for Sticking to Your Fitness Goals this Spring (BPT) - On average, two-thirds of Americans set New Year’s resolutions to begin the new year with a fresh outlook. Whether it’s changing your diet, saving money or starting a new hobby, it seems almost everyone is trying to accomplish something when January rolls around. With the new year well underway and spring already here, many people are still working hard on their New Year’s resolutions. While it might have been easy for so many to start working on these resolutions, few are able to stick to them throughout the year. To stay on track this spring, here are five helpful tips to keep in mind.

Set Daily Goals Keep your eyes on the prize and focus on what your goals are for each day. By having a clear idea of what you’re working toward and the steps needed to get there, you can track your progress as you strive to achieve your ultimate goal. 8

Empower Yourself Find a few inspirational quotes that really resonate with you and schedule them as reminders in your cell phone during the time of day you find the most challenging. When the quote pops up, take a moment and close your eyes, take a deep breath, and repeat it several times. Believe it! Your mind is a powerful tool, so use it!!

Celebrate the Victories Whether you are simply working toward some closer targets or halfway to realizing your main goal, celebrate all the steps in between. Doing so will motivate you to work even harder to accomplish what’s next, and you’ll make each resolution a reality before you know it.

POST-GYM BEAUTY HACKS to Try After Your Next Sweat Session

As women with jam-packed schedules, we frequently squeeze sweat sessions in wherever we can fit them. Always on the hunt for ways to save time in our busy days, we turned to our readers for their favorite postgym beauty hacks that take them from sweaty to fresh in 10 minutes or less! Here’s what we learned:


Never workout with make up as sweating opens up your pores and wearing make up will block them, resulting in you breaking out. However if you don’t like to shower at the gym like me always carry cleanser wipes with you & dry shampoo! Always bring a change of clothes for post workout, especially a bra and underwear. Keeping on wet clothing can lead to infections and breakouts, besides who wants to keep on wet clothes!

After the gym, I love to refresh my skin with an aloe vera spray. This is hydrating without making my skin oily, and it reduces the post workout redness that a lot of us get! I carry wipes, a travel sized deodorant, and roll on perfume, so I don’t make the gym smell like my perfume and avoid bothering anyone who has asthma or sensitivities. I usually shower when I get home from the gym so the combination of these three tools makes me feel a little better while I’m on the subway back towards my apartment.

I am really prone to breaking out if I do not take care of my skin. So, I make sure to keep Micellar Waterproof Makeup removing towelettes in my gym bag with me at all times. I don’t always have time to shower right after I workout so I will wipe my face down with a towelette right after I’m finished with my workout to make sure I get all the sweat and dirt off of my face. I feel so fresh and clean after!

After crushing a workout, I splash my face with water then, I apply Valjean Labs serum “Glow” which is from Urban Outfitters. For skin that gets flushed use cold water to wash. This serum cleanses the skin leaving it feeling fresh along with hydrating your skin to leave you glowing after your workout!

Post-workout spray your face with rose water! Rose water always helps you cool off and feel refreshed after a sweaty workout. Take advantage of dry shampoo! It can be hard on your hair to wash it everyday, and if you’re like me and workout most days of the week, that can sometimes be a problem. I like to spray dry shampoo in my hair after to soak up all the sweat and oil. Bonus: if you blow dry your hair after it’ll soak up some of the extra sweat too and give you some extra volume!

So I make sure to hydrate my skin by washing my face with a cleanser and finishing it off with a serum that helps re-hydrate and moisturize. I opt for travel size containers so I can easily pack them in my gym bag and head out the door.

While yoga pants/spandex do the curves good they create breeding grounds for bacteria! I know... gross! Clogged hair follicles, dry red itchy skin, and discoloration can be just a few common side effects! To prevent this I use a Benzoyl peroxide acne wash on my lower body immediately following a workout. Following that post-workout cleanse I apply organic coconut oil to the legs and booty! This is the nectar of the gods and does wonders! I warm it up in my hands and glide it onto my lower body. It helps with decreasing cellulite, aids in skin firming, and even moisturizes!

Avene Thermal Water! I use this product to restore moisture and balance redness and calm skin from intense cardio sessions and sweat! Kopari Lip Love! Anyone who has ever made it through an intense session of cardio knows we breathe quite heavily throughout, which causes added dryness on our lips. Post workout, I glide this product on to restore moisture to my lips!

Post-workout I like to use a cleansing wipe all over my face, neck and shoulders. It gets rid of all the sweat which will in turn prevent breakouts! My favorite is the Ariul wipes that I found at CVS for $3! I always keep one in my gym bag and in my car.

Dry shampoo is a LIFE SAVER if you’re a busy bee and want fresh and clean hair! All it takes is a couple sprits and 10 seconds and you’re good to go! I use FRÉ’s facial cleanser and replenishing serum after I workout. These products are made for active people who sweat! They feel refreshing and they keep my skin clean and smooth.

I like to wipe my face off with Nuetrogena makeup removers to get ride of any sweat. I also like to keep a small lemon oil in my bag! Waving it under your nose and sniffing it a few times will naturally refocus your mind!

Post-workout, the first thing I do is wash my face. I use an actual cleanser or oil (no face wipes) - something mild that isn’t harsh on sensitive skin. Using cooler water helps take down the irritation in my face and I also use it to cool down a bit. Then I’ll use a light moisturizer with SPF and spritz with a moisturizing spray. Mario Badescu rose water and Lumion are my favorites.

BERRY OATMEAL Top a bowl of cooked whole-grain oats with 1/3 cup of blueberries and raspberries (or your favorite). Try adding 1 tablespoon of chopped walnuts. One of the most antioxidant-rich fruits, berries are loaded with fiber and vitamin C. Walnuts’ protein and fat help make the oatmeal more satiating.


SPINACH EGG MUFFINS Egg muffins are packed with protein, and adding spinach or tomatoes will up your veggies and flavor. Make a batch of egg muffins early in the week then pop them in the fridge. In the morning, nuke them for a quick 30- to 60-seconds!

AVOCADO TOAST Top your whole-wheat toast with avocado. Pump up the protein by adding an egg on top, smoked salmon, cottage cheese, or any other tasty extras. 24

STRAWBERRY YOGURT SMOOTHIE A strawberry smoothie recipe combines strawberries, which are high in vitamin C, potassium, and fiber; orange juice, with more immunity-boosting vitamin C; greek yogurt, rich with protein and calcium. Add all ingredients to blender and blend to desired thickness.

PEANUT BUTTER AND HONEY TOAST Toast a slice of whole-wheat bread and spread it with one tablespoon of natural peanut butter and one tablespoon of raw honey. Top with some banana slices and chia seeds. The PB delivers about 4 grams of protein, toast about 2 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein, Raw honey contains phytonutrients with antimicrobial and cancer-fighting properties.
