MODS Cultivates South Florida’s Future Workforce from Cradle to Career.

MODS impacts future engineers, scientists, environmentalists and healthcare professionals through exposure to south Florida’s keystone industries. From engaging exhibits to exciting internship opportunities, we incorporate emerging technology and hands-on experiences to shape our community’s workforce and fill the STEM pipeline.

Spotlight on STEM Internships

APP-titude The award-winning APP-titude high-impact internship exposes high school learners to careers in computer science and engineering through coding, animation and app development curriculum strategically designed to connect them to science and technology at MODS. Learners earn college credit, volunteer service hours and a stipend.

Transition To Independent Living The Transition To Independent Living (TIL) program at MODS is a paid internship for young adults who are aging out of foster care. This year round internship provides hands-on, meaningful work experience under the direction of Museum staff in areas such as guest services, retail, exhibits, programs, security and building services.

Everglades EcoExplorers The Everglades EcoExplorers internship is a new program offered to high school learners interested in environmental education and the Everglades. Learners will earn detailed, first-hand knowledge of the Everglades ecosystem while developing their workforce readiness skills. The paid internship includes summer training, field excursion experience and a workforce development program during the school year.

80% of TIL interns who completed their internship in 2021 have obtained full or part-time nonsubsidized employment or are enrolled in continuing education/vocational training.
