Monika Nováková Interior & Product designer

Monika Meda, is a beauty fundamentalist and a holistic living enthusiast and an aesthete, Interior and Product Designer with more than 7 years of experience in this industry.

After completing her master’s in Architecture and design, Monika worked for a time with a few of interior design firms and architectural companies before establishing her own studio in Prague in 2019. Later that time she opened Studio & store offering her hand-crafted, upcycled objects for home and as well curated vintage furniture.

A countryside house with an archetypal shape and a distinctive wooden structure in the first floor. This part of the house was used as a grain dryer in the past. Functional family living based on uncovering the original structure and materials. We placed there unique glass objects that are owned by the family and reflects the local northern czechia glass making story.

Baroque chateau built in 1762. Two floors with a symetrical front and back facade. Now becoming a nest for a family of five. Ground floor has a comfortable kitchen joined with dinning room. Beside that there are operating rooms and the left wing of the plan is used as a SPA. Entering the first floor you can notice more private and personal part of the house. Spacious main room, office and master bedroom with master bathroom on the north side and rooms for kids and gradmother with its bathrooms on the south side.

Foyer for BOMTON studios is a curvy corridor with a centre located reception. This space welcome customers for many type of beauty procedure. Also here you can rest while reading beauty magazine or shop products that are displayed on the walls. Here you can find many customized objects focused on stone , stainless steel and plexiglas.

Project name: Family residence, Svojkov

First floor layout

The design includes two houses. Larger residential, two-storey with an attic and a smaller one, where is located garage and workshop. Both houses are different from each other and shifted, which achieves the privacy of the terrace and are connected by a neck that creates the main entrance to the building. The residential building is exposed in the highest level of the plot and tilts its one corner towards an unusual views. Both houses are based on a conservative archetypal style of a house with a rectangular floor plan with and a gable roof.

A VASE, AN OBJECT THAT CARRIES THE STORY OF A VINTAGE PIECE OF CRYSTAL. THE CHANGE OF THE FUNCTION. DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE AND PERCEPTION OF THE SAME ELEMENT. INDIVIDUAL GLASSES PLACED ON A MINIMAL PEDESTAL. DESIGNED FOR THE BEAUTY OF THE FLOWERS.

FASCINATED BY HOW LIGHT PLAYS ON SURFACES, DANCING AND REFLECTING AGAINST THE SLOPES AND CURVES OF DIFFERENT OBJECTS, MY LATEST SERIES OF METALLIC VASES SHED NEW LIGHT ON DISCARDED OBJECTS.

SCOURING ANTIQUE MARKETS AND GLASS FACTORY DISCARDS FOR THE PERFECT VINTAGE AND SECONDHAND PIECES, WE DECIDED TO MASK COMMON HOUSEHOLD PIECES BY REINVENTING THE SURFACE ITSELF. GLASS DUSTED WITH METAL AND METAL ENVELOPING GLASS, TWO MATERIALS BECOME ONE REFLECTIVE MIRROR OF THE WORLD AROUND US.

MY MAIN GOAL IS TO OFFER CONTEMPORARY AND UNIQUE DESIGNS THAT WILL NOT ONLY ADD VALUE TO THE AESTHETICS OF A SPACE BUT WILL PROLONG THE LIFE OF TRADITIONAL MATERIALS THROUGH NEW AND UNIQUE ADAPTATIONS. THIS TIME I UTILIZED A COMPLEX TECHNIQUE TO GALVANIZE THE ANTIQUE GLASS. THE RESULT IS A THIN, REFLECTIVE METALLIC LAYER, ELEVATING THE HISTORIC GLASS BENEATH INTO A MODERN SHOWPIECE. METAL STANDS ARE CREATED BY HAND IN OUR STUDIO, ADDING HEIGHT TO EACH VASE IN HOPES OF CAPTURING LIGHT FROM ALL ANGLES.

HAND KNITTED LAMPSHADE WITH UPCYCLED PAPER ROPES RESCUED FROM AN OLD FACTORY. THREE WELDED LEGS HOLDING A LIGHT SWORD. TOGETHER THEY CREATE AN ATMOSPHERE OF A FIREPLACE.

BURN WITH A FLAME THAT SMELLS OF WHEAT, POPPIES AND IMMORTALITY.

MIDSUMMER COLLECTION IS A SERIES OF SIX OBJECTS MADE OF HEAVY UPCYCLED MURANO GLASS. THEY ARE REMINISCENT OF HOT SUMMER DAYS, CZECH FIELDS FULL OF POPPIES AND WHEAT, AND THE COMFORT THAT STORMS BRINGS DURING THE STIFLING NIGHTS OF JUNE.
