Cover Girl Sandra Ajtner (Poland)

Can you tell us a little about you? Hello, my name is Sandra Ajtner, I am 18 years old and i am a model. Im fascinated with fashion. From when i was very little i grew up being in front of my mom’s camera. I love learning languages and accepting challenges.

ou could change anything about yourself, what would it be? Nothing, I am unique being self with my pros and cons.

w did you start modelling? I started modelling by growing up in front of the camera lens and got very comfortable with being the model for my mother. Which after much practice and hard work, strove for the place where both, I and my mother are. I participated in exhibitions and here from started my journey with modelling.

What do you think of the work as a model? I think it’s so cool as a model to work with professionalists and getting to experience all kinds of different projects and fulfill them. I love to act out the concept of the photoshoot, the runways, the fashion, the artwork and ofcourse I love to see the end results after a photo shoot, it excites me. I just love it, it’s my passion and I would love to embrace it.

What is your beauty regimen? The healing from inside out, then you’ll shine on the outside. Healthy diet, exercise. Do the things that make you feel happy and motivated.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? It seems to me that one of my advantages is experience in front of the camera from such a young age, I feel the light perfectly, how it falls on my face and I adapt my pose under it, I am sensitive. And in my appearance I think my toothgap and my eyes.

What are your plans for the future? My main goal is to develop in the modelling world. Walking for fashion designers and traveling the world while doing the things that I love.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far? My favourite experiences… Pictures hanging with my face in France, Japan, USA. Having the opportunity to work with professionals. I also participated in Polska Miss and became Miss Teen Novaclear 2023

You also sing, can you tell us something briefly about that? Yes, I do sing. I also started my singing passion from when I was young. I recorded myself and trained by singing karaoke on YouTube - and lately I’ve dropped an album with few cover songs. I am planning to make my own music.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling? Be yourself. Take Polaroids, apply to model agencies and don’t give up.

Model Angelina Senko (USA)

Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Angelina Stetsenko. I was born in Moscow, Russia. Currently I reside in New York, USA and work as a fashion model. Before coming to New York I have been working in such countries as Italy, France, China, Malaysia, Turkey, Lebanon and so on. In each country I have been multiple times coming for short term contracts or direct bookings for certain clients. Mostly I have done editorial and runway jobs.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? I would love to be more focused and be better at planning. Whatever one’s occupation is, succeeding is all about planning and sticking to your plan. Time is a valuable asset and should not be wasted due to poor organization. Also it is crucial to change the course of your actions in case you clearly see that something is wrong or not worthy of doing anymore. Flexibility of mind helps one to adjust the plan to current circumstances to achieve the goal.

How did you start modeling? I started when I was a student at University and just wanted to earn some money during my spare time. I just sent some pictures to a local model agency and I was invited to an interview. It was pretty easy for me to get my first model job. My very first job was a runway show of aspiring fashion designers. After that I was cast for the shows at Moscow Fashion week. My favorite runway show always was Valentin Yudashkin’s show. I adore the feminine elegant style of his collections. Later after graduation modeling became my full time job. My first international contract was with an Italian agency in Milan. After Italy I got contacts in China and Malaysia.

What do you think of the work as a model? I think it is a perfect job for a young creative person. This job can bring you around the world and make you meet people from every corner of the world. Modeling is the area of business where 18 y.o. person can become a star in just one fashion season. Becoming successful at such a young age can have a great impact on one’s life. It could be a positive or negative one, depending on one’s personality and the way the person has been upbrought and prepared for life. This job can teach young people how to navigate in an international environment, how to communicate with people from different cultures and how to build prospective business relations.

What is your beauty regimen? To be honest i think that the best beauty routine is 8-hours sleep, sports and healthy food. By controlling your nutrition you provide yourself with all necessary vitamins and microelements which are crucial for having healthy skin and a strong fit body. I usually do sports 3 times a week and my favorite classes are TRX and functional training.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? I really love to do sports. So it is pretty easy for me to always be fit. It is crucial for modeling. Sport helps not only maintain physical measurements but also it improves a person's mood as intensive exercises increase dopamine’s level in the brain. Being beautiful is not enough anymore. Caring for myself by doing sports and following a healthy diet always gives me an advantage.

What are your plans for the future? I plan to keep working as a model and also develop a new career path as a child psychologist. I have got a University degree in neuropsychology and intend to practice with children with special needs. However I am not ready to give up my model work. So I'll have to find a balance between these two occupations in the near future.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far? As for professional experience I would say it is a shoot for Elle magazine in Lebanon. I was with a great team of fashion creatives and the outcome had exceeded my expectations. Also I really enjoyed working in Malaysia. Every job I have done there was memorable in its own way. For example, the shoot for YTL luxury magazine was organized in a different city where all team members stayed in the same hotel and went out for dinners together. In this way I really felt that I was a part of a team, not just a model who stayed for a short term contract and could be replaced.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling? I would advise young models to get a model agent who believes in you and invest time in your professional development. It is crucial to follow the instructions of your agent. Usually an agent is older and much more experienced so he/she can plan a model's contracts and professional development in a productive way

What do you think of the magazine? I think the magazine is a modern place where creative professionals can get a shoutout. It is very useful to read the interviews of someone who works in the same field as you to use their experience and avoid common mistakes. I really appreciate the opportunity to appear on the pages of the Modellend

Photographer Robert van Grinsven (The Netherlands)

Can you tell us a little about you? First of all, thank you for the opportunity of this interview! My name is Robert van Grinsven, autodidact photographer, living in the oldest city in The Netherlands; Nijmegen. I work at a big IT company as manager and use photography as a creative outlet. I am married and have 2 lovely kids. As I find my family life important and have a full-time job, the time I can spend to photography is sometimes limited.

