support each other's unique size because our beauty lies in diversity. Body shaming is an issue in today's society and often appears on social media. Skinny women saying they're "more attractive than curvy women". Curvy women saying they're "more attractive than skinny women" the debate goes on and on. Truth is, one body type cannot be classified as attractive or unattractive because all women are beautiful in some way, shape or form. Why should beauty be narrowed down to just one body type? I believe 'thin' and 'thick' women look great and it is okay for them to stay the way they are as long as if you're healthy. If you're in good health and you're happy with the way you look then you don't need to change anything about yourself.

Beauty Has No Size

t

he saying goes “beauty is much too colossal and magnificent to be fitted within limits or any sort of boundaries for its powers are limitless". With that said; beauty has no race, gender and more importantly it has no size. It's great to feel confident about how one looks and truly embrace your endowments. However, you should never put down another body type in order to gain confidence. Women aren't less beautiful if they're skinnier or if they have curves. Women should uplift each other and encourage one another. They should never judge if a woman is “real” or not based on her size". Reality check; all women are real women. You are simply showing more insecurity by putting down another body type. Bodies come in different shapes, sizes, and need to

“one body type cannot be classified as attractive or unattractive because all women are beautiful in some way, shape or form”. Don't let the opinions of others affect your self-esteem. Everyone is different. Everyone has their own imperfections, and their strengths. Therefore, in whatever form or figure beauty chooses to appear/express itself is all that really matters and exposes that true beauty has no size.

rowing up I always exhibited some form of unique creativity well beyond my years. At age four I would cut up my own clothing and make new styles for myself . At age five, I was already comfortable performing other artist's songs in front of family members. It came as no surprise when I opted to attend performing arts school from first grade to high school. At six, I performed at Carnegie Hall playing the clarinet.

Elisa Sintjago I'm Elisa Sintjago. I live in California but I'm originally from Holland. I'm a singer, model and actress. The journey so far hasn't been easy, but it's been going! I just keep pushing through and believing in myself and talents.

Photo: VISIL PHOTOGRAPHY

I started my career in church. I was 6 years old and chosen to sing in front of the whole congregation. I was so nervous I couldn't stop shaking. Then seeing my Mom in the crowd helped me relax, focus and finish the songs. Modeling and acting was easier as I was never nervous in front of the camera. I love the camera and the camera loves me. After I grew up and had more experience singing on stage, I learned to be more comfortable in my skin, and performing became like a rush! I'm always on a natural high after I walk off stage or after a performance.

The Journey So Far

I

've modeled for Victoria secret and sang for Mary J Blidge at a Victoria's Secret Christmas special fashion show. I was a contestant on X-Factor in Holland. I performed all over Europe and Asia while appearing in several commercials. I'm now working on creating my own reality Tv show for my businesses and music. Fashion Issue/24

ew clothing choices are as classic and versatile as denim. You can wear it in a variety of ways and for almost any occasion. It can easily go from casual to formal-looking forms. For a casual look try matching light distressed denim shorts with a medium wash. Support that with an over-sized denim shirt or a light weight pale shirt with a dark denim skirt. Skinny jeans are probably the easiest to pull off, but it's all about proportions and knowing your true body. Any silhouette can work if it's done right; the secret to pulling off these looks is balance. When wearing denim on denim, lighter shades of denim draws attention to the covered body areas. A great thing to note: darker washes create a slimming effect. Before jumping into the deep end with the usual shades, try pairing different shades of denim together. Black jeans and a traditional navy blue denim jacket always look effortlessly cool. It's almost impossible to go wrong this way. You can also make it exciting by experimenting with different colors. Whether it's in the form of jeans, dress, or jacket, you should definitely have denim in your wardrobe as it is the perfect fit and cut for all body shapes.

FALL FASHION

FORWARD F

all is a versatile season for everything fashion. The weather starts to get cooler, which compliments heavier-knit fabrics, boots, and chunky accessories. While we know you, our fearlessly stylish readers, know how to put together a gorgeous distinctive look, a few new tips won't hurt anyone. So to freshen up your wardrobe and keep you up to date on fashion choices this fall here are some tips: This season you'll notice a flood of stylish boots with an array of unique patterns and textures that are perfect to help anyone stand out from the crowd. While black boots are always in style, a little change of color never hurt anyone. Boots that extend just above your ankle is a classic look and works well with both pants and skirts. Knee-high boots work best with most outfits especially skirts or over skinny jeans. There's nothing more fashionable and chic than mixing different textures such as velvet, silk, cashmere, and everything in

