasso tool”. This affects the characteristics of the model too much in my opnion. I start my editing in Lightroom and adjust the white balance. After that I switch to Photoshop and do some detail adjustments, like retouch, dodge and burn, contrast and finally some color corrections. Studio, on location or both? Location. The atmosphere of the location can have a lot of impact on the image and could give the image a narrative character. What locations or topics do you like the most? In the past I often rented a hotel room which costs a lot of money. This is why I redesigned my home so it can be easily transformed into a hotel room. It saves me a lot of money, so I’m not dependented for a hotel room to be available or not. I only photograph women. Women are very versatile in expressions such as romantic, tough, soft, hard or sporty. In fact the possibilities of women are infinity in my opinion. What or where do you absolutely want to photograph? I really like to go to a luxury apartment, including a swimming pool and a beautiful beach nearby. Due to the lack of time it hasn’t happened yet. - 222 -

Aude Pire

What is the most important thing you have learned in recent years? A photo is not determined by the equipment, but by the expression of the model. What are your future plans or what can we expect from you soon? Photography is a sparetime activity an I don’t have concrete plans for the future. I try to improve myself every day. I enjoy photography very much and will be inspired by people that I meet on my photography journey. What are you looking for in the models you work with? Like I mentioned before, the expression of a model is very important for me! The expression of the model can make or break the image. Regarding the type of model, I always look for models with a classy, civilized and open appearance. What do you think of our new magazine? This magazine looks very beautiful and professional. Lots of inspiring photo material and interesting background stories. Do you have a message to the modeling world It's not the equipment that makes the image, but the expression of the model. If the photographer is able to create a pleasant and respectful atmosphere, the model will show her vulnerability and will open her emotions which increases the chance of a captivating image. Photographer Alex Butler

(Italy)

Can you tell us a little about you? Of course, I'm Alex Butler, I'm 27 and I'm an Italian photographer. I love ta-king portraits, but my work also includes artistic nudes, glamour and fashion photography. How and when did you get into photography? My experience as a photographer begins seven years ago. I have not attended academies, I have always been a selftaught and a great photography lover. I bought my first camera in 2012 and bought it without knowing how to use it because I had never had one. From the moment I picked it up, I started photographing landscapes. Then one day I met a girl and I asked her to pose for me, and from that moment I mainly dedicated myself to photographing people, my greatest interest. What does photography mean to you? Photography gives me a sense of total freedom. For me it means to be free to express my creativity. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I don't have a predefined style, I like to be free to express myself according to the model in front of me. I love using natural light and I work a lot on post production focusing on details, in particular on the skin and its texture. Where do you get inspiration from? I spend a lot of time on my photographic research which I mainly do on Instagram. Then during my travels, I get inspiration from the place where I am and from the sensations that it gives to me. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? No, or at least not the final result. I decide the choice of the outfit with the model, then I choose the location and I start shooting following the natural light. I like to capture the naturalness of the model's movements. Studio, on location or both? Both, but I prefer to take pictures in location. - 246 -

Model Maja Bianchini

(Italy)

Can you tell us a little about you? Well, I actually don't know where to start. I don't like to describe myself but I will try by using my best friends words. When someone meets me for the first time the first impression is that I'm a conceited person, but when they start to know me their impression changes to “she's a humble tomboy!. If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? I think that loving yourself is the most important thing in life and I actually do it. I wouldn't change a thing about me, even though I have a lots of flaws. We are all perfect in our imperfection. How did you start modeling? I started around fourteen years old by doing an audition for an agency. It turned out to be a scam, that's why now i believe only in a few of them. After that I decided that it was my goal to become a model without signing in with an agency. What do you think of the work as a model? You know, they say that it's a dangerous word, but it's dangerous only if you're not able to protect yourself. You have to always be one step ahead, in every situation, so that no one can drag you down. What is your beauty regimen? I don't have a standard beauty regimen. I take care of myself everyday but without imposing rules on me, I prefer to have healthy habits instead of strict rules. What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? A high quantity of freckles, various facial expression and humility. What are your plans for the future? I'm the kind of person that lives day by day, but I also have long-terms projects. One of these is to be able of positively influencing as many people as possible everyday for the rest of my life. What are some of your favorite experiences so far? By now I loved all of my experiences, but the favorite one is with a photographer, and friend, in Milan. His name of art is Francis Theblueroom, it was such a pleasure to meet and pose for him. Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling? You must believe in yourself and be strong, always! Giving up is not a choice in this world, even if everyone say that you can't do it. Prove them wrong because you are your only limit. What do you think of the magazine? The magazine is a work of art and dedication, that's why i love it! facebook.com/Thefrecklesgirl/?ref=settings - instagram.com/bianchinimaja/?hl=it - 256 -

