View of the Garden by Walter A. Fitch (1861-1910) pastel on paper
Greenwich Historical Society
From splendid landscapes created for scions of industry who commissioned Greenwich’s Great Estates to humble backyard vegetable gardens, cultivating land for beauty, pleasure and utility has a vibrant tradition in Greenwich. The fascinating history of gardens in Greenwich and the people who designed, tended and delighted in them will be the focus of the Greenwich Historical Society’s spring exhibition, Greenwich Gardens & Landscapes, Past & Present. The exhibit will run Wednesday, April 28, through Sunday, September 5. A member preview will be held on Tuesday, April 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information visit greenwichhistory.org.