How and when did you get into photography? Photography has interested me for the past 40 years, but since 2009 I started to acquire more in-depth knowledge and understanding of photography via online training, books and fellow-enthusiasts. I love wedding photography, but as this is a 'first-time-right' business, I started training myself in seeing the light and understanding posing etc. via model photography (what now I do most).

What does photography mean to you? Photography not only is my passion, way to express myself, creative outlet, but also has become part of my social life. I love meeting people end hearing their life's stories, beliefs, passions etc.

Also sometimes it is an adventure to scout for the perfect location or shooting at locations you never saw as a great scenery for a concept.

Please briefly describe your photography style. I love playing with light, interacting with the human body.

Where do you get inspiration from? I get inspiration from social media, things I see around me, online trainings, but also from working with people. The images I love the most create themselves within a location or concept.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? It depends. In assignments, I do it most of the times. But as every individual, location and time of the day is unique, I also let things evolve from a concept.

- 42 -

Studio, on location or both? I shoot in studio and on location (with OCF if needed)

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I consider myself as a paid hobbyist as the money I earn with photography pays for my equipment, website, occasional workshops, licenses etc

What has been your most memorable session and why? I have several, for various reasons. The one now on top of my head is the ballet shoot at "De Oversteek". It was a unique evening where we had this iconic bridge completely to ourselves, with great music coming from a party nearby in the background. Formally this was not allowed, but both the security and police understood we could not let this opportunity pass and allowed us there for a while. They even offered us some drinks so we could continue longer.

Nikon or Canon? Favo lens? I love shooting with my Sony A7IV, whenever possible with my Sigma 105 1.4 lens. The separation you get with this lens I find gorgeous and still it is "light" enough to carry around (instead of f.i. a 200 1.8).

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? Follow your own path, but be open to advises from others. Take from that what resonates with you and respectfully discard what doesn't. But always be thankful for the advises you get.

What do you think of our new magazine? It looks great and is a fantastic opportunity to showcase work.

Model & Actress Marina Gonc (Los

Angeles, USA)

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling? What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

Can you tell us a little about you? As a model and entrepreneur based in Los Angeles, I have had the amazing opportunity to work in Super Bowl commercials with well-known brands. I am passionate about supporting small businesses and have a deep love for beauty in geneal. I am particularly drawn to the fashion of the 40s and classic styles.

w and when did you get into Modeling? I got into modeling when I realized the power it holds in capturing moments and emotions. It allows me to express my creativity and tell ories through visual images. I started exploring photography a few years ago and fell in love with the art form.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? I’m always try something new and different. I don’t have expectations and that’s probably the reason I’m enjoying every moment.

What does Modeling mean to you? Modeling, to me, is a way to freeze time and preserve memories. It is a medium through which I can convey emotions and capture the essence of a moment. It allows me to see and appreciate the beauty in everyday life.

Please briefly describe your style for our readers. My style can be described as timeless and elegant. I strive to capture the essence of my subjects, whether it's a person, a product, or a landscape. I pay attention to details and aim to create images that have a classic and sophisticated feel.

Where do you get inspiration from? I draw inspiration from various sources. I find inspiration in nature, art, fashion, and even everyday life. I also look to photographers and their work for inspiration. I believe that inspiration can come from anywhere and everywhere, and I am always open to new ideas and perspectives.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Yes, I do think in advance about what I want to capture in a picture. I plan the composition, lighting, and mood to ensure that the final image aligns with my vision. However, I also believe in being open to spontaneous moments and allowing room for creativity to flow during the shoot.

Studio, on location or both? I enjoy both studio and on-location photography. Each setting offers unique opportunities and challenges. In a studio, I have full control over the lighting and environment, which allows for a more controlled and precise approach. On-location shoots, on the other hand, provide a natural and authentic backdrop that can add depth and character to the images.

Photographer Damian Gaworski (Poland)

Can you tell us a little about yourself? Hi, I'm Damian. I'm 26 and I live in Warsaw. About a year and a half ago, I quit my corporate job to focus on photography and hopefully make a living out of it. Apart from photography, I like running, spending time with my friends and eating Asian food. I think I have a pretty laid-back attitude to many things in life, so it's quite easy to hang out or work with me.

How and when did you get into photography? I actually started by making silly YouTube videos in 2008 when I was in primary school and only then switched to photography. I got my first DSLR in 2014, which my parents bought me for our trip to Prague. Those were the times when I started learning and exploring different techniques and taking every opportunity to take pictures of my friends, school events, and meetings of my athletics team. In 2018, I got my first job at a local studio as a retoucher and a photographer. There was a ton of work to do, so I had an incredible opportunity to hone my skills.

What does photography mean to you? It can be many things, but to me, it's mainly an opportunity to capture some kind of mood. What I love about photography is that you don't need to use words to express an idea. It simply needs to 'feel' right. I also thoroughly enjoy the whole process of working on a shoot, from preparation through shooting, editing, and finally delivering the results, as well as interacting with people along the way.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I'd say it's a mix of lifestyle, portraiture and sometimes fashion or even beauty photography. I come up with different concepts and then try to express them in photos to evoke a certain feeling while also being visually pleasing. I like to play around with clothing, posing, props, and above all, with color combinations as well as different locations. My pictures are mostly about happiness and positivity. Sometimes I could call them dreamy, or at least that's how I see them.

