Für mich ist es ein schöner Anblick, Kinder und Jugendliche zu sehen, die mit glänzenden Augen zu uns in den Unterricht kommen. Voller Erwartung auf die nächste Stunde und vor allem auf den Bandunterricht. Immer mehr unserer Schüler lernen in einer Band den wirklichen Sinn, ein Instrument zu erlernen. Gemeinsam mit Gleichaltrigen die Songs zu spielen, die sie täglich auf ihrem iPod oder im Radio hören und bald auf der Bühne zu stehen. Die Diskussionen über das Üben zu Hause werden dadurch hinfällig, da nun ein wichtiger Grund vorliegt, nämlich für die Band besser zu werden. Unsere Mission ist es, dem Schüler den Spaß am Musizieren zu vermitteln und seine Erfolgserlebnisse mit ihm zu feiern.

I always enjoy watching children and teenagers come to our lessons with a sparkle in their eyes, full of anticipation of what the next hour, especially band practice, will bring. More and more of our students find out in a band what the point of learning how to play an instrument really is. It is to play together with their peers the songs they listen to on their iPods or the radio every day, and to perform on stage soon. No longer is there any need for parents to lean on their kids to practice at home, because students at Modern Music School already have an important reason to practice – to get better for the band. Our mission is to show students that making music is fun and to celebrate their success stories with them. In our magazine you can learn more about such success stories.

ass Tobias Urbanczyk schon vor seinem Abschluss am Musicians Institute in Hollywood, mehr Konzerte innerhalb eines Jahres “rocken” würde, als er bislang in Deutschland gespielt hat, war für ihn noch vor einem Jahr unvorstellbar. Ein voller Terminplan, gefüllt mit Proben und Konzerten und dazu noch das umfassende Schulmaterial, fordern den German Drummer Boy derzeit gewaltig. Doch diesen Weg wollte Urbanczyk schon immer gehen. „Nun kann ich endlich erfahren, wie sich das Leben eines Profimusikers anfühlt”, freut sich Tobias. „Schlaf, ist zur Zeit ein echter Luxus!“ Seinen ersten Schlagzeugunterricht erhielt Tobias an der Modern Music School in Kaiserslautern. But this is the path Urbanczyk has always wanted to take. "Now I can finally experience what it's like to be a professional musician," Tobias happily reports. "Sleep is a real luxury right now!" Tobias took his first drumming lessons at Modern Music School in Kaiserslautern. That is where he learned the necessary basics, skills which he then improved and perfected over the years. While still in school, Tobias was first torn between his wish to become a professional musician and his wish to enter the police academy. This changed very quickly, however, when he got to know Ulf Geist, director of the Modern Music School in Pasadena, California, at a Modern Music School organized workshop with Tom Brechtlein (Robben Ford, Bruce Willis). RADAU MEETS DELUXE VibrA-Schüler gewinnen "Carl Cox DJ Competition 2013" VibrA students win "Carl Cox DJ competition 2013"

inen Wahnsinns-Erfolg konnte in diesem Jahr unsere VibrA School Of DJing feiern. Radau Deluxe, ein deutsch-koreanisches DJ-Duo gewann die „Carl Cox DJ Competition 2013“ in Kooperation mit Safehouse Management, Pioneer und Mixcloud. Die beiden langjährigen Schüler der VibrA, Thorsten und Julia, setzten sich dabei unter zirka 600 europäischen Teilnehmern durch. Das Mag gratuliert den beiden zu dem außergewöhnlichen Erfolg. Carl Cox zählt zu den herausragenden DJ-Persönlichkeiten in der Techno-Szene. Um so erfreulicher war es für Radau Deluxe, dass sie mit diesem Pionier der Techno-Szene als Gewinner im legendären Space auf Ibiza auftreten durften. Ibiza ist so etwas wie das Mekka der TechnoSzene. Der Auftritt kam bestens an, wie auch die spätere Internet-Präsens zeigte – das DJ-Set des Duos, das im Space mitgeschnitten und bei Beatport eingestellt wurde, landete auf Platz 11 in den Top 100. Wer es auf Ibiza schafft, dem steht die Techno-Welt ganz weit offen. Was Radau Deluxe auszeichnet, ist ihre Vielseitigkeit. So könnte man eines ihrer “warm Deep House Sets” in einer Bar am Sunset Boulevard ebenso hören, wie ihre impulsiven Techno Beats in irgendeinem Underground-Club auf diesem Erdball. Derzeit werkeln die beiden DJs im Studio an neuen Tunes, die sie auf ihrer ersten EP dann veröffentlichen wollen.

