Welcome Firmingers LLP, founded in 1961 are a leading multi-disciplinary practice of Chartered Surveyors that work throughout the UK and Internationally. We provide professional services to clients across a range of sectors. Our services include Cost Management, Building Surveying and Project Management. Firmingers understand that buildings are complex and have the necessary expertise in the management of costs of mechanical and electrical services installations.
We provide the time to fully understand the business objectives of each client and then develop an appropriate project plan and resource. Our staff become integral to the project – no matter the size – and has a collaborative approach with design teams and the supply chain to deliver certainty. Firmingers can advise on the best procurement strategy for projects to deliver the best possible value. We manage costs from inception to completion across a range of contracts and framework agreements. A large part of our work is repeat business with leading UK companies and we continually measure our performance with our clients to ensure continuous improvement.

History Firmingers was founded in 1961. The practice has developed into a 33 strong business with four Partners and six Associates. The success of the business is founded on relationships with well known companies who continually reuse our services. We are always happy to discuss the services available and ways they can be tailored to suit specific requirements. We are accurate, fast and responsive to our clients demands.

Strategy
Client: H&M We acted as tenants representative and project managers for a 225,000ft warehouse for H&M. Involvement started with a review of locations and costs before a site was chosen at Rugby. Extensive negotiations were undertaken with the Landlord to agree a major package of tenant’s enhancements. We then monitored and signed of the works on site. Support was then provided to the client during there internal fit out.

Client: West Mercia Police Firmingers have been acting for West Mercia Police for 8 years and have delivered over 25 schemes. Firmingers are employed as Cost Managers on new works projects. West Mercia Police are based just outside Worcester. Projects have varied in size up to ÂŁ3 million.

Client: Bentley Firmingers were appointed as cost managers for the construction of a modular office building in the grounds of the Bentley Motors car manufacturing facility in Crewe, England. Form of contract: Design & Build Contract sum: ÂŁ8,750,000 Works commenced: July 2015 Works completed: May 2016

Client: AVL technical centre, Ansty Park, Coventry AVL are an Austrian company that specialise in testing power trains and engines for the automotive industry. Firmingers were appointed to the team involved in the planning and construction of the new Automotive Test Cell facility in Coventry.
Start date: April 2017 Completion: February 2018 Total GFA of: 2,900m2. Fast-track steel frame construction metal/glass clad building comprising 2-Storey office block, with Workshop and Engine Test Cell facility Form of Contract: JCT Intermediate with Contractor-Design. Procurement route: 2-stage tendering.

Firmingers have been employed by The Range as cost managers for the construction of their new build office HQ complex in Plymouth.

Client: H&M Projects: H&M, “& other stories”, and COS fascias Firmingers have been appointed as Quantity Surveyors to H&M since 2003, providing a full cost management service together with procurement support for retail outlets and distribution centres We provide cost management services for other brands from the H&M chain such as “& Other Stories” and COS stores which are smaller boutique style stores; where we also acted as Project Managers Firmingers have also provided cost management services for H&M’s new chain of stores in Japan, Chile and India, working closely with local architects and consultants.

Client: Next Firmingers are employed as Cost Managers on New Stores and refurbishments of existing stores throughout the UK. To date Firmingers have completed over 100 new stores and 20 large store refits with a value of circa £81 million. Firmingers have recently completed an intensive “Cosmetic Refit” rollout programme, services included the production and adjudication of tender documents for 37 projects ranging in value from £200k - £500k. Client: Superdry Firmingers have been providing Cost Management services to Superdry since 2010. Superdry are currently operating an extensive new store rollout programme in the UK and Europe. Projects generally entail fitting out units in shopping centre or high street locations. Firmingers were appointed as Quantity Surveyors to Superdry in 2010 and provide a full cost management service as well as procurement support. Firmingers in 2016 have recently been appointed by Superdry to analyse current European project costs and to manage the process of moving their current Contractor base onto a generic Serial rate document within a number of European countries. Since then Firmingers has developed a serial tender document for use on all Superdry projects. We prepare project specific bills of quantities and manage the competitive tendering process on UK and Irish projects. Firmingers also provide Building Surveying services to Superdry, including condition surveys for new and existing units.

Client: Boots We have been acting for Boots for more than 50 years and have delivered many hundreds of projects, valued from £30k to £5 million. Firmingers are employed as Cost Managers on New Stores and store refurbishments throughout the UK.

