Heads up friends, it ’ s Back to School on August 7th for Modesto City Schools.

What?? Is it that time already? It is a weird thing as everyone looks forward to school getting out, (listen to Alice Cooper’s School’s Out for confirmation of this fact), but most of us remember getting excited for school to begin. New school clothes, new lunch box, new backpack, rental trumpet and so many other things; these things are something to look forward to. Education is the key to so many things. It can change your future, change your interests and open new roads and opportunities. The calculator in your backpack is really a key to the future as you unlock the secrets of science and math. The trumpet you play teaches you how to read music and unlocks a big section of your brain. Understanding how the world works, how our government functions and learning how to do your own fact checking is key to our collective success. In this day and age, one of the best things you can do is spend an hour or so with your kids watching Schoolhouse Rock. These cleverly written cartoons teach civics and basic knowledge that are key to good foundation. If you start here, you are off to a good start.
