ABOUT MODS MUSEUM OF DISCOVERY & SCIENCE (MODS) connects people to inspiring science. Through fun hands-on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities and exhibits, a visit to MODS inspires children to explore the world in novel ways.

CAMP INFO CAMP DISCOVERY welcomes campers ages 6 –12 (entering grades 1–6). We’ve crafted the ultimate age-appropriate camp experience. Each group will be capped at 12 campers. Please be sure to book early, as these spots will fill up quickly!
PRICING INFORMATION
T-SHIRTS Campers are required to wear Camp Discovery t-shirts. One FREE shirt will be included with registration for any multi-day camp, and additional shirts may be purchased for $10 at check-in or in advance through our guest experience department.
ADVANCED REGISTRATION is required to guarantee a spot due to smaller group sizes. Camp Discovery requires a minimum of eight (8) campers per group to run and will be capped at 12 campers per group for social distancing (see details below.) Please note: Camp size may increase as CDC guidelines change.

Parents must sign your camper out using your Brightwheel code (daily). Only adults indicated on the Emergency Contacts section of the registration form will be allowed to check out a camper (NO EXCEPTIONS).
BRIGHTWHEEL APP is used for check-in/out and to communicate with parents throughout camp. This will allow you to add authorized adults to pick up/drop off, view photos throughout the day, and contact camp staff through text. Visit mods.org/summerrsvp for more information.
LUNCHES AND SNACKS Campers may bring their own bag lunch that does not require refrigeration or pre-order a box lunch. One-day orders are not available. A simple snack will be provided twice a day and water is available at anytime. Campers may also bring snacks from home, especially if they have dietary restrictions.
BOX LUNCH INFORMATION MODS is pleased to offer our campers a pre-ordered box lunch option through the Museum’s Elements Café. The full sandwich lunch box costs $8 per day and includes a sandwich, bag of chips, cookie and a juice pouch. • Lunch orders must be placed one week prior to the start of camp. Lunches cannot be purchased on the same day camp starts.

option daily for the length of camp. For example, if your child is signed up for a five-day camp and turkey sandwich is selected, he/she will receive a turkey sandwich box lunch on each of the five days of camp at a cost of $8 per day.

WHAT TO WEAR AND WHAT TO BRING Campers must wear the official Camp Discovery t-shirt with comfortable clothing that is suitable for indoors, outdoors, physical activity and getting dirty. Sneakers or closed-toe shoes are required.
• The IMAX theater and classrooms can be cold. Campers may want to bring a long sleeve shirt or hoodie.
• It is recommended that campers bring insect repellent and sunblock.
• A reusable water bottle will be provided by Camp Discovery.
• Please be sure your camper’s name is on everything they/he/she brings to camp.
BEFORE (8 A.M.– 9 A.M.) & AFTERCARE (5 P.M. – 6 P.M.) A daily fee of $5 is charged per child for before/aftercare. Parents checking in or picking up a child between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. must go to the Information Desk. Parents picking up between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. must visit the Information Desk. An additional fee of $10 per child for each additional 5 minutes of care will be charged after 6 p.m.

WHAT NOT TO BRING Toys, electronics, cell phones, iPods, iPads and other valuables should not be brought to camp. The Museum is not responsible for any personal items that are lost or stolen.
PLEASE NOTE Camp fees and forms must be processed prior to your child participating in Camp Discovery. All campers are required to follow our Healthy Choices Make Healthy Scientists protocols to ensure a safe experience.
KEEPING HEALTHY SCIENTISTS SAFE MEANS:
• Reduced group sizes and ratios for physical distancing (12 campers per 1 educator + support counselor). • Touchless entry including a daily temperature check and sign-in process. • Daily health and safety protocol review with campers, including every camper must wear a mask each day. • Masks are available for purchase in the Explore Store if not supplied by caregivers. o Every camper must bring a reusable water bottle clearly labeled with their name. No single-use plastic bottles, please. o Adherence to physical distancing guidelines. o Proper hand-washing technique and frequent reminders. o Designated Camp restrooms and water fountain. • Required pre-registration for a guaranteed spot. • Adherence to all local, state and national health and safety laws, rules and guidelines. Camp educators are prepared to provide an amazing summer.
FRIDAY IS EXPLORE STORE DAY Campers will have an opportunity to visit the Explore Store on Friday. If you’d like your child to visit the Store, please give them a small amount of money to spend when you drop them/him/her off on Friday. Please make sure your child’s money is in an envelope with their name on it. If you select not to participate, we will provide another activity during that time. Campers will store their purchase in their cubby until they are signed out. ACCESSIBILITY AND ACCOMMODATIONS Our goal is to make Camp Discovery accessible to all. We welcome campers who may need accommodations if the child is accompanied by a caregiver and with proper notice. Please indicate your child’s needs when requesting.
ALLERGIES AND MEDICATIONS We strive for a safe camp experience for every camper. Please note that Museum staff cannot hold or dispense any medication for campers. Please notify the Museum of any environmental or food allergies. With proper notice, accommodations can be made for students with allergies. The Museum is not an allergy-free facility.

