We’re living in a world full of variety, where the pace of living is so fast and people don’t have time to spend lots of time shopping. Also, they love variety but sometimes it’s hard for them to afford it. To respond to these problems we started to design and create garments out of TPU material which can help them to change their design anytime they want. They’re also fabricated in the exact size, pattern, and color you want in a few hours.
In the process of designing these garments, we were inspired by the LEGO toys, the interlocking plastic bricks. It helped us to design some kind of connections which bring us the various design by using different patterns on the base of the garments.
These unique garments are fabricated by printing TPU materials. It is good to know that using 3D print allows us to fabricate very complex designs in a limited time.

TPU MATERIAL
PINIT clothes are made of TPU material. Thermoplastic Polyurethane or TPU is referred to as the bridge between rubbers and plastics. The material appears rubber-like, which means it can be extremely flexible, durable and smooth to the touch. All these properties and compound versatility make TPU widely used in many industries for coatings, components and consumer goods. The number and character of these segments can vary, resulting in a different material hardness of TPU from soft (Shore 30A) to very hard (Shore 100A), so the material is used both as soft engineering plastic and tough rubber. TPU can be 3D printed with several technologies to achieve specific properties. FDM printers can melt and extrude TPU filament to create flexible parts like cases, seals, gloves and more. Being flexible, TPU material can cause some difficulties while printing, including jamming, clogging the nozzle and deformation. However, with good calibration and settings, it opens the doors to a large variety of possibilities.

THE PINIT CLOTHS ARE FABRICATION
3D printing technology has been developing rapidly and is now widely used in various fields. However, the utilization of this technology in fashion products has been relatively slow. Different types of 3D printed clothes were produced based on certain geometric shapes using TPU as printing materials. 3D printing permits fashion designers to expand beyond the traditional boundaries of design, allowing them to turn some of the most challenging design concepts into reality. We are seeing an evolution from traditional textile production methods, such as pattern-cutting and sewing textiles together, towards a textile being totally 3-dimensionally grown. Digitally-created materials are offering up vast possibilities in terms of enabling sophisticated physical properties to be embedded in specifically defined areas of a textile. For example, you can create a specific textile that is waterproof, opaque, flexible or rigid and then combine these elements together, meaning that these properties can all be present in a single garment. Without the need for a specific mold, we are free to create intricate geometries and structures, which are not only aesthetically pleasing, but can add smart functionality. For example, when we create a garment that needs to be held together, instead of using traditional buttons we can integrate this locking functionality directly into the textile itself, by making certain areas adhesive. We’re still in the early stages of developing our geometrical understanding and working out what is feasible, but the possibilities are vast. The immense opportunities for customization that 3D printing offers is another important benefit for the industry. Apparels can now be created to perfectly fit the size and curvature of each part of the body, allowing for true personalization. The use of 3D printing to create clothes is evolving. We are interested in using 3D printing to develop collections of regular clothes, using additive manufacturing as a traditional manufacturing method. We are not only using 3D printing for the design benefits but as an advantageous manufacturing method to create customizable and comfortable clothes. Additive manufacturing is a great way for all industries to improve their
manufacturing process. It is allowing us to work on our prototypes with faster and cheaper methods, but also to produce customizable products in the end. These two elements are quite important in the fashion industry.
While using 3D printing, we can notice more freedom on the customization side. Indeed, additive manufacturing is the perfect technique for mass customization. We know that customization can be an expensive process in the fashion industry. Producing garments and accessories made to measure are made possible thanks to 3D printing.
3D printing could also totally help to create clothes adapted to the movement of all bodies! 3D printing is not only a manufacturing method for haute couture creations anymore.
3D Printing and Ecosystem
There is obviously an evolution in the way that we are thinking about fashion and clothes manufacturing. New aspects are now taken into account and now, the reasons why designers are choosing 3D printing are changing: it is becoming important to use 3D printing for sustainable and eco-friendly purposes. For instance, textiles are part of the waste problem around the world, that is why a lot of elements of the manufacturing process need to be rethought in order to be more eco-friendly. Using 3D printing allows to reduce waste, you only need to use the amount of material that is needed to create your project.
It is also a way to use some recycled materials for the manufacturing process. Creating new materials and using plastic in a more responsible way are new reasons to use 3D printing for us.

- Red shows the Can’t Wear areas on the 3D Garment, where the Garment is too tight, not possible to wear in real life.

- The percentage of the Tight areas will show on the Tight box’s right.