Venetia Chan (@vee_itsmee)

Where do you get inspiration from? Mainly from music and other photographers that I see online. I often listen to playlists on YouTube and get inspired by a combination of a photo or some artwork and the music that makes a really good fit. I often try to match the feeling of a song I'm currently listening to on repeat. A few years ago, Brandon Woelfel's photography was also a huge inspiration to me.

Do you think in advance about what you want in the picture? Most of the time, yes. I like to have a few ideas in mind before I shoot. It's usually the color palette, lighting, clothing, and a few poses or composition. After we achieve what we wanted, we get more spontaneous with the model and try to get creative on the spot. At times, however, when I just feel like shooting for fun on a given day, I simply go out with a friend and do it without any preparation whatsoever. It's much safer to have ideas ahead because the last thing you want is your mind to go blank during a shoot, but sometimes the unprepared shots end up being the best ones.

Studio, on location, or both? Both, but I enjoy location shoots a bit more. I'm always on the lookout for new interesting spots. Speaking of the studio though, I actually have a mini studio in my 15 square meter room, but I only take pictures with my friends there. Even though I can get just as good results as in a big studio, I'd feel embarrassed to invite someone there, so I always rent one when shooting with new people. But to be honest, it's a bit awkward to handle equipment that isn't yours and I never feel fully comfortable with that, so that's something I'll have to work on.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I'd say I'm right now in this transition period when I'm trying to become a professional. I'm not a pro just yet, but hopefully, I'll become one soon. Right now, my focus is on improving my skills and getting my bills paid at the same time if possible.

Model and MU ADominika Grzesiak (@zaciesznie) Issue 105 - April 2024 - Modellenland Magazine

What has been your most memorable session and why? That would be the one I did with my friend at a fun fair last September. There were plenty of people, so it was a bit tricky. Before the shoot, we took a ride on a carousel. I was scared at first, but it actually turned out to be really fun, and afterwards, we started the shoot in high spirits. We had a lot of fun that evening, and in the end, we managed to capture the mood exactly how we wanted. Thanks, Klaudia!

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I use Canon, but I don't think it matters which brand you use. Right now, Sigma 50mm f/1.4 ART is my go-to lens. I'm simply in love with its bokeh and sharpness. Although, an honorable mention also goes to the Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM, which was my main portrait lens for many years. I know it's kind of common knowledge, but I think it's for a good reason and I'd like to just say that cheap 50mm lenses indeed do deliver.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer to a new photographer looking to start their own business? I once heard that the best way to make money in photography is to sell your equipment. No, but in all seriousness, I think getting yourself out there and collaborating with other people in your area is probably the best tip to start building connections and getting more experience. Try to shoot as much as possible. I used to be really anxious about working with new people, but once I've overcome this barrier, I've seen huge progress.

What do you think of our new magazine? It's amazing that you give exposure to the up-and-coming people in the industry. I've never done such an interview before, and I have to admit I really had a blast! Thank you so much for having me!

Photographer Mario Dirks (Germany)

Can you tell us a little about you? I was born on the island of Norderney in Lower Saxony / Germany. I lived there until my 30th birthday. I love the Beach and the Ocean. My big hobby was windsurfing. When I was 30 I moved to the city of Oldenburg. Here I work at a theater. Encounters with actors, singers, directors and art always inspire me to come up with new photo ideas. Since 2007 I give regular photography workshops around the world. I've been to New York, Paris, Singapore, Sydney, Florence, Milan, Iceland, South America, etc. and even spent 5 weeks with some students in Antarctica.

How and when did you get into photography? I was 7 years old when I discovered a pinhole camera craft kit in a magazine. Those were my first experiences with photography. Since then, the fascination has never left me. I took analogue photographs for a long time and developed films myself. After many years of digital photography, I have recently rediscovered the joy and fascination of analogue photography.

What does photography mean to you? Photography is my window to the world, a way to capture fleeting moments of beauty, emotion, and meaning. It's a language that speaks without words, allowing me to express myself, connect with others, and preserve memories that are dear to my heart. In essence, photography is my passion, my creative outlet, and my way of finding beauty in the world around me.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I like to photograph people, even a little closer to better perceive their eyes, their expressions and emotions. But I am also a big fan of Peter Lindbergh and his style of photography. I like to take photos in black and white, but sometimes also in color

Where do you get inspiration from? Oh, there are so many photographers that inspire me. One of the most famous is certainly Peter Lindbergh, but of course also Helmut Newton, Leibovitz, Anton Corbijn, or the pictures by Vivian Maier. A good Friend of me is the Celebrity Photographer Vincent Peters, he inspire me too… But also the old black and white films inspire me, such as Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergmann.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Yes, the most of my photos are precisely planned. Light, outfits, hair and makeup, posing and much more. But very often completely different moments suddenly arise during the photo shoot that are much more exciting and accordingly the results often differ from my planned considerations.

Studio, on location or both? I like working with natural daylight. Preferably when the sky is cloudy and the light is very soft. But if it's too cold outside or the weather doesn't allow it, I go to my studio, where I also like to work with soft light. Either from the window or with large softboxes when I use artificial light (LED or flash).

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Since I unfortunately have to live from photography, I would rather describe myself as professional.

