There is a competition currently underway for a new Center for Music in the heart of the City of London on the present site of the Museum of London. The bid was directed only to “star” architectural practices and we won’t be able to join it, but our task is to challenge the design brief and come up with our own proposals for the landmark venue. We will address the topic with a focus on computation and robotics, taking advantage of the HS Anhalt Robotic Lab. SPACES FOR PERFORMANCE. During the design process, the students will develop the critical understanding of contemporary performing arts and the architecture that accommodates them. With the advent of computation and interactive technologies, the performing arts have also evolved from their traditional form.
