Alhamdulillah. Thanks to Allah SWT, for giving such a great opportunity to complete this internship program as a requirement to finish my undergraduate studies. I am feeling grateful for this completion as I have been through hard time during my internship. The output from this internship program required a lot help and assistance from different group of people. I am very blessed to have these kind of helpful people who stay helping me throughout the process of learning and gaining knowledge during industrial training. It might be impossible to do without these great people by my side. Hence, I would like to thank people who had helped and assisted me all the way of completing my internship program. INDUSTRIAL TRAINING DEFINITION
Industrial training refers to a program which aims to provide supervised practical training within a specified timeframe. This training can be carried out either in government organisations or in the private sector.
AIMS
The main aim is to produce graduates who are ready to face the working world. It also aims to produce knowledge, skilled and experienced graduates, demanded by employers, who are able to apply the knowledge acquired at university to the working world.
OBJECTIVES
To give students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired in a real-life work situation. To provide students with opportunities for practical, hands-on learning from practitioners in the students field of study. To give students work experience while they are studying their chosen subject. To expose students to the work environment, common practices, employment opportunities and work ethics in the relevant field. To inculcate soft skills relevant to the needs of employers. To provide opportunities for students to be offered jobs in the same organisations where they undergo Industrial Training.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS Communication skills in a industrial world is the essential element needs to be concerned. I have improved myself a lot in the aspect of communicating with stakeholders including client, local authority, technical departments etc. Anything I do needs a good communication skill though I am just staying in the office to do some works. I have to communicate well with my supervisor and managing director for a discussion or making decisions.

Most of the tasks and projects assigned by industrial supervisor were done in a team. Project leader who will assign tasks for us to be completed within a timeframe. Discussion is the key of teamwork as any project needs effective input and output from discussion.
30% PROFESSIONAL ETHICS Working in a real industry teach us some basic ehtics and manners to keep good attitudes in ourself. For instance, during a technical meeting, everyone involved in the meeting should respect other’s opinion as we as a professional should learn how to always keep our mind opens to accept any criticism in a constructive way. That is the most important element I have learnt on ethics.

PROJECT 1 KAJIAN PENGENALPASTIAN TAPAK PERUMAHAN AWAM MAMPU MILIK (PAMM) BAGI ISI RUMAH BERPENDAPATAN RENDAH DI BANDAR-BANDAR UTAMA DI SEMENANJUNG MALAYSIA LEAD BY PN NOR AQILAH BINTI KAMRI
PROJECT BRIEF
This project is about conducting a study to identify sites to be developed for low cost housing in Peninsular Malaysia. It involved total of 156 sites in Peninsular Malaysia which will be considered to develop low cost housing. It involves many stakeholders as it is one of the major projects I have been assigned to help. I was assisgned to do the report formatting for Technical Report as first place. I was then asked to review some of development plans including Local Plan and Special Area Plan to justify the chosen areas are suitable for developing low cost housing. I have attended several meetings in certain states to discuss about the areas that have been justified and chosen for this study. The meetings involved Local Authorities and JPBD from state level to sit down together clarifying about the sites that have been chosen. I have also done the gap analysis based on demand and supply in low cost housing for every state. It is one of the method to justify the chosen sites in this study.

PROJECT 2 DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL REPORT FOR LOT 61, SEKSYEN 96A, BANGSAR LEAD BY PN NOR AQILAH BINTI KAMRI
PROJECT BRIEF
This project consists of mixed use development which developed by Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB) as the client. The development consists of several high rise buildings up to 61 floors which is expected to be done within 3-5 years. There are 3 development phases. For the first DO submission only involves Phase 1 which comprised 34-floors bulding. I was assigned by Pn Aqilah to complete Development Proposal Report within 2 months time. I have attended several meetings including CCM Meeting and Technical Meeting which was held fortnightly. I have learnt how to deal with client and voice out something related to your tasks or job scope during meetings. I have also done the site survey for this project to ensure the report is always updated.

PROJECT BRIEF
This scope of work is about making development concepts in Tapah, Perak for UEM Sunrise. This mixed use development mainly focuses on educational purpose which the main development component is Politeknik Muadzam Shah campus. I have been assigned to do some alternative layout plans using AutoCad for client to decide and consider several components of development. This project enhances my technical skills especially using and handling AutoCad file. This is the only project I have been assigned using AutoCad compared to other projects which mainly consist of special studies. The technical assistants have been helping me a lot in doing AutoCad drawings. Moreover, in this porject, En Nik Mohd Ruiz has taught me to get tasks done within a short time. I have learnt a lot working under him especially in technical aspects.