What has been your most memorable session and why? In my work i travel a lot and one of my last most interesting photographic experiences was a five week trip to the Antarctica for Hapag Lloyd a few years ago... Here you can see endless ice fields, glittering glaciers and majestic icebergs stretching to the horizon. The size and untouchedness of this landscape makes you speechless and experience the beauty of nature and the animal world with its whales, penguins and seals in its purest form. Another great experience was a job for the lens manufacturer SIGMA. Here I was able to travel as a photographer around the world for 50 weeks and during this time I traveled to over 78 destinations and had over 100 flights. This helped me to see the world and its cultures from a completely different perspective than before.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I've been taking photos with Canon for a long time. However, since the automatic eye detection, I switched to Sony. My favorite lens is the Canon 85mm f 1:1.2, which I adapted to my Sony, I love the bokeh of this lens with the open aperture.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? One important piece of advice I would give to a new photographer is to focus on developing your own particular style. If possible, try to assist other good photographers and build a photographic network. In contrast to the past, a strong online presence is also important today.

What do you think of our new magazine? It’s a very inspiring magazine, where you show a great diversity of talented and very interesting photographers and models. I am very grateful to be invited to this interview, as well as the space you have given me.

Photographer Alexander Forst (Switzerland)

Can you tell us a little about you? Hi I m Alex, a Landscape, Street and Portrait Photographer Original from Berlin in Germany. 10 Years ago I moved to Switzerland. Beside Photography I like also windsurfing and traveling.

How and when did you get into photography? After I moved to Switzerland. I started with photography by accident 6 years ago. I bought a motorbike and was driving the passtreets of Switzerland and made pictures with my phone. Soon I felt that my pictures are not good enough for what my eyes seen. That's why I decided to buy me a better camera. I started with a small camera. But my pictures still was not very good. So I slowly started to become interested in photography and picture post processing. I started with Landscape Photography but I was always interested into shoot portrait. I m a very shy person so it was hard to me in the beginning asking someone to posing for me. My first Portrait shooting I had 3 years ago. I made a request in a TFP group and I got answer from a very kind person. Her name was Linda and it was also her first time to be a model. We spend almost the full day together shooting and I began to be more and more secure with what I am doing during the shooting. After that I've got more models and also professional models. But I m still shy and I prefer to work with one model more often and doing projects as to shoot always someone new.

What does photography mean to you? Photography means to me to tell a story or submit a feeling. I very rarely describe my pictures I want the viewer creates their own story to my shots.

Please briefly describe your tyle. If I would describe my Photography I would say it is more on the darker side.

Where do you get inspiration from? From everywhere but Movies and Paintings mostly.

Models: @chasa_lifestyle/ - @pictures_of_jib/

- 124 -

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Yes. For landscape for Portrait and also for Street. The shot is already existing in my head.

Studio, on location or both? I like Both. With Studio work I started just a few month ago.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I would love to get paid for my work but till now this is not happened. Right now I pay for my hobby.

What has been your most memorable session and why? The most memorable session was a landscape shooting in Madeira which went viral. I've got a lot of requests for Interviews and publishing my work in many Magazines and even the President of Madeira was sharing my Pictures that time.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I feel insulted. Sony, of course. There is no favorite lens. There is only the right lens for the right conditions and idea. I love to shoot with old classic lenses with character like the Helios 40-2 but also love to take my 50mm f1.2 gm from Sony. For Landscapes i m shooting Daytime mostly with my 16-35 f2.8 gm and in the night I m using fast primes from 15mm up to 135mm. For Portraits I m using only Prime lenses from 35mm up to 85mm. For street I m shooting 35 or 50mm, I m a lens fetishist. I own around 30 lenses. I love to own them and I love to use them from very old to super new and high-tech.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? I don’t have a business with Photography. I would be a bad advisor.

What do you think of our new magazine? I really like it. It is great to have a platform like this to publish art. You have a great selection of excellent Photographers, and I feel very honored to get chosen from your magazine to publish my work.

Photographer Claudiu Guraliuc (Romania)

Can you tell us a little about you? I am fine art photographer and educator, based in Cluj, Romania. I am a Master Photographer, holding the Associate distinction with The Master Photographers Association in the UK, and the distinction of Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain.

Over the last years I`ve been awarded numerous international accolades, in October 2020 receiving the Fine Art Photographer of the Year award, at the Master Photography Awards Gala in the UK, with an image part of my painterly, baroque-inspired series.

In January 2022, I received the International Master Photographer of the Year 2021 award, one of the top accolades in the industry. I was also presented with the Portrait and Fine Art Photographer of the Year awards, at the 38th Annual Master Photographers International Awards in the UK. In 2023 I became the first Romanian photographer to win a FEP Camera Award, receiving the European Bronze Camera in Fine Art from the Federation of European Professional Photographers

I`ve had my work published by some of the largest circulation photography magazines and have artwork present in galleries, private collections and museums in Europe, Asia and United States. Currently represented by Katsea Gallery, Baltimore, Maryland, US and Influx Gallery, Notting Hill, London.

How and when did you get into photography? I started photography in 2013 as a way to deal with a high stress job in banking. And it took over my life. From a hobby it became a profession and a way of life.

What does photography mean to you? Photography, to me, transcends mere imagery; it's a medium through which I breathe life into moments, emotions, and stories. It`s not just about capturing a scene but about orchestrating light, composition, and narrative to evoke profound emotions in viewers. It's a relentless pursuit of perfection, a dance between technical precision and creative intuition. Photography is my language, my means of expression, and my way of connecting deeply with the world and those who view my work.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. My work is first and foremost an attempt to translate the aesthetic of the Old Masters to the means of expression of digital photography. This involves not only replicating their techniques but also finding ways to bring their style into the 21st century. To achieve this, I experiment with digital techniques trying to create images that are both technically proficient and emotionally resonant, images that are not only visually striking, but also deeply evocative and expressive. Through my work, I hope to bring a sense of classical refinement and sophistication to contemporary photography, while also exploring the timeless themes of beauty, form, and human condition. I believe that by combining the best of the past with the possibilities of the present, I can create images that are both timeless and modern, and that will continue to inspire and move viewers for generations to come. Ultimately, my goal is to pay homage to the traditions of the Old Masters while also finding ways to make their aesthetic relevant and accessible to contemporary audiences.