Gegründet wurde Radau Deluxe 2012. Doch schon seit dem Jahr 2000 sind Thorsten und Julia in der Techno-Szene aktiv. Mit dem Gewinn des Contests bestimmen auch professionelle Strukturen ihre Karriere. Erstmals kümmert sich jetzt auch ein Management um das Techno-Duo.

Internationale Radiostationen spielen ihre Mixe. Welch einen positiven Eindruck Radau Deluxe hinterlassen haben, zeigt sich auch am internationalen Medieninteresse. So gaben die beiden unter anderem dem Londoner Journalisten Martin Moffat (Pulse Radio) ein Interview. Man darf also mit weiteren positiven Schlagzeilen für Thorsten und Julia rechnen. Kurz und knapp gesagt: Cologne meets Seoul, Techno meets Deep House, Radau meets Deluxe. •

Radau Deluxe, a German-Korean DJ duo, won the "Carl Cox DJ Competition 2013" in cooperation with Safehouse Management, Pioneer and Mixcloud. Both long time VibrA students, Thorsten and Julia, emerged as the winners from about 600 European contestants. The magazine congratulates both on their extraordinary success. Carl Cox is among the prominent DJ personalities of the Techno scene. This made it even more exciting for Radau Deluxe to perform with this Techno scene pioneer as the winners of the competition at the legendary Space on the island of Ibiza. Ibiza is sort of the Mecca of the Techno scene. The performance was well received, as the subsequent Internet presence showed – the DJ set of the duo that was live recorded at the Space and uploaded on Beatport landed in place 11 of the Top 100. The Techno world is wide open to those who make it on Ibiza.

The hallmark of Radau Deluxe is their versatility. You might hear one of their warm Deep House sets in a bar on Sunset Boulevard, or their impulsive Techno beats in an underground club somewhere on this planet. Currently, the two DJs are working on new tunes in the studio, which they plan to publish on their first EP. Radau Deluxe was founded in 2012. But Thorsten and Julia have been active on the Techno scene already since 2000. Thanks to their win of the competition, professional structures also shape their career now. For the first time the Techno duo now has a manager. International radio stations play their mixes. The positive impression Radau Deluxe has made is also reflected by the interest among international media. For example, the duo gave an interview to London-based journalist Martin Moffat (Pulse Radio). In other words, expect Thorsten and Julia to make more positive headlines in the future. In brief: Cologne meets Seoul, Techno meets Deep House, Radau meets Deluxe. •

m Alter von drei Jahren sah Sebastian etwas, das sein Leben verändern sollte: Die Liveübertragung eines Musikfestivals aus den USA – mit Lasershow (!!). In diesem Moment fasste er den Entschluss Schlagzeuger zu werden. Es dauerte drei Jahre, bis er auch seine Eltern von der Idee überzeugt hatte und endlich sollte im Alter von sechs Jahren an der Kreismusikschule ein Kindertraum Wirklichkeit werden. Die Enttäuschung war allerdings groß, denn im Musikunterricht gab keine Lasershow, nein, es gab nicht einmal ein Schlagzeug! Nur eine Trommel stand dort, bedeckt mit einem Handtuch, um die Lautstärke zu dämpfen. Und statt wilder Schlagzeugsoli wurde das Notenlesen unterrichtet. Aber Sebastian hielt durch und erlebte sechs Jahre später ein zweites einschneidendes Ereignis: Das sechste internationale Drummer-Meeting, organisiert von Jürgen Mader und Drums Only. Dort war plötzlich alles wieder da: Lasershow, Schlagzeugsoli, begeistertes Publikum… und ein Stand der Modern Drum School. An dieser Schule konnte man sich auf ein Schlagzeugstudium in Los Angeles vorbereiten unter dem Motto: „All I want is everything.“ – perfekter kann man Motivation nicht auf den Punkt bringen. So wurde Sebastian Schüler von Hans-Peter Becker, dem Gründer der Modern Drum School (später Modern Music School). Wie für viele seiner Schüler wurde Hans-Peter auch für Sebastian ein wichtiger Mentor, der ihm den Weg nach Los Angeles ebnete. „Dieses Erlebnis war die wichtigste Lektion meines Leb-

ens.“, sagt Sebastian heute über diese Zeit. „Ich habe von den Menschen gelernt, mit deren Postern ich die Wände meines Kinderzimmers tapeziert hatte. Und seitdem ist mir klar: auch meine Idole sind normale Menschen, die mit harter und konstanter Arbeit etwas Besonderes erreicht haben. Seit dem bin ich überzeugt, dass jeder Mensch etwas Besonderes leisten kann, egal, von wo er kommt, oder wo er gerade steht.“