Photographer Pietro Menzione Giordano (Italy) Can you tell us a little about you? I'm Pietro, an advertising photographer from the province of Naples, but I've lived in Milan for 5 years. I like watching films and series, I read and I like cooking, a dream of mine is to become a chef. I am often traveling in search of new inspirations and to learn about new cultures; the cities that particularly enriched me were London and Paris. I love art in all its forms. I work mainly in fashion, but I also devote myself to painting and interior design. My slogan is "limiting ourselves to the present". How and when did you get into photography? Photography is a passion that has accompanied me since I was a child. In the family albums there are many photos that portray me while I try to capture everything with my camera. At the age of nineteen I started my first job as a photographer in tourist villages, I was mainly involved in photographing children. I photographed every emotion and expression of those children, so magically spontaneous (I spent hours waiting for them to smile). After a few years, feeling the need to improve myself and grow professionally, I decided to undertake studies in advertising photography. After completing my studies I worked as a photographer assistant with var-ious professionals from the fashion ceremony. Initially I worked in different sectors photographing "everything". Even today I find it hard to understand what and who makes me feel better while I'm shooting. I don't think I will ever find my way, I will continue to look for some-thing in my "everything" that excites me. Where do you get inspiration from? Surely my shots have been influenced by the great Masters of photography. Sometimes on free days I spend entire afternoons browsing through my books by: Helmut Newton, Peter Lindberg, Richard Avedon, Elliott Erwitt, Man Ray, Saul Leiter, Amedeo Modigliani, Edward Hopper, Andy Warhol and many others that, not least , I do not quote. In the past I had so many archives of "ideas", I collected images and experimented. Today I believe that the inspirations reach me so suddenly. Often in explicating the usual daily activities, like simply shopping at the supermarket, I am inspired. I stop and write down the ideas to be realized on my agenda. - 266 -

Katrin Kaurov Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. This is a question I often try to answer. I can't have a unique style in photography, I have often tried to orient myself on a specific "mood" to find my professional identity, as many photographers do, but I haven't succeeded yet. I have a constantly changing personality and my photography reflects this alternation of styles and thoughts. (I was born under the sign of Gemini, I think I said it all.) My approach to pho-tography has sometimes been provocative and transgressive, at other times elegant and refined. I try, especially when I photograph women, to bring out their personality, their true being. I move in the scene trying to capture the details, I learned that people's skills often count more than technical skills. Most of all in my shots I want to express an intent, rather than a vision, leaving aside the worry of what people will think of my photographs. I stop thinking about "duty" to make and experiment ideas and techniques. A bit like in life, when you are looking for the ideal woman: “well! I never know whether to choose a devil or an angel, so I try both. "

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? It depends on the type of photography, if it is a commercial job yes, I plan at 90% what I am going to do. If it is a personal project, instead, I leave a lot of space for improvisation and instinct. Studio, on location or both? I grew up with flash and artificial lights, but in recent years, photography on location and on the street has fascinated me a lot. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I am a professional photographer, but I often prefer to feel like a hobbyist going around taking personal photos without particular commercial interests. What has been your most memorable session and why? One afternoon a Russian model arrives in my house in Milan, I had to do some portraits, but I didn't have anything specific in mind. In the air, in addition to a loop song, there was a magic that even today I can hardly explain. A perfect balance between technique and feeling, emotion and framing, practice and vision. I won't add anything else. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? The choice of equipment doesn't really matter to me. Personally I use a Nikon D800 and sometimes some 35mm analog camera. For the lens, however, it depends on how I feel emotionally, but I prefer the 35mm.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? What advice would you like to offer to a new photographer trying to start his own business? Never losing sight of your goal and always feeling free to do what you feel, to abandon the rules and conventions even if sometimes it may seem wrong. Choices form the language of a photographer, in photography there is no right or wrong thing. What do you think of our new magazine? An interesting magazine that enhances and gives voice to talents. A beautiful showcase for new artists and creatives of various kinds. facebook.com/pietromenzionegiordano/ www.instagram.com/pietromenzione/?hl=it www.pietromenzionegiordano.com/ Sara Luciano