- 140 -

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I work with Nikon gear. Most of my studio work is done with a Nikon 105mm 1.4 and a Nikon 58mm 1.4.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? Hard work, individual study, lots of practice, resilience and a positive attitude will bring you success. Not expensive gear or fancy locations. Do what you love and you will never have to work for one day in your life. Do it now, not tomorrow, not the day after. I know is hard. But trust me, when you do something with love and put a small piece of yourself in everything you produce, there will always be a living to be made out of that.

What do you think of our new magazine? Any such initiative holds immense promise for enriching visual culture and nurturing the photographic community. Firstly, it can serve as a platform for emerging and established photographers to showcase their work, offering exposure and recognition crucial for their growth. By featuring diverse perspectives, styles, and genres, it broadens horizons, stimulating creativity and inspiring innovation within the photographic community

Your publication can provide a curated space for critical discourse and analysis, fostering intellectual engagement with images. Through articles, interviews, and reviews, it encourages dialogue on contemporary issues, historical contexts, and technological advancements in photography, thereby deepening our understanding of visual culture. I applaud the emergence of any magazine dedicated to photography because it can cultivate a sense of belonging and camaraderie among enthusiasts, professionals, and aficionados alike. It creates opportunities for networking, collaboration, and mentorship, strengthening bonds within the community and facilitating knowledge exchange. It has the potential to contribute significantly to the enrichment of visual culture and the continued evolution of the photographic community.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Photography is my only source of income, so I guess that makes me a professional.

Issue 105 - April 2024 - Modellenland Magazine

Where do you get inspiration from? As a photographer, I am constantly inspired by the aesthetics of Old Masters paintings, especially what is commonly referred to as the Baroque period. Their attention to detail, use of light and shadow and ability to capture the human form in a way that is both realistic and ethereal, is something that I strive to bring into my photographs. I am particularly drawn to the way that Old Masters were able to convey a sense of depth and three-dimensionality in their paintings, by the way that classical painting was able to convey that sense of grandeur and drama. I try to recreate this sense of depth and dimensionality in my own photos, by carefully controlling the lighting and composition of my shots, through the use of dramatic lighting and posing. At the same time, I also seek to bring a sense of intimacy and emotion to my work, drawing on the traditions of classical portraiture to create images that are both timeless and deeply personal and that speak to the enduring beauty and humanity of the human experience.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Always. For me, planning is the most important part of any photographic project. Good planning gets you the desired results much faster than otherwise and makes life easier both during the shoot and editing stages.

Studio, on location or both? I prefer to shoot in a studio environment using artificial light. It may have to do with my being a control freak. Natural light may be beautiful but is not always so. In the studio, I make the light. It’s always how I decide it to be.

What has been your most memorable session and why? I believe it was the session that marked the inception of my series inspired by the Baroque era. The images from that session, along with those that followed, truly changed both my life and my career.

Photograpger Nikoletta Nerpel (Hungary)

Tell us a little about you? I am a portrait photographer and digital artist based in Leányfalu, Hungary. Specializing in business and beauty portraiture, I also venture into the realms of creative, cosplay, and fantasy portraits.

How and when did you get into photography? When I was a little child I found an analog camera on a family trip. At the time I did not attach much importance to it, but now I find it an interesting and fateful coincidence. During my university years, I changed photography for economics, but after graduating I immediately enrolled in a photography school, where I fell in love with studio portraiture. After photography school, I tried many types of photography to earn money: family, maternity, event, wedding, concert, music bands, food, product and for a long time fashion was my favourite. Then I went back to portrait photography, because that's what I enjoy the most and I feel I can do the most to help and bring joy to people.

What does photography mean to you? My goal in each portrait is to convey a profound sense of beauty, elegance, and sophistication. Driven by the belief that everyone deserves to feel confident and proud, I strive to capture these qualities in my photographs. My work transcends traditional boundaries, demonstrating that art can be a source of joy, playfulness, and boundless creativity, offering endless avenues for self-expression.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I love beauty and harmony, I like to idealise, that is why my photographs are mostly staged. I strive to portray the subject as aesthetically as possible, whether it be a person or a landscape. In order to create the "perfect" image, I do a lot of retouching and even composites. It probably comes from my background as a concert photographer, but I love backlighting, coloured lights, smoke, haze, all the "theatrical" elements and I use them in my photography. After the theatrical exaggerations, I sometimes long for the "minimal", in which case I shoot clean, black and white, light and shadow games.

Where do you get inspiration from? Literally from everywhere. I can be inspired by a person, a place, a dress, a feeling, a mood, a song… I'm a big fan of fantasy movies and stories from long ago, especially Arthurian legends and Lord of the Rings. My photos often have a fairy-tale, film-like feel, but the inspiration often come from the work of Renaissance or Baroque painters, so the end result has more of the feel of an old painting.

Are you a hobbyist or a professional? I am a paid professional with the heart of an enthusiastic hobbyist.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? I always plan it, I have the finished photo in my head before the shoot. I work from a concept, a moodboard, which is given to the creative team too. Of course, there may be some minor changes along the way, but only if it raises the quality of the final images.

