Winner of the month: Photographer Sandra Sobolewska (Poland) Tell us something about yourself. I’m Sandra from Lublin in Poland. I’m a specialist of Animal Husbandry on livestock and I’ve got PhD in a field of Animals Nutrition. How and when did you get into photography? During my studies I was working for holidays in Scotland, where in ‘fish and chips’ shop I was washing dishes. With the money I've earned I bought my first camera - Nikon d40. It was 8 years ago. I came back to Poland and took my younger sister for my first “photoshoot”. What does photography mean to you? Photography is my work, love and challenge. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. It’s really hard to tell. Hope my works speaks for themselves. Where do you get inspiration from? Just look around and really everything is an inspiration. Brush, unfinished coffee or dried plant. Think you in advance what you want in the picture? Sometimes I have to. Sometimes not. It really depends on situation. Studio, on location or both? Both, but I prefer to work when I don’t need to rush – so I prefer to work in studio. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Haha, another hard question. I would say I’m a paid professional hobbyist ;) What has been your most memorable session and why? All my sessions are unique and unrepeatable. I remember each one of them, every person that I photographed and it is definitely the magic of this profession. What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work? It’s hard to say – probably the biggest source of inspiration were the Greatest Photographers ;) Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Nikon – I’m faithful. My favorite one is 105 mm f2.8 micro lens – very sharp, but I’m also in love with 24-70mm f2.8. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? Just do what you love and don’t give up.
