2023 OMEA COMPETITION SHOW – “PLEAD THE FIFTH”

A call back to the Hollywood-Style Heist films, the band (namely the Color Guard) cases out a Museum for a robbery of a very valuable Golden Bust of Ludwig van Beethoven. Throughout the show, the Guard stakes out the museum, makes a plan, follows through with the robbery and evades the Museum’s guards. The main musical elements include the melodies of Beethoven’s 9th, 7th, and 5th Symphonies, along with the pop hit “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish, and the hip-hop classic “Gangsta’s Paradise” by the recently passed artist Coolio.