Studio, on location or both? Both, depending on the theme of the shoot. I'm a perfectionist and like to have full control over the lights, if given the choice, I'll go for the studio. Of course, there are projects that require outdoor space, but even then I go with full studio equipment with battery flashes. I often change the background in postproduction, so you never know where the original photo was taken.

What has been your most memorable session and why? I have so many wonderful photo shoots behind me. The most recent one I really enjoyed was a shoot inspired by the Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart music video. When I saw the imagery in the music video, I just identified with this backlit, smoky, over-exposed world with a heavenly atmosphere. Every time I heard the song afterwards, I fantasized about what kind of pictures I would take based on it... Then over the Christmas break, that photo series was born as a family program. The pictures are starring my brother and his partner, they are wonderful, I love all the photos!

Nikon or Canon? lens? Nikon, by the way the camera I found as a child was also a Nikon. What a coincidence. My favourite lens at the moment is a Sigma Art 50mm 1.4. But basically, I think the equipment almost makes no difference. And the brand really doesn't matter. The most important thing is the knowledge, creativity and the soul of the photographer.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? Most of all, to dare to be themselves, to develop their own styles, the art that comes from the heart. Do your best on every shoot, do it with enthusiasm and passion. Photography can only be done (for the long term) with dedication and love for the profession. AND learn a lot about marketing and self-branding!

What do you think of our new magazine? It gives us a great opportunity to “meet” talented artists from all over the world. Thank you for being part of it.

Model Ania Lisia (Poland)

Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Anne, although everyone calls me "Lisia", which means Foxy. From an early age, I undertook various artistic activities, at which the camera always accompanied me. I fell in love with posing and performing in front of the camera, it became not only my greatest passion, but also my dream job, which I have been doing for about 9 years now

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? Totally nothing! I think I am at a good point in my life where I accept and love myself. I think that what is a disadvantage for some can be a charming advantage for others. The most important thing is to know one's worth and surround oneself with the right people around, who give us wings, not give us new complexes.

How did you start modeling? I posed for paintings and my friends for photo shoots. This is how I started to build my portfolio unconsciously yet. Until now, I love not being locked into one climate, and I can only hope that it shows in my portfolio.

What do you think of the work as a model? Modeling work has its advantages and disadvantages like anything. For me, it is a dream come true. Meeting people, traveling, playing different roles is the perfect combination for me.

What is your beauty regimen? Immediately after the session, I wash off my makeup, and I also have a minimalist, but well-chosen skin care in the form of serums and creams. I try to get a facial massage.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? Wordiness, patience, sensitivity and enjoyment of life, creative activities.

What are your plans for the future? More travel opportunities related to photography of course. I especially love posing, so I hope to do more sessions and workshops with new people.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far? Through photography I have met wonderful people and, most importantly, I have gotten to know myself better.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling? Don't be afraid and seize opportunities, each one makes you gain more experience. The best works come from wanting and being inspired by your experiences.

What do you think of the magazine? I think the magazine shows that people who create photography are diverse and how different approaches they can have. It's important to show others that there is no one right way and the most important thing is to create and live in harmony with each other

Kbtfoto Arts

(Lighted Life Photography) (Canada)

Can you tell us a little about you? Though I worked in the banking industry for more than three decades as a security manager, my passion has always been in arts and photography

How and when did you get into photography? Coming from a family legacy of studio owner and war correspondent photographer, I got to experience photography firsthand at a very young age. I was working alongside my uncle and father from the portrait studio when the live humans smiling, hoping to capture some precious moments of important life events, to the dark room, when we developed these negatives into photographs. This process makes me feel I am a part of these interesting lives, and it fuels my connections with other souls in a strangely comforting way.

What does photography mean to you? Photography is a testament to truths and the preservation of human emotions. It is beauty preserved and past moments with a built-in rewind button. It's a time-travel machine, where you can go back to any happy moment at any time.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I am particularly intrigued by elements of nostalgia from the past, perhaps due to my war-torn experience as an immigrant. I like street scenes, candid photography, portraits, wildlife, and landscapes. I like anything that exudes life, really! Life is my "style".

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? My advice is not to listen to anyone's advice when starting. Learn from your own experience. Explore what you need, what you want to learn, and what you have to offer the world, and yourself. Photography should never be a "business and while, I believe photographers should be rightly financially compensated for their endless hours and investments in equipment, the practice of photography is arts, and hence, it should be considered a "studio" where a photogrpher is commissioned to create an image, and not a "business" where a photographer is hired to take a picture.

- 194 -

Where do you get inspiration from? From the past, from dreams of places and images, from my longing to turn the clock backward, from the beauty of people and scenes around me.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? I don't think in advance, but I think I visualize a photo long before I click the shutter button. I feel that the photo is alive even before focusing on the subject. Thinking in arts is counterintuitive, I think, another way to put it is, do I feel in advance, yes, I feel multiple emotions in advance and almost a tiny sense of disappointment when I have taken the image.

Studio, on location or both? Both have a certain kind of allure. In the studio, the lighting is almost entirely manipulable, which allows you to accomplish so much more. On location, you are at the mercy of the light source, which calls for a spirit of spontaneity. I like both.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Though I do work for paid sessions, I consider myself a life-long hobbyist. This mentality keeps me sharp and creatively engaged.

What has been your most memorable session and why? Every session has to inspire you in some way for you to even being able to complete it, and when you are inspired, it's hard to choose from those unforgettable moments. This question beckons a more private reflection which I am not ready to divulge at the moment.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I own Nikon, Canon and Leica lens, and I select which to use depending on the type of photography and my current moods. It is as if you are asking me if I like the comfort of a white T-shirt, or the elegance of a white dress-shirt, and would like to say that it depends on the appropriate occasion.

