2020 Highlights & Happenings
January • MODS Hosted the 2020 Youth Climate Summit in partnership with Broward County Public Schools. • The Museum hosted the Aviation Academy sponsored by JetBlue. • MODS premiered Dino Trains in partnership with Brightline.
February • The Museum opened a traveling exhibit, Expedition: Dinosaur, presented by Joe DiMaggio
Children’s Hospital. • MODS’ celebrated National Engineering Day presented by Ultimate Kronos Group.
March • MODS pivoted to virtual, debuting FREE Virtual Camp Discovery videos including activities, experiments, demonstrations and shows. • MODS’ FREE Virtual Sprouting STEM series powered by PNC Grow Up Great® kicked off for early learners age 0-6 years old. • The Museum premiered the first STEM@HOME live sessions for home school and remote learning children.
April • The Museum engineered the MODS Challenge in partnership with Broward County Public Schools. (see page 30)
May • The community enjoyed a FREE Virtual Eye of the Storm sponsored by the Florida Department of
Emergency Management and in partnership with the International Hurricane Research Center at
Florida International University. (see page 33) • MODS connected hundreds of seniors to science virtually through our M3 program. (see page 33)
June • The Museum celebrated the Second Annual Family Pride Day presented by Bank of America virtually.
August • MODS virtual Creature Feature animal encounters, supported by The Batchelor Foundation, was
Zoomed into homes and classrooms. • The Museum opened MODS PODS a school day camp supported by Broward County Public
Schools (BCPS) and A.D. Henderson Foundation for
K-5 Distance Learners. • MODS launched INSPIRE (Innovative STEM
Programs In Remote Education) to connect Pre-K through 12 learners to bidirectional virtual programming.
September • MODS was selected as the only theater in Florida to run TENET screenings on IMAX® 70 mm film.
October • MODS held a virtual ribbon-cutting program for “Sprouting STEM Early Childhood Learning Lab,” powered by PNC Grow Up Great®. (see page 54)

November • Supporters raised a glass for MODS’ Science of Beer virtual fundraising event. (see page 53) • MODS premiered Virtual Wise Bodies: HIV/AIDS Awareness and Prevention for middle school and high school students in partnership with AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF). (see page 31)
December •The annual Noon Year’s Eve Celebration marks MODS’ full-time reopening.

Temporary closure due to the pandemic: March 16 - June 15, 2020. Member Appreciation Days - June 16 - June 21 and starting on June 23 for the general community. July 27 - December 4 - MODS’ daily visiting hours were temporarily suspended. December 5 - MODS reopened for weekends only with limited hours. December 31 - Reopened full-time.