Sebastian gilt heute als Experte zum Thema „Leadership“. Er hat mehrere Multimedia-Kurse zu verschiedenen Führungsthemen veröffentlicht, reist nach wie vor für Seminare und Coachings in verschiedenste Länder und ist Dozent für Leadership an der Fachhochschule des Mittelstandes. Vor allem aber coacht und trainiert er die MMS-Lehrer zu allen Themen rund um Lernpsychologie und Unterrichtsmethodik. Die Resonanz auf seine Seminare zeigt, wie wichtig eine optimale Lehrerausbildung ist. This school prepared drummers for studying drums in Los Angeles, California. The school's motto was: "All I want is everything" – a perfect way to boil down what motivation is all about. This is how Sebastian became a student of Hans-Peter Becker, the founder of Modern Drum School (later Modern Music School).

After successfully completing a program at the Los Angeles Music Academy, Sebastian was given the chance by Hans-Peter to found the first Modern Music School in the United States together. The two created the first national and international franchises. Their many trips to the United States, all over Europe, and to South America and Asia were full of adventures and valuable experiences.

As for many other of his students, Hans-Peter also became an important mentor for Sebastian, who paved Sebastian's way to Los Angeles. "That experience was the most important lesson of my life," says Sebastian today of that time in his life. "I learned from those people whose posters I had taped up on the walls of my room. And since then, I know one thing: my idols are normal people, too, who achieved something special with hard work and persistence. Since then, I am convinced that anyone can create something special, no matter where they come from or where they happen to be right now."

In 2004, Sebastian made the decision to take a timeout from Modern Music School and to devote himself to his studies and his own career as a coach and consultant. "I felt that I needed more knowledge in order to be truly successful. And I also wanted to gather experience outside the music business," explains Sebastian. He brought the same motivation and love of learning to this next phase of his life that he had experienced at Modern Drum School. He studied business management online, completed several coaching training programs, took a master's degree in applied psychology and another master's degree in business coaching. He has published several multimedia courses on various leadership topics, now as before travels to many different countries for seminars and coaching, and is a visiting lecturer for leadership at the University of Applied Sciences for Mittelstand (FHM). Die Zeiten, als Schlagzeugerinnen noch Exoten waren, wie etwa die legendäre Moe Tucker bei Velvet Underground in den 60er-Jahren, sind heute lange schon vorbei. Ein junges Girl, das in die Fußstapfen von Moe Tucker treten könnte, ist Stephanie Presz, die seit 18 Monaten von Ulf Geist an der MMS in Pasadena unterrichtet wird. Stephanie ist 16 Jahre alt und begann mit dem Drumming vor drei Jahren. Inspiriert wurde sie von Jess Bowen, der Schlagzeugerin der Summer Set Band. "Als ich sie spielen sah, war ich so begeistert, dass ich dachte, das willst du auch können. Das ist nicht nur was für Kerle". "Ich versuchte es dann und ging später in die Modern Music School in Pasadena. Eine meiner besten Entscheidungen". Nun stellte sich ein erster Erfolg ein. Stephanie nahm am weltweiten "Hit Like A Girl"-Contest für Schlagzeugerinnen teil. Die Resonanz auf ihren Auftritt war unglaublich, wie das positive Feedback auch von professionellen Schlagzeugerinnen zeigte. "Ich spiele jetzt mit ein paar Freunden zusammen in einer Band und hoffe als Drummerin Karriere machen zu können.", erklärt die junge Dame aus L.A.. Mit der MMS an ihrer Seite wohl kein unerfüllbarer Wunschtraum.