What do you think of our new magazine? I think with the demise of many print photography magazines, online magazines are the anchor of the preservation of arts. I am elated to be acquainted with Modellenland Magazine and I hope that you will continue to elevate the visual arts.

Model Deborah Lo Burgio (Italy)

Can you tell us a little about you? I’m Deborah, i’m 18 and i live in Sicily. I am a sensitive, cheerful and often shy person but my strong point is irony!!

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? I don't think I would change anything because everything I have built so far I have done with my exact characteristics.

How did you start modelling? I started at the age of 4. Then in adolescence I left my passion but I resumed it at the age of 17.

What do you think of the work as a model? Working as a model is a unique emotion, you give voice to what you wear and your body and you become one with it. This job is helping me a lot with my self-esteem and I love it more every day.

What is your beauty regimen? I don't think I have one. Beauty is plurilateral, not only a beautiful face or a beautiful body makes a person beautiful. I believe that even in a job like this a charismatic and good soul must shine through, and not just aesthetics.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? I'm a person with two sides. One side of me is sweet, passionate, romantic and another is charismatic, cynical and often pessimistic the balance between the two sides makes me an unpredictable person and full of surprises. I think that sets me apart.

What are your plans for the future? In the future I would like to move to follow my dream. Obviously I will continue my studies but I would really like to continue with my work .

What are some of your favorite experiences so far? My favorite experience was modeling at Morgana Bay in Sanremo (Italy) together with various shootings that I do almost every week.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling? My advice would be to love your body and your defects which distinguish aesthetics from the canonical and boring one.

What do you think of the magazine? The magazine is really cool!! I admired the covers on the way to school and was amazed by them.

Model Kiara Pellegroms (Belgium)

(Re-Post 2022)

Photographer Gabriel Matula

(Re-Post 2022)

(Czech Republic)

Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Gabriel Matula, I´m a photographer, videographer & content creator from Buenos Aires, the city where I spent my childhood and youth. Since a young age, I´ve been involved in art. In 2003 I graduated as a graphic designer at University of Buenos Aires UBA. During my almost twenty years of career, I had the opportunity to explore many different fields in the visual industry, like Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, VFX, and Film just to name a few. Among my recent clients, you will find brands like Viper, L’Oreal, Samsung among others. My expertise is in the fields of fashion, advertising, and film. I had the honour to be awarded at the International Photography Awards in 2015 with 1st prize in the Beauty Portrait category. Since 2016 I have been based in Europe.

How and when did you get into photography? I guess in 1986 my parents bought a Yashica Fx 300, a camera that I still eventually use on my shoots. Of course I was a child back then, but I could start understanding the principles of that mechanical beauty. Later in 1996 I did a full year course for analog film cameras, and later on, I would say 2012 with the outcome of modern digital cameras, I decided to abandon graphic design to make photography my way of living.

What does photography mean to you? A way of expression, a mixed discipline that allowed me to put together all my previous experience as an artist.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. ….mmm I guess I am still working on my personal style, but what I can tell so far, is that in general I am trying to, rather than being technically perfect, give a soul to every image, even if they end up being not totally sharp, literally too dark, or technically far from perfection.

Where do you get inspiration from? Old movies and classic directors like Andrei Tarkovsky, Ingmar Bergman and some contemporary directors also like David Lynch. In terms of fashion I would say photographers like Peter Lindbergh and Helmut Newton too.

Model Emma Yurko, Wardrobe Leslee Cabler Yurko.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Yes, I definitely try to plan every scene in every shoot, but often the best pictures are those that weren't planned. When you shoot with natural light, where the en-vironment condition plays a fundamental role, both the risk and the potential of the image bloom there at the same time, you become a hunter and that's the time when your skills are more appreciated. Based on this, I also try to get some time for improvisation quite often in order to get the best of that momentum.

Studio, on location or both? Location, natural light and challenges.

What has been your most memorable session and why? Just came to my mind a shoot with a few friends, Tommas Hern a great makeup artist and Andrew Lukáč an amazing hair stylist. We travelled to a place called Lom Homolák, a lake in Czech Republic close to Prague and the output was amazing. It looked like we were in a completely different world and the use of natural light and vintage lenses helped us to create a quite unique atmosphere.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Paid Professional.

Nikon or Canon? Favourite lens? Nikon, Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 50 mm f1.8

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer? I would suggest trying to get to know them self and recognize their own goals; to study history of art and also to try to search for references in movies and culture from the past. Everything is already invented basically and the fact that everybody can press a shutter button doesn´t make all of us good artists.

What do you think of new magazine? I love the latest issues, the quality is amazing and the fact it is open to everybody for download is an act of kindness I haven't seen that often, I am very happy to be part of Modellenland Magazine issue.

Model Gèbel Edina (Romania)

Can you tell us a little about you? About me? Besides modeling, I like to be on the other side of the camera as well. I enjoy being the subject, but as a photographer, I want to improve and I’d like to create something new.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? My answer is simple: nothing! I accept myself as I am, and actually I love the person who I am. Perfection is overrated, it’s not a problem if a woman is original.

How did you start modelling? I started modeling relatively late. I was 23 when one of my friends introduced me to a modeling agency. They were welcoming and very open minded, thanks to them, I learned a lot about the industry. In the beginning there were mostly photoshoots, but soon I also stepped to the runway. Step by step I became more experienced in the field, but there is always room for improvement.

What do you think of the work as a model? It is a special and interesting job, it requires certain skills, but it has a very inspirational and creative side too, which I enjoy the most. I try to be as imaginative as possible both in front of the camera as well as behind it.