Fashion Issue/30

between. When mixing textures you must be very attentive that the chosen patterns compliment each other. Layering is not only crucial to keeping warm during the fall, but it's also the simplest way to appear put together and fashionable. While layering is undoubtedly chic and essential, there is such a thing as too much layering. You want to make sure you're limiting your proportions not to bulk up too much with extra fabrics. An option is to wear tank tops or camisoles underneath low-cut blouses or vests over long-sleeve t-shirts. Layers essentially support warmth and gives your style more versatility. Deeper shades such as chocolate brown or burgundy create a warm “cozy” feeling ideal for the cooler weather. To maximize this effect, opt for colors on the side of the red color spectrum. It's a warmer shade and goes well with most styles. Jackets are essential to fall fashion and the weather is often cool

enough to warrant wearing one. The drop in temperature isn't as cold that you have to bundle up in heavy frumpy coats associated with winter. So choose the right one to suit your needs and sense of style. Stick with accessories giving your look a “warm” feeling. You can add warmth with scarves, hats or simply choosing warm-tone jewelry. A trendy scarf wrapped around your neck looks chic while protecting you against any cold breeze. Think of gold tone jewelry. Gold tones are warmer than silver tones and match better with shades of brown, reds and orange which are commonly associated with fall. Try different styles of hats until you find one that compliments the shape of your face. There are many styles to choose from including bucket hats, baseball caps, and fedoras. It's essential to find a style that works for you. A fashionable but careful selection from these exhilarating options will be sure to bring you all the comfort and style that would ply marvelously with this fall weather.

read the majority of photos comments and 98% of them were amazing and positive, thank you! But the 2% of negative comments (which sadly are 1.8% female) come on, really? Ladies we are supposed to empower each other! Now I grew up with serious body issues. I hated and I mean HATED how I looked!! Only in recent MONTHS have I come to terms with this being "me". I'm healthy. I eat right. I look after myself and use only natural products on my skin. I also spent hundreds of dollars on laser hair removal and drink plenty of water in the morning to keep my skin looking nice. So, I realize this is me, and this is how I'm going to stay I'm gradual embracing that. I'm happy to share my body through art and photography while helping other women do the same. I've gotten comments about my breasts. Yes, I've hated my breasts. I developed extremely early and have had huge breasts since 5th grade and I hate them!! Last year I had a go-fund me page to help pay for breast reduction surgery to make them perkier. And, hell yes, I'd still love that surgery. But to be honest, I would much rather save the 12K and travel Europe or South America while experiencing life and culture. I choose to work with them in most of my photos because it's something I'm overcoming. Photography is what has helped me become confident in myself. I have been a victim of bullying and emotional abuse and I'm now overcoming it while learning to love myself so that I can influence other women to do so. I want to help crush the beauty standard. Womens bodies are art and I love when we can show it in an artistic manner! The female body is so beautiful and will work with it. We, as women, are so beautiful no matter if we're skinny, curvy, tall or short. And I don't really care about negative comments. I have thick skin and realize that negative feedback comes when you put yourself out there. But I smile knowing I have women and young girls who look up to me. They are real and they don't deserve anyone's negative comments.

INTERVIEW

Keisha

Marie Canada based plus size model Keisha emerges Malia Indigo member of the month

I

'm just a girl who grew up in the suburbs of Brampton Ontario, Canada. My childhood wasn't easy but one thing I always had was an abundance of love. Love from my family and love from God. This is what has always pushed me to go forward and chase my dreams. After 15 years of working in the Financial/Banking Industry, I decided to start modeling. Although it may seem to be a farfetched choice, it has brought newness to my life that I thoroughly appreciate. I now find myself continuously reminding people that it is never too late to chase your dreams. I have always loved the world of Fashion but considered myself as an outsider. As a child I used to design clothes for Betty and Veronica Comic books (that I never submitted). I was an avid watcher of fashion television. I've seen every single episode of America and Canada's Next Top Model. To be honest my motivation to become a model came from people Fashion Issue/34

suggesting that I should model. Initially I didn't take the comments seriously. I didn't think I was skinny enough (ironic I know) to be a Plus Size model. A few people really encouraged me and made me think about it and I looked around and realized that the Plus Size modeling industry was starting to evolve. It was no longer

limited to women under the age of 25 who are a size 10-12. We were starting to see women of all shapes, sizes, races and ages gracing magazines and online ads. For me modeling was a leap of faith and I'm happy for it; sometimes in life you just need to jump. I've had some amazing experiences in my short career.

INTERVIEW

I

've booked print modeling for a few local boutiques in the Greater Toronto area; participated in "The Fuller Woman Competition" (a Plus Size Beauty Pageant). I've worked with some amazing up & coming and seasoned photographers. Last year I was in a National commercial and I've walked on a few runways for both hair and fashion modeling. I also recently walked in the Toronto Plus Size Fashion Show. This is all in less than 2 years; it's been a dream come true! In the near future I would definitely like to see myself on a poster or magazine cover. My biggest goal right now is to do international modeling. I love to travel and traveling to model would just be an incredible dream. I was intrigued when I first heard about the Malia Indigo Corporation and Website. I consider myself a newcomer and it's very easy to feel out of the loop not knowing enough people in this industry. Malia Indigo Corporation is a great networking opportunity and the fact that it's specific to those working in the Plus Size industry is a great bonus.

Malia contacted me directly through Instagram with details about the platform and answers to all of my questions. My interest was immediately piqued and that is why I joined.