Here Be Dragons Calling all knights, princesses and brave scientists! Dragons have invaded MODS. Meet our ‘dragon’ ambassadors, while exploring the scaley world of reptiles. Learn how cold-blooded animals use solar energy to stay warm, and dig deeper into paleontology to understand the link between dinosaurs and dragons. Ignite your curiosity and imagination by exploring MODS’ new traveling exhibit Here Be Dragons .
Up, Up and Away! It’s time to soar through the science of flight! Engineer your own craft and take aim for fun. Learn about gravity and energy! Fly on your imagination while exploring various replica cockpit simulators of the Lockheed-Martin F-35, Strike Fighter, the Edge 540 and a Vought F4U Corsair, and then design and test your own flight designs. Ride through the sky with our Inspiration Takes Flight film in the 7D capsule theater with multi-sensory effects.
Kitchen Chemistry Explore how chemistry, biology and technology all play a part in the world of food and nutrition. Create edible juice bubbles, use chemistry to cook edible slime and make your own solar ovens for some afternoon snacks. Put a cherry on top of your week with a walking field trip to a local candy shop to learn how fudge is made.
A Campers Guide to the Galaxy Join us for a week filled with space science fun and learn about the forces that keep all the planets rotating around the sun, explore the parts of a comet and engineer a rocket that will launch into the sky.

MODS Magical Camp for Witches and Wizards We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at MODS Magical Camp for Witchcraft and Wizardry! Our first order of business? Get sorted and make your own wand. Then spend your week exploring the classes at MODS, such as care of magical creatures, potions, herbology and defense against the dark arts. Get ready for a week of bubbling potions, flying lessons, and much more!
Chillin' Like a Villain Every story needs a great villain! From Descendants to Dr. Doom, join us this week as we discover the science behind your favorite villains. Investigate the science behind superhuman flight, flexibility, speed and much more. Learn how to use a shrink ray and master your levitation skills. This camp is going to be a wicked good time!
Full STEAM Ahead It’s time to bring out your creative side for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) week! We'll be pushing the limits of creativity and encouraging dirty, messy, colorful science! Take a visit to our new Makerspace The Hangar , and use tools and technology to discover fun and unique ways to turn your everyday trash into reusable treasures.
Born to Be Wild Calling all biologists for FIVE days of wild fun! Explore the wonderful world of animals this week as you personally meet many of the Museum’s resident creatures. Meet an arthropod and see why its exoskeleton is beneficial. Introduce yourself to an alligator and learn why alligators are a keystone species to the Everglades. Game On/Roblox What does it take to create a video game? Discover how STEAM is essential to the creative process of your favorite games like Roblox, Minecraft and Fortnite. Be a videogame designer by creating your own virtual story and digitally bringing your game to life. Prepare for two full days of video game design while we learn the basics of computer graphics, writing storyboards, and game coding!
2021 Turtle Walks Your adventure begins at the Museum with a presentation about turtles and then continues at Fort Lauderdale Beach where Museum expert guides lead you to sea turtle nesting grounds. We can’t guarantee a nesting sea turtle will be spotted on every walk, but when it happens, it’s a natural wonder you will never forget! Parking is available in the Museum bus loop on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must be at least 9 years old. Space is limited to ensure social distancing. Book early!