Wenn man über die Krise in Griechenland spricht, dann vergisst man oft, dass sehr viele menschliche Einzelschicksale damit verbunden sind, wie etwa die vom ehemaligen MMS-Schüler Kostas und seiner Frau Areti. Beide arbeiteten in Athen als Journalisten. Nach dem sie Gehaltseinbußen hinnehmen mussten – in Deutschland kennt man das auch –, kam dann doch das Ende. Sie wurden gefeuert. Nun rückte für Kostas sein Schlagzeugspiel noch mehr in den Mittelpunkt. Er verdiente sich mit Auftritten ein paar Euro. Aber warum nicht mit dem Schlagzeugspielen den Lebensunterhalt bestreiten? In Athen gab es schon eine Modern Music School. Aber in Ioannina, im Nordwesten Griechenlands noch nicht. Also nahmen sie all ihr Erspartes und den Mut zusammen und im September 2012 eröffneten sie dort ihre eigene Modern Music School. Eine Entscheidung, die sie bis heute nicht bereut haben. Schon nach sechs Monaten hatten sie rund 100 Musikschüler. Und das war nur der Anfang. Kostas und Areti haben ihre griechische Krise bewältigt, was man nicht von allen Banken und dem griechischen Staat behaupten kann. They made it!

Vor zwei Jahren fing George, der verheiratet ist und zwei Kinder hat, mit dem Schlagzeugunterricht an der Modern Music School in Pasadena an. Seine Motivation war schlicht und einfach. Er liebt die Rockmusik der 80er Jahre und wollte schon immer seine Lieblingssongs auf dem Schlagzeug spielen. Das gelang ihm mit unserem Unterricht dann auch. Heute spielt George viele Songs von Bands wie AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Journey, um nur einige zu nennen. „Ich liebe es einfach Schlagzeug zu spielen und ich bin begeistert, wie schnell ich besser werde und neue Songs lernen kann“.

When we talk about the crisis in Greece we tend to forget that it affects the lives of lots of real people, such as former MMS student Kostas and his wife Areti. Both used to work as journalists in Athens. After being forced to take salary cuts – something that is also known to occur in Germany – the end finally came. They were laid off. At that point, playing the drums became even more of a focus in Kostas' life. He earned a few euros performing in public. But why not make a living playing the drums? There was already a Modern Music School in Athens at that time. But there was none in Ioannina in the northwestern part of Greece. So Kostas and his wife took all of their savings and mustered all of their courage to open their own Modern Music School in September 2012. It is a decision that they have not regretted. After only six months, they already had about 100 students. And that was just the beginning. Kostas and Areti have overcome their Greek crisis, something that cannot be said about some banks and the Greek government. They made it! »Vorher hatte ich Einzelunterricht. Es ist ihm daher enorm wichtig jede Woche den Unterricht zu besuchen. Außerdem nutzt er jede freie Minute, um auch zu Hause noch zu üben. Bleibt eine Frage: "Was baut mehr die Anspannung ab, als zu Songs wie „Highway to hell“ oder „Jump“ zu trommeln?“. George ist Arzt, er weiß die Antwort. From Hit Kid to Songwriter Alles begann mit einem Jahr kostenlosen Gitarrenunterricht an der Modern Music School Leipzig. Diesen gewann Martin im Jahr 2009 im Rahmen der „HitKid“-Aktion der Modern Music School. Vier Jahre später ist Martin noch immer Schüler an der Modern Music School Leipzig und hat durch das Coaching seines Dozenten Andreas Leipold einiges erreicht. Seit 2011 schreibt Martin eigene Songs und steht als Sänger und Gitarrist regelmäßig bei den Schülerkonzerten der Modern Music School Leipzig auf der Bühne. Im Frühjahr 2012 folgte die Gründung der Mittelalter-Folkrockband Widarsihtig. Nach ersten Auftritten bei Familienfeiern stehen mittlerweile richtige, öffentliche Gigs auf dem Programm. Das schöne daran ist, dass 2/3 des Liedmaterials aus eigener Feder stammt. It all began with a year's worth of free guitar lessons at Modern Music School in Leipzig. Mom Lisa rocks! Eigentlich steht – oder sagen wir besser stand – Lisa mehr auf Beethoven und Mozart. Doch ihre beiden Söhne, die sie immer zur Modern Music School brachte, mochten eher die Popsongs, die sie tagtäglich im Radio hörten. Und Vorschriften wollte Lisa ihren Lieblingen in musikalischer Hinsicht nicht machen. Vor allem das Band Program überzeugte die Mutter. Doch Lisa hatte ebenfalls einen Wunsch. Sie wollte immer Klavier spielen. „Aber ist das nicht zu spät für mich?“, fragte sie sich. Ihre Antwort fand sie schnell. Warum es nicht einfach mal versuchen? So fing auch sie an der MMS mit Unterricht an. „Am Anfang war ich sehr selbstkritsch über meine Entwicklung, fast zu ehrgeizig. Aber Song, meine Lehrerin, erzählte mir dann immer wieder, ich solle relaxen und einfach eine schöne Zeit in der Modern Music School haben". Und nun rockt Mom zu Hause mit ihren Kids und hat dabei viel Spaß. "Das ist das, was MMS so großartig macht“. Normally, Lisa is – or rather was – more into Beethoven and Mozart. Diese Vielseitigkeit in Sachen Musik kommt dem Griechen jetzt bei einem weiteren Projekt zu Gute. Denn gerade hat Kollias sein erstes Solo-Album nach zwei Jahren fertiggestellt. "Es wird manche Leute überraschen", erzählt er und er ist besonders stolz, dass er alle Instrumente, die auf dem Album zu hören sind, selbst gespielt hat. "It´s a One-Man-Band". Seit 2009 ist George bereits überaus erfolgreich mit seinen DVDs "Intense Metal Drumming" und "Intense Metal Drumming II", die weltweit unter den Top 3 der Verkaufscharts rangieren.

