The architecture of Shanghai is extremely varied, featuring massive skyscrapers and even buildings with French influence from the colonial era. Shanghai’s transportation system is sophisticated and provides visitors with many options, including domestic flights, high speed trains, and a robust metro. A note about Shanghai, and China in general, is that it is a lively place with all the bustling and dodging of people, cars, bikes, and scooters. A walk to the grocery store is never boring! Based on my interactions with people, I have witnessed how busy many people’s lives are here, and how living in a large city can be a source of stress for some. Despite this, my interactions with the locals INTRODUCTION

There’s always something interesting to see, yummy foods to smell (and try!), and surprising little bursts of creativity and personality in buildings and parks are so fun to stumble upon. As a foreigner, Shanghai is also a great city to stroll around in as citizens here are mostly used to seeing foreigners, and people are willing to help bridge the gap between languages if someone cannot speak Chinese well. There were instances where locals would encourage me to practice my Chinese, helping