What is your beauty regimen? I do not really have a definitive regimen, I try to stay as healthy as possible, both in body and soul. I do sports, yoga and I enjoy hiking in my free time. These activities can energize me, and help me to feel good in my skin. Look after yourself, and your body, hair and skin will be grateful.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? I respect the people around me, for me it doesn’t matter if they are photographers, designers or models. If I work together with somebody, I try to be precise, punctual and give the best of my capabilites at all time.

What are your plans for the future? The future is still a big mystery for me. Obviously I have great plans as well. I want to improve as a model and gain more experience as a photographer, with the goal of starting my own business out of it. I think it is important to focus on the things which are happening in the present and I would like to enjoy them now. I’m still young, only 25, I want to live bravely, I want to make progress in my way and truth to be told, I’m still deciding what is the thing that I really want.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far? One of my favorite experiences was my first fashion show. We presented multiple dresses of famous designers, literally in a castle. It was a full day, packed with excitement and action. This was where I met many other wonderful models, with whom I’m still working until this day. I was very excited and afraid that I’ll tip and fall during my first catwalk. I didn’t fall, but the true relief came only when I finally had the opportunity to eat something delicios. It was a great day, I enjoyed every second of it, and I was proud of myself that I accomplished it.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling? Yes. Don’t be afraid of showing your true face, not just your best one.

What do you think of the magazine? Amazing! I like this new concept, it’s great that it gives the opportunity for the artists to show themselves and share their projects with the public

ISIS & GOLD

Dental jewelry is the new fashion accessory by many Hip-Hop singers and many other personalities. This craze even extends to Louis Vuitton, which offers to match the entire set of teeth with its logos, on grillz. The French brand Isis & Gold, very present in this market, entrusted me with the creation of the hairstyles during its latest shooting.

Photographer Richard W Sharp Jr (USA)

Can you tell us a little about you? Born and raised in Sothern California, I started photographing beach, desert, and mountain scenery in the late 1980’s. In the early 1990’s I moved to Missouri, settled in, and eventually had three wonderful, and talented children,

How and when did you get into photography? Photography sparked my interest, as my stepfather was deeply passionate about his photography, and took time out of his day to teach me the technical aspects of camera settings, natural lighting, and filters.

What does photography mean to you? Capturing moments for others and seeing their expressions as the images come straight out of camera, is rewarding. Knowing my captures can make a person smile is the keeps the soul healthy.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. Monochrome captures, utilizing careful placement of lighting, along with choosing wardrobe and accessories, having a uniqueness to the model is my style. Also, hours upon hours of collaboration with the client/model, is the key to priceless captures. I use Shein and Temu jewelry, mash it all up, to give it a not so perfect look.

Where do you get inspiration from? Inspirations come in many forms. From movies, magazines, to an idea that suddenly comes to mind.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Planning a shoot in advance is a must. A carefully, well planned photoshoot, yields the best captures. One of my photoshoots, took approximately two months to plan, and involved approximately thirty-five hours of photographer/model collaboration.

- 298 -

Studio, on location or both? Both, small home studio, and on location are currently my setups. On location, at a fair ground, school, etc., requires little to no lighting setup. Whereas, studio, there’s at least 3 hours of preparation time involved before the shoot.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Since photography doesn’t bring in more than 75% of my earnings, I am considered a hobbyist. Hobbyist allows more control of the overall photoshoots, and permits creativity of both photographer and client to flourish.

What has been your most memorable session and why? Favorite, and most moving captures, is when I photograph my daughter. All the planning and work we do together, and then seeing the end result of the effort, is a feeling words cannot describe.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Canon Rebel T7, Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 ST

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer? Follow your dream: Create, and inspire! Igniting an emotional response within your viewer, is your goal as a photographer

What do you think of our new magazine? Modellenland Magazine, a nonprofit magazine, and free access to such a carefully, and well organized magazine is very rare. The amount of time sacrificed to produce a high quality magazine is very giving. The magazine showcases not only professional photographers and models, but hobbyist as well, which is great for people entering into the industries.

BLUE

The color blue is associated with various meanings and symbolisms, and its interpretation can vary depending on cultural, social, and personal contexts. What can this color signify?

Calmness and serenity: Blue often evokes a sense of tranquility and peace. It is associated with calmness and serenity and is often used in environments where a relaxed atmosphere is desired.

Trust and stability: Blue is also linked to trust and stability. Many corporate brands use blue in their logos to convey trust and professionalism.

Spirituality: In some cultures, blue is connected to the spiritual and divine. It can symbolize the transcendental and the mystical.

Freshness and cleanliness: Light blue can suggest freshness and cleanliness, which is why it is often used in products related to water and hygiene.

Communication and clarity: Blue is associated with effective communication and clear thinking. You may have noticed that many social media platforms and technology interfaces use blue.

Nature: In nature, blue is associated with the sky and water, evoking feelings of freshness and a connection to nature.

According to stylist Carlos Buendía Sancha, "Blue has always accompanied me; I draw all the sketches in that color before shooting a new collection. This led me to investigate a bit about the meaning of this tone and fuse it into the hair through textures and lines."

A proposal where we travel through four differentiated but complementary styles: an inverted long pixie, clean and linear, where the contrast lies in long strands to break the stability. A straight mid-length mane with an outward-dried fringe and some irregular layers. A mane that blends the strength of curls and the softness of waves, and finally, a very trendy style, the butterfly

All of this combined with a blue that is powerful, enduring, and impactful.