MMS war 2010 seine "Loud & Fast"-Tour, bei der er seine Drumkünste und vieles Wissenswerte an MMS-Schüler und Druminteressierte an verschiedenen Schulen weitergab. Warum also diese erfolgreiche Sache nicht wiederholen. Im Mai diesen Jahres startete Kollias seine zweite "Loud & Fast"-Tour durch zwölf deutsche Städte. "It was absolutely fantastic", beschreibt der

s gibt sie noch diese viel beschworenen Karrieren in den USA, die man so landläufig vom "Tellerwäscher zum Millionär" beschreibt. Nein, MMSTeacher Ulf Geist ist noch kein Millionär, aber in einem Restaurant hat er sich schon einmal seinen Lebensunterhalt verdient. Wie so viele, die im Umfeld von Hollywood gelandet sind. Doch der große Traum von Ulf war keine Filmkarriere, sondern er wollte sein Geld mit Schlagzeugspielen verdienen. Und dieser Traum wurde Wirklichkeit. Keine Frage, Ulf Geist ist ein Drummer aus Leidenschaft. Eines wusste der junge Deutsche von Anfang an, dass er sehr viel lernen muss, um seinen Traum zu verwirklichen. Für seine Pläne war deshalb nur das Beste gut genug. Und das war das "Professional Program" unserer Modern Music School. Nach fünf Jahren war er soweit und zog 2007 nach Los Angeles, um am Musicians Institute in Hollywood zu studieren. Obwohl er dort auch anfängliche Erfolge feiern konnte (u.a. gewann er eine Drum Competition), war es doch eine harte Zeit. Neben dem Studium musste auch sein Leben finanziert werden und er arbeitete in Downtown L.A. – nicht gerade die beste Gegend – in einem Restaurant. Viele hätte das frustriert. Aber Ulf verlor sein Ziel, Profi-Schlagzeuger zu werden und damit sein Geld zu verdienen, nie aus den Augen. 2010 kam dann der große Wendepunkt. Nicht nur dass er seine jetzige Frau Song kennenlernte, sondern er bekam das Angebot als Übersetzer für Drummer Tom Brechtlein auf MMS-Deutschland-Tour zu gehen. Dabei kam natürlich der Kontakt zu Hans-Peter Becker zustande, der ihm mit seinem Wissen über das Business weiterhalf.

Zu Gast war der international gefragte Schlagzeuger Chris Johnson, der gerade für zwei Tage in Köln weilte, um in der Band von Rihanna in der Lanxess-Arena die Trommelstöcke fliegen zu lassen. Eine solche Gelegenheit wollte sich die Schulleitung der Realschule nicht entgehen lassen und stellte ihre Schüler für diesen besonderen Workshop frei. Dass hier kein Allerwelts-Drummer nach Brühl kam, zeigt die Vita des mittlerweile 33-jährigen Mannes aus dem Großraum Los Angeles. Die Karriere von Johnson begann wie bei so vielen Musikern in den USA in der Kirche. Mit sechs Jahren entdeckte er das Schlagzeug als sein Instrument und er erarbeitete sich nach und nach seine Fähigkeiten. Dabei wurde er von Drummern wie George Johnson, Mike Nueble oder Calvin Napper beeinflusst. "Wenn du einen Traum hast, kannst du mit harter Arbeit und Disziplin alles erreichen", erzählte der sympathische Drummer den Kids in der Realschule. THE ART OF BEING A GOOD MUSIC INSTRUCTOR Was ist die wichtigste Fähigkeit eines guten Musiklehrers? An erster Stelle – noch vor den musikalischen Fähigkeiten – steht die Sozialkompetenz. Darum steht die Sozialkompetenz auch im Mittelpunkt der Lehrerausbildung der Modern Music School. What is the most important skill a good music instructor must have? The top priority – even before musical ability – is social competence. This is why social competence is the focus of instructor training at Modern Music School.

