WOODEN SPOON 1st Thursday newsletter SEPTEMBER 2019
WITH THANKS TO OUR SEPTEMBER SPONSORS
Intro from chairman Welcome to our September edition of our ‘First Thursday Newsletter’. We do hope that you have had a great summer (not over yet hopefully)! We have continued to be active through the summer months. We were the benefitting charity at a lunch where Sir Clive Woodward was the speaker. This was a tremendous event with over 400 in attendance. Many thanks to the event organiser’s Neil Betteridge of AMROS and main sponsor Alistair Hayward Wright of Hayward Wright Accountants for their fantastic support. We should be able to give you the amount raised on Thursday. Broster Buchananan also supported Spoon at their golf day so many thanks to Kevin Moran. Our next events are now open! We have a rugby World Cup breakfast at our partner club Worcester Rugby Club. Please book soon as this event is selling out fast. We will also be holding out 3rd Race Night. This event has been sent out by Laura. This always sells out so please book quickly. As well as our own beloved region the charity is active across all regions. In total we raise over £1.2 million per year on around 70 projects and it’s good to be part of the Spoon family. Please take time to look at our website www.woodenspoon.org.uk where you find details of recently opened projects across the whole of the UK. ‘First Thursday’ is now fully established as the best networking event in Worcester. We are delighted to say that we do have sponsors lined for ‘First Thursday’ but if you wish to sponsor an event then please drop us a line. We do have over 200 members, 400 on our mailing list and over 700 followers on twitter so our ‘First Thursday’ is great value all round. We’ve been seeking for companies/clubs that may wish to make us their ‘charity of the year’ for 2020. We are delighted to announce that Amros are again supporting us by naming Wooden Spoon Worcestershire as the nominated charity for “An Evening with Matt Dawson” on Thursday 7th November @ Chateau. You will be able to book tickets through Wooden Spoon – more details to follow. If you are not a member of Spoon (yet) please do fill out a form. Your help really makes a difference. Please visit our web site www.woodenspoon.org.uk or look out for us on social media to see the great work of the charity in Worcestershire and the rest of the UK and Ireland. Thank you for your continued support; it really makes a difference. Remember – all the monies raised in the region stay in the region!
THANK YOU! Wooden Spoon Worcestershire would like to thank Kevin Moran and his company Broster Buchanan for holding a corporate golf day in July with proceeds coming to Spoon. This was the 4th annual Broster Buchanan golf day and was held at the picturesque Edgbaston Course. Ben Crabbe (Wooden Spoon member) was the overall winner and qualifies for the BB final which takes place at Woburn in September. Good Luck Ben and thank you to Kevin for choosing our charity.
How can you help? Simply join Wooden Spoon for just £50 a year.
A note from our sponsors Business coaching is an educational process that significantly enhances the economic achievement of individuals and their businesses. It concentrates on helping people – especially entrepreneurs, business owners and CEO’s – substantially grow their businesses.
owners and CEO’s, almost four out of six of them are turning to business coaches to become more professionally and financially capable.” For many entrepreneurs and accomplished business leaders, business coaching is just what they need to generate greater achievements across all areas of their businesses.
According to Heather Hansen O’Neill, president of Find Your Fire and author of bestselling books Teams on Fire! and Find Your Fire, “Today, driven business owners and CEO’s possess more potential to excel. Meanwhile, many of them are not coming close to realizing their full potential. Business coaching can help business owners and CEO’s break through barriers that are holding them back and focus on the actions necessary to achieve not only their business goals but personal financial objectives as well. In addition, a growing number of business owners and CEO’s now have tremendous interest in investing in coaching for their leadership teams to improve the performance of everyone at their companies resulting in greater synergistic success.”
Without question, the demand for business coaching is extensive and growing very quickly. This is borne out by the fact that many of the world’s leading business minds such as Bill Gates, Sir Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos, Alan Mulally and the 89-year-old Warren Buffett to name a few still use the services of business coaches. However, the 3 keys to a successful business coaching outcome should be at a minimum, a bottom-line guarantee of X5 annual coaching investment, trust and positive chemistry between both parties. If any of these 3 elements are missing, I strongly advise all business owners and CEO’s to walk away and look elsewhere. However, the right business coach will help you accelerate the growth of your business. To your success.
It is clear that a great percentage of business leaders are looking for ways to ratchet up the performance of their businesses. “Based on a survey of 759 business