PROJECT 4 KAJIAN AWAL LAPORAN PERANCANGAN FIZIKAL NEGERI SELANGOR (KKALPFNS) LEAD BY DATIN PADUKA DR HALIMATON SAADIAH HASHIM
PROJECT BRIEF
This project is about making a wireframe for special study on the implementation and monitoring physical planning in Selangor. This study is the first ever introduced by JPBD in Malaysia. The purpose of this study is to make a replacement for existing monitoring report used by JPBD HQ. The project leader who is a former JPBD director, Datin Paduka Dr. Halimaton Saadiah is the key person who assigned me to join the team. This study has gone several stages inlcuding Focus Group Discussion (FGD) which was held at Setia City Convention Centre. During the FGD, my task is to monitor the discussion runs well and smooth. Questionnaires have been distributed to stakeholders who attended the FGD to get feedback on their understanding of KKALPFNS. Throughout the FGD, I have learnt on how to communicate with various stakeholders including pirvate agencies, local authorities, and technical departments. I have also been assigned to review local plans in Selangor to pick out main strategic sector and elements related to KKALPFNS.

PROJECT 5 DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL FOR LOT 10056, PERSIARAN MASJID, SEKSYEN 5, 40000 SHAH ALAM, SELANGOR. LEAD BY PN NOR AQILAH BINTI KAMRI
PROJECT BRIEF
This is a development proposal for elevated car park in Sekyen 5, Shah Alam by SUK Selangor. The lead consultant for this project is Kumpulan Senireka Sdn Bhd (KSSB). My task for this project mainly covers the submission for planning approval. I was asked to keep on following up with MBSA on the amendment of layout plan for endorsement. It helps to improve communication skills in dealing with local authority, in this case is MBSA. A CCM Meeting also has been conducted 1-2 times in a month to ensure all consultants keep on updating their work and report to KSSB. This project enhances my communication skills and professional ethics in industrial world. Moreover, I have taken the job to update Development Proposal Report for this submission. It somehow helps me improvise my technical skill in write up.

RELATIONSHIP OF WORK & COURSE SUBJECTS Generally, the assigned projects or works must be new exposure to us but somehow what we have learnt in university help is to adapt with working environment and system. Development Proposal Report for instance, which was the first thing we learnt in studio is the basic fundamental in town planning world. It is the gist a student or trainee should hold onto. Subjects like Ethics and Professionalism is one of the important subjects student should focus on. The subject is about how are we going to be in industrial world. As a professional, we should act like one. To sum up, some subjects might be so important to be applied during industrial training and some are just additional advantages for a town planner to be.
ISSUES AND PROBLEMS The main issue here is the language applied during studies and industrial training. Some students might find it hard to translate from English term to Bahasa Malaysia. The defintion might go wrong if we do not translate it well. Same goes to me, I have been facing difficulties in translating English planning term to Bahasa Malaysia especially when it comes to report writing. Secondly, technical part is quite important because sometimes we have to handle AutoCad drawings file. It is a must to know the basic of using AutoCad so that trainees will not face any difficulties in handling the software.

WORKING FACILITIES AND ENVIRONMENT Throughtout my internship program, I have no issue related to working facilities. Since our first day reported duty as a trainee, they provided us a desk and pc for work. It is just that the PC operating system is outdated. So I have to use my own laptop for working just to prevent time wasting or lagging problem with the PC provided. Plus, if I have to use AutoCad, I have to use other PC at the office because their software is orginally purchased. It is one of the ethics a planning firm should practice. In terms of working environment, they have very nice and friendly staffs working there. It is hard to stress out if we are surrounded by these kind of people. All the managers are quite nice and always considerate in all matters. I feel honored to work around with experienced people from young to middle aged. It is a pleasure to have an experience working at Rekarancang Sdn Bhd.
LESSON LEARNT Everyone might have different opinion on what they have learnt during the industrial training. I personally feel that many lessons I have learnt throughout working as a trainee. Firstly, basic manner of writing an e-mail. Some students might not realize how important to write a proper e-mail. It is more than just important if you enter working life as a professional. Secondly, the professional language in the office. Some people might use their own special nickname. But when it comes to discussion or meeting, you should not represent yourself in a nickname. You have to use your full name for all matters related to work. Furthermore, as a young trainee, you always have to proactive and dynamic. You have to act faster than anyone else could do in any matter. From what I have learnt, during a discussion, when someone older than you is using a whiteboard you should clean up the whiteboard before they do it themselves. It is just a basic manner anyone should bear in mind.

To conclude, industrial training has taught me a lot for self improvement and performance. From technical skills to soft skills range, I have developed myself in many aspects. For technical skills, though I am not used to it but I have learnt how to use AutoCad and GIS during industrial training. They guided me throughout the learning process. Secondly, I have also improvised my confidence level from low to high especially when meeting people you have never met before. It is a norm for a town planner to deal with various stakeholders and decision makers. No matter what it is, the level of confidence should be high to convince people or decision makers on certain matters. Besides that, moving around as in travel for working is a good way of networking. Most of the tasks given required me to travel for meeting people or delivering documents. It is not just a travel but it is an opportunity for me to build a networking with professionals. Last but not least, ethics and professionalism is much more important than other skills you have learnt. In fact some professionals do not perform good ethical acts to others. They tend to break the rules and ethics in the world of professionalism. Industrial training makes me be a better person than who I was before.