Model Veronica Rossi (Italy) Can you tell us a little about you? Hi guys! Thank you so much for the interview! I’m Veronica from Milan, and this is my second life! Yes, I’m 43 (43!), and really so proud of this. I am not so proud of my body, although I know I am lucky for my age, how much energy and love I have for life. I work all day, I do sports every day, I pose for photoshootings, I organize events, I dedicate myself to many new types of projects. I'm a singer in my spare time, I love cats, fitness.. If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? In the past I wanted to be taller, to have curly hair, or red, to have blue eyes instead of green‌... now I would not change anything of the physical appearance because I believe that everyone should value their own uniqueness. I would rather change something in my character, especially I know I am sometimes too helpful with those who really don't deserve it, and I know I'm so, too selfcritical. How did you start modeling? Already at the age of 10 I was collecting photos of the models, marking their measurements, taking Polaroid and buying Vogue, but I lived in a small seaside town. When I arrived in Milan at 18 to study probably my country style with a short skirt and long hair in the wind it was so different from the stereotype of a city girl, and the agencies immediately appreciated. We were in the early nineties, agencies stopped us girls directly on the street. I was often asked through the scouters: some shots, many events, hostesses for important events. Then the relationship with my body became complicated, I fell into the anorexia tunnel for years and the doors were all closed. I wanted to die. But the story I tell is a happy ending because, years later, even through social media, the sliding doors are here again. To lose them again would be diabolical. Making mistakes is allowed, don't persevere. So here I am again in front of the lens, with more years but also awareness and much more desire to work well and have fun. What do you think of the work as a model? In the common mentality, and I thought the same thing when I was a little girl, a model is just a beautiful tall thin girl. Absolutely wrong! Height, thinness, beauty can be fundamental for some jobs, like not being for others. But under no circumstances are they sufficient. Being prepared, responsible, fair, well organized and professional is even more so. In the past I lived this job with much anxiety and insecurity. Today, conscious of the age I have and of not being perfect, I live it instead with much joy and passion. I feel very fortunate to have had a second chance, and I feel that interpreting every photographic pose is an important way for me to communicate. What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? I'm not very tall, I'm not young, I'm not perfect and I don't want to be. I am very thin but I have muscles and curves. I don't have the typical canons of anything. But I don't care anymore. I am interested in a good collaboration with the photographer, expressing what is required of me and making a valid creative contribution, even during styling and make-up, I don't care "to be beautiful in the photos". - 292 -

Issue 53 - November 2019 - Modellenland Magazine

What is your beauty regimen? Happyness, and respect of my body and soul. Daily workout (I couldn’t live without sport, it’s like breathing for me). Healty food, always. Water, water, water. And no alcool. And smile, smile everyday! What are your plans for the future? I still have many projects. I would especially like to have the opportunity, through social media, advertising or otherwise, to convey to women my story and my message: love yourself and your body and always follow your dreams; beauty is not necessarily a standard, don't hurt yourself to look like anybody but enhance your uniqueness. I also hope to have time to write a book one day. What are some of your favorite experiences so far? I don't accept any job if I don't like it and I'm not passionate about it, but there were two photo shootings in particular that I loved a lot: a pin up themed photoshooting in an American style venue, some of which have been published both online and on magazine, and a photoshooting in which I played a geisha. Finally, a cover on a trade magazine that I really appreciated because it was unexpected. Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling? I could tell you simply to take care of your body by sport, the skincare, the nutrition but I repeat myself again: it's not enough! Cultivate your education, your personality and your ideas, because those can make a difference. And don't wait for others to believe in you, do it first.you, do it first. What do you think of the magazine? It is rich in photos, interviews, stories of models and photographers; I really miss both the magazine and the website in general, which I find very well organized. A great showcase for all operators in the sector. It is a great honor and pleasure for me to be here to talk to you! FB https://www.facebook.com/veronicarossi - IG @verothedreamer - 294 -