ine Forschungsarbeit der East Carolina Universität in Greenville (North Carolina) hat systematisch die Frage untersucht, was „vorbildliche“ Musiklehrer ausmacht. Die Studie zeigt: Alle Lehrer mit hohen sozialen Fähigkeiten wurden als gute Lehrer erlebt. Die Fähigkeit gut zu kommunizieren wurde als wichtigste Eigenschaft des Lehrers herausgestellt. So ist nun offiziell bestätigt, was jeder Mensch, der schon einmal einen Unterrichtsraum von innen gesehen hat, weiß: Je besser der Lehrer mit mir reden kann und menschlich auf mich eingeht, umso besser kann ich lernen. Genau aus diesem Grund ist die Sozialkompetenz ein zentrales Thema bei der Lehrerauswahl und der Lehrerausbildung der Modern Music School. Erstklassiger Musikunterricht geht nur mit freundlichen, motivierten und fröhlichen Musiklehrern, die gerne und gut mit den Schülern kommunizieren. In den Seminaren und Workshops des Ausbildungsprozesses werden darum auch Themen wie emotionale und soziale Intelligenz trainiert. Es wird geübt das richtige Feedback zum richtigen Zeitpunkt zu geben. Auch Menschenkenntnis und Einfühlvermögen werden vermittelt, so dass der Lehrer seinen Unterricht immer nach den Bedürfnissen der Schüler gestalten kann. All diese Fähigkeiten sind die optimale Grundlage um die Schüler dabei zu unterstützen ihr musikalisches Wissen, Können und Gespür zu entwickeln. Der Schwerpunkt “Sozialkompetenz” in der Lehrerausbildung bringt mindestens drei Vorteile für jeden MMS-Schüler: 1. Der Unterricht selbst macht Spaß – na klar: Mit freundlichen, motivierten und fröhlichen Menschen verbringt man eben gerne seine Zeit.

2. Das Lernen fällt leichter und führt zu besseren Erfolgen. Dank besagter Studie ist dies jetzt auch wissenschaftlich erwiesen. 3. Die eigene Sozialkompetenz des Schülers steigt. Durch die Lernerfahrung im Unterricht werden Sozialkompetenz und Kommunikationsvermögen am Vorbild gelernt. Das Ziel der Modern Music School ist es, jedem Schüler die bestmögliche musikalische Lernerfahrung zu bieten und das geht nur mit den besten Lehrern. Die Begeisterung für die Musik, das Erlebnis mit einer Band auf der Bühne zu stehen, die Erfahrung sich ganz in einem Song zu verlieren… all das wird für unsere Schüler dadurch möglich. esearchers at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, systematically studied the question of what makes an "exemplary" music instructor. The study showed: all instructors with high social skills were perceived as good instructors. The ability to communicate well was identified as the most important feature of an instructor. Thus, it has now been officially confirmed what anyone who was ever seen a classroom from the inside already knows: the better a teacher can talk to you and the better his ability to empathize with you, the better you can learn. This is exactly the reason why social competence is a key topic when instructors are selected and trained at Modern Music School. First-class music lessons require friendly, motivated and happy music instructors who enjoy to communicate with students and do it well. Seminars and

workshops of the training process therefore also focus on topics such as emotional and social intelligence. Instructors are trained to provide the correct feedback at the correct time. Instructors practice the ability to read and empathize with others, allowing them to structure their lessons according to the needs of students. All these skills provide an optimal basis for supporting students in developing musical know-how, ability and sensibility. Emphasizing social competence during instructor training provides at least three benefits to every Modern Music School student: 1. Lessons are fun – which is not a surprise: it is only natural that we should prefer to spend our time with friendly, motivated and happy people. 2. Learning is easier and results in better outcomes. Thanks to the aforementioned study, this has now been scientifically proven. 3. Students' own social competence increases. Through their experience during music lessons students learn social competence and communication skills by example. The objective of Modern Music School is to provide each student with the best possible musical learning experience and this works only with the best instructors. Enthusiasm for music, the experience to perform with a band on stage, the experience to lose oneself in a song, all that becomes possible for our students as a result.