Client: Argos Firmingers have been acting for Argos for over 15 years and have delivered many hundreds of projects. Argos are based in Milton Keynes and continue to develop new designs and strategies for customers. Argos always try to keep stores open during refits and Firmingers have developed a unique understanding of how to estimate, procure and cost manage projects. Projects can vary from £100k to £1.5 million but each scheme is treated with the same care. Argos have utilised procurement techniques that ensure good value and good quality while protecting the business.
Firmingers are employed as Cost Managers on New Stores and Store Refurbishments throughout the UK. In 2015 Firmingers completed 80 new Argos concessions in Homebase stores, 10 new Argos concessions in Sainsbury’s stores, 15 digital sales area refits, 5 digital sales area refits with EE concessions and 4 small store format new stores in London with a value of circa £25 million. The acquisition of Argos by Sainsburys has lead to the role out of Argos concessions within many Sainsburys supermarkets, a process which Firmingers will be heavily involved in over the next three years. In addition to Cost Management we have provided numerous Building Surveying services to Argos including, Pre-Acquisition Surveys, Condition Surveys, Dilapidation Surveys and advice; and have acting as Party Wall Surveyors.

Client: Fenwicks Project: Food Hall, Newcastle upon Tyne A £4 million food hall refurbishment of Fenwick’s flagship store in Newcastle upon Tyne. The concept design by CADA delivered exciting new eateries including south east Asian street food, seafood and oyster bar, Mediterranean restaurant, café, patisserie, wine shop and bar, chocolate boutique, coffee bar and general grocery shop. Firmingers were appointed in September 2014 to assist with the project procurement process and cost management of the scheme. This included a 2 stage tender, value engineering workshops in Naturno, Italy with the shopfitting contractor and comprehensive cost monitoring of the construction phase. This close working relationship with the Client and design team ensured initial budgets were maintained from inception to handover. The fit out was carried out in 3 phases over an 18 week period, completing in October 2015.

In 2015 Firmingers LLP acted as Cost Managers for 4 refit schemes at Leeds, Metro Centre, Bluewater and London City. The schemes were carried out over a fast track programme using a Design and Build procurement Route.

Client: Vodafone Firmingers have been working with the world’s leading telecommunication group since late 2011. We have to date been involved with over 300 projects across the retail and commercial sectors providing both cost management and project management services. In addition to the retail work Firmingers have provided the Project Manager & Quantity Surveyor role on a number of commercial projects for Vodafone including projects at the Clients head office at Newbury and London offices at both Paddington & Hammersmith. In addition to this Firmingers also provided cost management services for the £5m refurbishment of offices at Manchester Atlas.

Client: Bentley Firmingers LLP are proud to have worked with a luxury car manufacturer on a number of projects at their factory in Crewe, including a new showroom and training centre, a 2000+ space staff and engineering car park, the painted body store and build hall for the new SUV. Firmingers are currently working with this prestigious client on their new 7,264m2 modular office block and have recently been appointed to provide quantity surveying and contract administration services for another large car park project.

Client: English Heritage Project: Stonehenge Visitor Centre Firmingers appointed as Quantity Surveyors for the project in December 2008. The £27.5m project involved the construction of a new visitor centre and ancillary building at Airman’s Corner, the closure of the A344 and the removal of the existing car parking and visitor facilities adjacent to the stones. Prior to the submission of the planning application extensive surveys and reports were commissioned to inform the design process and ensure that the building would not compromise underlying archaeology. The scheme included a borehole heat recovery system, rainwater harvesting, low impact drainage and a packaged sewage treatment plant. The Visitor Centre opened in December 2013

Client: English Heritage Project: Hartlebury Castle Following the award of a Stage 1 HLF grant in 2013, Firmingers were appointed as quantity surveyors to work with the team in developing the Stage 2 application which resulted in the award of a significant grant. Subsequently the Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust successfully purchased the Castle, formerly the residence of The Bishop of Worcester and it’s surrounding 43 acre parkland from the Church Commissioners.
Our role has included the investigation of options for the location of the cafĂŠ, extensive costings of fabric condition surveys, schedules of dilapidations, maintenance and management plans and cost in use studies. Various costings were also produced to assist the Trust in negotiations with The Church Commissioners and Worcestershire County Council, who use part of the building for a museum. We also prepared tender documents for the scheme which started on site in late autumn 2016.

Client: English Heritage Project: Wrest Park Wrest Park is built in the style of a French Chateau in miniature, and set in 92 acres of picturesque English countryside. As part of our ongoing relationship with English Heritage, Firmingers have been appointed as cost managers for an extensive renovation of the electrical and security systems within this Grade 1 listed mansion in Silsoe, Bedfordshire.
