Edo Popović was born in Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 1957. He has lived in Zagreb since 1968. His previous books include San žutih zmija (Dream of Yellow Snakes, 2000), which was performed by Reeve Secondary Theatre in Calgary (Canada), Koncert za tekilu i apaurin (Concert for Tequila and Valium, 2002) and Plesačica iz Blue Bara (The Dancer from the Blue Bar, 2004). His fiction has been translated into German and Slovenian. Sanja Lovrenčić, (1961), who received her B.A. in the history of art, lives in Zagreb and works as a free-lance writer and translator. She has published several volumes of poetry, short stories, novels and books for children; and has received various literary prizes. Her poetry has been translated into Polish, Russian, German, English, Slovenian and Hungarian. The German translation of her novel Martinove strune (Martin’s Strings) appeared in 2008. Miro Gavran is a contemporary Croatian author of short stories, fiction and drama. His works have been translated into 32 languages, and his books have come out in 150 different editions at home and abroad. His dramas and comedies have had more than 200 theatre first nights around the world and have been seen by more than two million theatergoers. He has received some twenty awards in Croatia and abroad including The European circle award and the 1999 Central European time literary award. Ivana Šojat Kuči was born in Osijek in 1971. In 2000 she published Hiperbole (Hyperboles), her first book of poetry. She has also published novels (Unterstadt/ Lower Town, 2009) and collections of poetry, short stories and essays. Her poetry has been published in the Belgian literary review Le Fram and the British poetry magazine The Ugly Tree. She works as a literary translator, having translated over 30 books from English and French into Croatian.

Josip Vaništa was born in 1924 in Karlovac. He graduated from the Aca demy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 1950 and is the founder of the Gorgona group. From 1951 to 1994 he taught at the Architecture Faculty, University of Zagreb. He lives and works in Zagreb. His most recent work is Skizzenbuch 1932-2010. Iza otvorenih vrata (Sketchbook 1932-2010. Behind Open Doors, Zagreb 2010). Awards: J.G.Kovačić (2002), Vladimir Nazor (1974) and others.

Irena Vrkljan was born in 1930 in Belgrade. She studied archaeology and German in Zagreb. She has written several radio and television plays, but the focus of her work throughout her life has been lyric poetry. She lives in Berlin. Her most famous novel Svila, škare (Silk, Scissors, 1984 ) has been translated into German, English, Italian and Hungarian. The most recent novel Žene i ovaj suludi svijet (Women and this crazy world, 2010) appeared in 2010. Awards: Tin Ujević (1983),Vladimir Nazor (2009) and others. Ludwig Bauer was born in 1941 in Sisak, Croatia. He received his B.A. in Slavic Studies from the University of Zagreb and attended post-graduate studies in Prague. His work includes over 30 fiction titles. His protagonists are individuals who fall victim to history, frequently ethnic Germans/Austrians living in Croatia. Bauer’s novels are extremely critical of all nondemocratic regimes, and they attack fanaticism and nationalism. His most recent novel is Zavičaj zaborav - Heimat Vergesslichkeit (Homeland Forgetfulness; Zagreb, 2010).
